In Sharepoint 2007 while creating a group "Give Group Permission to this Site" section is missing

I have a strange anamoly in Sharepoint 2007 but I am guessing I am missing some minor step since I am new to Sharepoint. I am trying to create a new group which I have done before successfully. 1.On the home page of the site,  I click Site Actions, point to Site Settings, and then click People and Groups. 2.On the New menu, I click New Group. 3.Type a name for the group, and then type a brief description of the group's attributes in About Me. 4.I change the owner of the group or click Browse to find an individual's account name. 5.In the Group Settings section, I click the options to specify who can see the members of this group and who can add or remove members. 6.In the Membership Requests section, I click the options (No, No) and no email address entered Here is the problem part: I am supposed to see  the "Give Group Permission to this Site section"  but I see only Create and Cancel buttons.   Can you please help why I do not see  "Give Group Permission to this Site section". Is there another way to assign group permission?

So whats the correct way to get this on there? thanks

There is a duplicate 'system.web.extensions/scripting/scriptResourceHandler' section defined WCF

Hi We had deployed WCF Dataservices in Sharepoint 2007, IIS 6.0 and Windows Server 2003  which worked perfectly fine. Recently we moved our sharepoint 2007 installation to Windows 2008 and IIS 7. After this migration, our WCF Dataservice started throwing exception There is a duplicate 'system.web.extensions/scripting/scriptResourceHandler' section defined The WCF Folder is setup as an application. Same setup worked perfectly fine in IIS 6.0 Below is the main web.config <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <configuration>   <configSections>     <sectionGroup name="system.web.extensions" type="System.Web.Configuration.SystemWebExtensionsSectionGroup, System.Web.Extensions, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35">       <sectionGroup name="scripting" type="System.Web.Configuration.ScriptingSectionGroup, System.Web.Extensions, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35">         <section name="scriptResourceHandler" type="System.Web.Configuration.ScriptingScriptResourceHandlerSection, System.Web.Extensions, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" requirePermission="false"

First Steps with VS2010 RC - System.Drawing; missing?

I'm a little confused! I was curious about the new VS2010 RC and as I wanted to start with a new Software Project I  wanted to give it a try. 1. Installation troubble with Silverlight but VS2010 loads without errors. 2. Now I wanted to try out this things with a full aero window and found a nice and simple code snipplet on the MSDN .NET FW4 Extend Glass Frame Into a WPF Application So I made this short changes in my first source code and I'm getting the strange message: Error    1    The type or namespace name 'Drawing' does not exist in the namespace 'System' (are you missing an assembly reference?)    D:\Projekte\Selfmade\Software\CAS_Information\CAS_Information\MainWindow.xaml.cs    19    14    CAS_Information I found a lot of c# code with a using System.Drawing; but on my installation I dont have such a namespace. What the heck is wrong there?   Windows 7 x64 - VS2010 RC

System.Data.SqlServerCe Missing in \.NETFramework\v4.0

I am trying to install SQL Compact Edition on Windows 7 desktop Home Edition.  I am using visual studio C# 2010 Express Edition and have SQL Express 2008

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v4.0\Private

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v4.0\Private\x86

When I add a reference to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v4.0\Private\System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll, SqlCeConnection, turns blue and is refereced.  But wh

Activation tab missing "Uses SOAP" section - COM+ Activation Tab

I'm looking into a migration path from our COM+ 1.5 components to WCF.  I was pointed to the "Uses SOAP" section of the Activation Tab, and how a web service could be used to communicate COM+ components.  I have been charged with creating a proof of concept, creating a COM+ component, activating this feature, and then using it with WCF.

My problem is that under Win7 or Server 2008R2 - this section of the Activation Tab is missing!

Here is a link of a screen shot showing the Activation Tab, as well as the documentation regarding "Uses SOAP" check box.

I have enabled IIS, as well as ASP.NET on my WIN7 virtual machine - but this section simply does not show up.

I've searched the web for information on this, but nothing seems to be available.

Any ideas?  Do I have to go back to Server 2003? XP?

How do I enable/add the ability to Customize my Theme in SharePoint 2010 if the section is missing?

I do not have the option to customize my theme on sites on my server.

How do I enable this?

How do I enable/add the ability to Customize my Theme in SharePoint 2010 if the section is missing?

Question: How do I enable/add the ability to Customize my Theme in SharePoint 2010 if the section is missing in one site collection on a server?

I'm doing all this on a staging server, not our production server.
I have a site collection that has been successfully moved from WSS 3.0 to SharePoint 2010 Server (Enterprise).
I ran the Visual Upgrade on all sites in the Site Collection, so that the v4 interface is being used.

When I edit the Theme (Site Actions / Site Settings: Look and Feel / Site Theme), I can only choose an existing one, and have no way to Customize it. The Customize Theme section simply isn't present.

Another new Site Collection (not an upgrade from WSS) on the same server correctly shows the Customize Theme section.
I checked all the features available and didn't see anything that stood out. (It's possible I missed it).

There is a duplicate 'system.web.extensions/scripting/scriptResourceHandler' section defined

I am trying to create an MVC2 web application that will run both on my local development machine (on localhost), and on our central webserver.

Development machine:

  • Windows 7 Professional, 64bit
  • Visual Studio 2010 (beta)
  • ASP.NET 4.0
  • IIS 7.5

  • Windows Server 2003 SP2
  • ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 (determined by checking the folders under %SystemRoot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework)
  • IIS 6.0

Everything works fine when debugging from VS, and I've finally gotten so far that it also works copied to the webserver. However, when I try to copy it to my own local webserver, I get the following error message:

Should be a no Brainer but ... System.Printing.PrintTicket is missing

It should be a no brainer but System.Printing.PrintTicket is missing from Visual Studio's Intellisense, it stops at "PrintSystemObjects".

The using directive for PrintTicket generates the error message "...are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference". Other System.Printing objects such as PrintQueue work fine.

It's late and perhaps my no Brainer isn't working so well - any ideas on what I'm missing?

System Development Life Cycle

The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a conceptual model used in project management that describes the stages involved in an information system development project from an initial feasibility study through maintenance of the completed application. Various SDLC methodologies have been developed to guide the processes involved including the waterfall model (the original SDLC method), rapid application development (RAD), joint application development (JAD), the fountain model and the spiral model. Mostly, several models are combined into some sort of hybrid methodology
