Problem with deployment on remote server with Web Deployment Tool 2.0

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

Hi

I'm trying to deploy my WCF service with Web Deployment Tool 2.0. I'm setting up my build in Visual Studio 2010 with a post build event like this:

if "$(ConfigurationName)" == "Release" "$(TargetDir)_PublishedWebsites\Host_Package\Host.deploy.cmd" /Y /M:https://<myserver>:8172/MSDeploy.axd /U:<username> /P:<password>

When building and deploying I get an errormessage like:

The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel

The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

The certificate on the remote server is indeed invalid in that sense that it is not signed. I think I need a command that says AllowUntrustedCertificated=true or

something like that. Does anyone have any ideas?

Web Deployment with IIS settings of remote server

Im trying to deploy a web application project (VS 2010) via team build (TFS 2010), i got to use IIS settings of development server for deployment. So from the project properties I configured the web projects to use Custom web server, (enabled radio button), once i do this the Option in the tab Package/Publish Web "Include all IIS Settings as configured in IIS manager" gets disabled and as a result the deployed web project does not have this IIS settings.

What am I missing here, Im not using the option "Use local IIS Web Server" because the build happens in a build server and would try to take local IIS settings for packaging which is not present.

If this is not possible, suggest me any workaround. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Event receiver deployment on remote server

I have created an EventReceiver using visual studio 2010. Tested on test server and it works ok.

Now I have tried to deploy to production server. Created package.wsp and deployed on the site.

I might add that I can see in the Central Administration / Solution Management that solution is deployed.

After that I have activated feature. All went OK. But the custom validation in the receiver does not work. It looks like its not deployed well.

Is there enything that should be done to activate EventReceiver on remote server?

Problem with XCopy deployment of SQL Server CE 3.5 SP2 Beta

As ErikEJ's article says (http://erikej.blogspot.com/2009/10/whats-new-in-sql-server-compact-35-sp2.html), "...Notice the “Private” folder, which contains a version of System.Data.SqlServerCe.Dll which should be used for private deployments, to prevent the “Assembly probing” issue".

I have following app.config file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<configuration>
  <system.data>
    <DbProviderFactories>
      <remove invariant="System.Data.SqlServerCe.3.5" />

Active Server Pages+: ASP+ Improves Web App Deployment, Scalability, Security, and Reliability

ASP has been rebuilt from the ground up. The result? Active Server Pages+. ASP+, with a host of new features, provides for easier to write, cleaner code that's simple to reuse and share. ASP+ boosts performance and scalability by offering access to complied languages; development is more intuitive thanks to Web Forms; and an object-oriented foundation facilitates reuse. Other important features include page events, Web Controls, and caching. Server Controls and improvements in data binding are also new with ASP+. Libraries for use with ASP+, and the Microsoft .NET Framework which allows custom business functions to be exposed over the Web, provide more new development opportunities.

SQL server compact deployment help

I have a very simple windows desktop app I am trying to deploy using windows installer. I also have a SQL Server compact database file or (Local Database). When I deploy the app and try installing it on my test computer, I get an error saying the database was not found and then it displays the connection string that was set originally in Visual Studio. The application runs but all the database in not there. I don't understand why there is even a connection string there if the database in embedded in the application. Which is one of the benefits of SQL Server  Compact. What should change the connection string to?? Anyone have experience using SQl Server Compact for Win Forms?

SSIS Deployment Reads local Environment Variable and not Server

Hi All, I have an SSIS package that uses an Environment variable to hold the connection string for the local SSISConfiguration table.  This works properly on my local machine.  However, when I import the package to Integration Services(through SSMS) it reads the environment variable from the local machine and not the server it is deployed to.  If I log on to the server remotely and do the same process it uses the the correct environment varible... (SQL Server 2005) Is there a way to deploy the package to the server and get it to use the correct Env variable without having to log-in to the server and import it?  Let me know if anyone is looking for additional information.   Thanks!

Problem with precompiling web application for deployment

Hi,I'm developing a web application consisting of several DLLs. I have no problem whatsoever compiling en building the application from within Visual Studio 2008 itself. But when I try to precompile the application (for deployment) from the VS command prompt, I get compilation errors.One of the errors is: "Could not load file or assembly 'wsCore' or one of its dependecies. The system cannot find the file specified".How can it be that VS2008 is perfectly capable of compiling the application from within the IDE and that same application can't be compiled from the command prompt?What am I missing here?

Visual Studio 2010, MVC2.0, IIS7, .NET4 deployment problem

I have a problem where I can get an MVC2.0 application using .NET3.5 running in IIS, but when I upgrade it to .NET4.0, the browser just reports error 500 Internal Server Error. The problem is easy to replicate as follows.  Firstly, to show it works with .NET3.5: Create a new MVC2.0 application in Visual Studio 2010, using the inbuilt starter template. Run the application using the development server, and the Home & About pages display fine. Publish the application to a directory. Copy the directory to a subdirectory under inetpub/wwwroot on my Vista computer, running IIS7 Create a new application in IIS Manager & select the DefaultAppPool (integrated pipeline) Browse the application and Home & About pages are displayed. Then the problem I have is after upgrading to .NET4.0: Change to .NET4.0 for the project in Visual Studio Build & this runs fine with the development server. Publish the application & set up IIS as before, except choosing the application pool ASP.NET v4.0 (integrated pipeline) Browse the application, and I get the 500 Internal Server Error I'm guessing there is some extra configuration required - can anyone help? I've deliberately used the default MVC installation to eliminate any variables caused by my programming .. Thanks in advance, Steve

Solution deployment requires executing execadmsvcjobs command on search server to complete deploymen

We have multiple Sharepoint 2007 farms and deploy custom code weekly to the farms. On one o the farms it is required to run stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs on the Search server in the farm in order for solution deployments to complete deploying. These are solution recycles that we are running. This is the only farm this happens on and all farms are identical. In central admin it shows the solution state as deploying. Hi all, I'm at my wits trying to figure this out.  It's a new 64x computer running Windows 7.  I've installed Sql Server Express V8 R2. The connection string is user instance = true.  And the database is located in a directory off the main directory to which the connection string points to. The error I get when starting up my VB Express 10 app is "An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file ‘C:\datadirectory\data.mdf’ failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located in UNC share. I've attached the database using sql server manager v10, and can see the data. Googling his error, there seems to be a lot of web-aps seeing this as well. I did have a problem after I installed sql server version 8 r2, just trying to create a database.  That was resolved by going through the IIS -configuration. If I can provide any other information, please let me know.  Cheers
