HI All,

Does anyone have any opinions over the best ways to connect a server to client service over internet to get data on server website.

If you have any idea and solution then please feedback me . Thanks

Regards,

WCF - First call to Callback instance from Server takes considerable time to make it to the client.

Hello. There's a performance problem we are facing that we are unable to fix using DuplexChannels. The first call made by the client to the server reaches the server instantly. The first call made by the server to the first client using a Callback proxy will take several seconds to reach the client. All subsequent calls to the client (as well as other clients) will reach and execute instantly. The client connects to the Server using a proxy to IServiceProvision, supplies an instance to an implementation of IClientCallback and calls IServiceProvision.Start(). The server instantly processes the call and makes an asynchronous call to IClientCallback.DoWork(), which takes several seconds to enter the client's DoWork() implementation. The remainder of the execution then runs smoothly. Also, the server will experience such a slowdown only for the very first call of the first client that connects to it. Is it normal for the Callback interface to take so much time to warmup, only on the first call to the first client? Below is the full source code. Thanks for any information you may provide. Cheers Mike Shared Class Library using System.ServiceModel; namespace Test { [ServiceContract(Namespace = "http://test/IService", CallbackContract = typeof(IClientCallback))] public interface IServiceProvision { [OperationContract] void Start(); [OperationContract] void

SSIS Package working on SQL Client Machine but when trying to run on SQL Server machine giving error

Hi We are trying to run SSIS package on sql server machine but sometimes it is giving error for data flow task containing Script Component. Error is - [SSIS.Pipeline] Error: component "SCR DimensionRelation" (1) failed the post-execute phase and returned error code 0x80004002. This error is not coming continuously. And also not for specific DFT. It comes for different DFTs as we rerun the package. Can anybody help me on this? We are using SQL server 2008. We are not getting any error on client machine :(:(

Sharing Service Interface between client and server through common assembly

This thread indicates that there is a known bug concerning reuse of service contract interfaces with WCF. Has this bug been solved? I would like to avoid using the workaround since it would mean rewriting a whole lot of client code. In my specific scenario, I have a rather complex setting with 3 solutions: A server, a client and a third application. I want to reuse some of the logic from my server and the controls from my client in my third application, but I don't want to have to setup a server simply for the amount of logic I reuse. My idea was to instanciate the class that imlpements the service contract in the application, and link up the controls with the instance of the service that runs in the same application. This isn't working because the controls expect a reference to the service contract interface proxy and not the actual service contract interface. Even using the /r switch (which I assume is the "reuse types in referenced assemblies" checkbox in VS), the service proxy is created and the controls won't compile because of type mismatch.  What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your time.

I am using the following setting on the web.config file. < sessionState mode="InProc" cookieless="false" />  <authentication mode="Forms">   <forms loginUrl="login.aspx">     </forms>  </authentication> However, it looks like its creating a default cookie named ".ASPXAUTH" in the client machine. I dont want my application to create any sort of cookie. Is there anything specific I need to do in web.config? Please help. Thanks in Advance

How to the web client credentials to call the server (hosted in IIS 7) database with Integrated Secu

I'm dealing with a problem trying to use Windows authentication with IIS 7 in Windows Server 2008. Also i'm using WCF. I have a client application and the server application. The server application manage the user accounts using Active Directory. Everything starts when the client sends its user and password to the server application, which is hosted in the IIS(7), and this application must use the same credentials to authenticate the user in the Active Directory. Also after the user is logged in the application, every request sent to the database must use Windows Integrated Security. I already installed Windows Authentication in the IIS 7, and also I enabled it, (and disabled Anonymous Authentication), also I added authentication mode="Windows" in the server app Web.config. I would like to know: - How can I know which user is running the server application (In other words, which user is doing requests to the database). I forgot to say I can't use the SQL Server Profiler cause I don't have permissions. - If I'm missing something, cause I don't want to have security problems in the application. By the way this website says something about this topic but using another IIS version. http://imar.spaanjaars.com/287/how-do-i-determine-the-security-account-that-iis-uses-to-run-my-web-site

Push data from Server to Client?

Hello,Is it possible to push server from server to client?  For example (assuming inProc state management), there are three currently active sessions.  An event occurs in the server which causes it to 'push' data updates to all of these active clients?I've been banging my head against this one for a few days now - please help!Thanks,Mark.

run dtexec on server from batch file on client machine

Hi I would like to enable a user to execute an SSIS (2005) package located on a server.  The client does not have any elements of SQL server installed on his machine so he cannot execute the package locally.  At present he has to remote connect to the server and double click a batch file on the server that contains the dtexec script. I would like to have a batch file located on the client desktop that he can click, that will run the dtsexec script on the server - as it will not work from the client machine.  However every set of commands i try inevitably end up trying to run the package on the local machine, which obviously fails. Is there any way to have the client kick of the package and have it run on the server, without him actually having to directly remote desktop to the client? Thanks  Guy

Need to create a service to allow client application to update their data

Hi,

I want to create a  WCF Service to transfer data to our clients application(WPF).

The Data I am trying to send is as follows.

ID  Code          Description   unit    Rate

1   104200000   LIVE GOAT      NOS     25

2   104200000   LIVE GOAT2    NOS    25

3   104200030   LIVE GOAT3    KGS     10

4   104202030   Water             LTR      5

and so on till ~ 11000 records.

What I have done so far is. Created a service which return a list of data.

-----------

 public List<Classes.TariffData> GetTariffData()
{
var currentTariffData = new List<Classes.TariffData>();

using (var myConnection = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString))
{
const string query = "select a.ID,a.Code,a.Description,a.unit,a.rate,a.rate3 from tariff.dbo.tariffdata a, tariff.dbo.code_history b where a.id = b.id and b.endofvalidity is null";

WCF session client service reference "State" is not updated when the server side has closed

I am using vb.net (Visual Studio 2008 with framework 3.5). I have a server that exposes several services requiring sessions. I am using wsHttpBinding for all. One of my requirements is to allow non-dot net third parties to access these services. When a client connects to a service and then some time later the server goes away, the state of the connection is still reporting "open".

Currently I have implemented a "ping" function on the server. My client calls this function every 5 to 10 seconds and if the server does shutdown, I get alerted with an exception error. This works, but I was wondering if there is a way where I don't have to call my ping function?

I don't want to use a dual connection binding and I was hoping to use the connection state variable? But, I don't know how to get it to update by itself. The client user application could just wait until it goes to invoke a service method, but I was wondering if there was another way.

Thanks in advance!!

TCP Client/Server communication: NetworkStream.Write() send partial data unless close() method is re

Hi to all,
I wrote a simple client-server application that comunicate through NetworkStream class. The problems comes when stream.close() and client.close() methods are called. It look like only the first 10415 bytes are sent once those methods are called. So, if the data to send is more than this size, it is automatically truncated.

If I  remove both stream/client close() methods from the code, the data is fully received whatever the size is. I tried various alternative solutions (the ones marked as comments in the sample code), but none of them works.
The only thing that seems to work is adding a manual delay before the close() methods execute with something like that:

For Counter as integer = 0 to 10
     System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000)
     Application.DoEvents()
Next

The problem is that after delay I still don't know if all the data has been transfered or not. In addition to that, I will have to wait 10 seconds before sending another request, even if the response is just a few bytes of data. I could change at runtime the number of seconds to wait according to the size of the data to send, but I still think that delay is not a solution and will cause adverse effects.

So, for now the only working solution is to remove both Stream/Client Close() methods from
