Creating a Smartphone Application and Using Data from SQL Mobile

In this exercise, you will use Visual Studio 2005 to create a Smartphone application. You will associate commands with a mobile device's soft keys, and you will add the ability to scroll through the list of available products (a list of images). You will create a data source for an existing SQL Mobile database, and then test the application in the Windows Mobile 5.0 emulator.

In the following procedure, you will create a new Windows Mobile 5.0 project in Visual Studio.

Data Points: Creating Audit Tables, Invoking COM Objects, and More

Dealing with error handling between T-SQL and a calling application, evaluating when a field's value has changed, and creating auditing tables in SQL ServerT are all common issues that developers must tackle.

Entity Data Model and database view returning the same columns as there are in a table

When adding a stored procedure into the Entity Data Model I can select whether the procedure returns a scalar, a (new) complex type or one of the entity types I already defined.

How do I do something similar for a view?

I mean assuming I have a view like this

CREATE VIEW FilteredFoos as SELECT Foo.* FROM Foo join ... WHERE ...

(that is a view that implements some involved filtering, but returns all columns from one table) how do I add it to the project so that I can use the entity set, but get the Foo objects, not some new FilteredFoo objects.

var foos = myDB.FilteredFoos.Include("Bar").ToList();

foreach (Foo foo in foos) { ...

Help with creating graphs in a site page from figurative data in custom list

Guys Can anyone provide me with someone help please? I need to be able show a graphs/line format in a web part of a site page on my SP 2010 site. I want to use some changing figurative data that is contained within a custom list change a the line/pie chart graph on the fly that is located within a chart/line graph in a site page. Basically when the data in the custom list gets changed by my resources I want to be able to see the changes in the graph almost like a live dashboard. I would be very greatful for some help. Note: I am not a coder nore do I ever claim to be, but if I could get a step by step guide on how to achieve this then I would be very greatful. I have a good understanding of SP but I am not to the coder. I able to supply the list if necessary and if someone could provide me with the code/or if code is not necessary for this task then please can you advise how? Creating table with database data, ASP.net and C#

Hi!I just started with my first ASP.net page with C# and I want to create a dynamic table with information from my database. I have connected to the database to the page with datareader, so that is solved. The problem is making the table and import the data into the different rows and columns. I also want the possibility to edit and remove this information from the table. Its supposed to be a table with information about customers.I have no idea whats the best solution for this and I hope you guys got information or links that show how to do this?Regards,fh01

Retrieve data from select columns without creating Gridview etc??

Creating a report from multiple data sources

I am working on a report where it requires pulling data from various sources, databases and data exported into excel sheets from different databases. The objective of the report is to create a single report with all the Providers (HPs) that have been terminated. So what I have done is that I have exported all the data on a local server in the pubs database and I am using a TSQL query to return the report. The same providers may exists in the various data sources so I have to make sure that I am only returning the data once...how ever the challenge is that, other than FirstName and LastName, there are no consistent IDs that we can use in all. For example, not all of the records have the SSN, PhoneNumber, or other IDs that uniquly identify the record. I have to create a report that returns the result set and identifiys the matching records and the source system the data is from..for example the output should display as such: Termed System firstname lastname SSN homephone phonenumber Active System AMIE Jeannine Donigan NULL 3522631007 Nurse SL Linde Peggy Vanrensselaer NULL 6077321218 Sbdev Below is the approach I I have taken to return the data and I wanted to know if there is a more efficient and better way of doing this: DECLARE @matchingTerminated Table ( FirstName Varchar(255), LastName Varchar(255), Gender Varchar(255), SSNEncrypted varchar(255), Birt

Returning last 4 digits of an ssn populated by dirty data

I have an ssn column that some times has a valid 9 digit ssn, sometimes has format characters, sometimes has "garbage" (including less that 4 characters as it is a test database), null, etc. I would like to write a substring statement that will return the last 4 digits of the ssn if it is valid. What would be the best way to do that in t-sql?

Re creating indexes while data load - Performance Consideration

In the ETL design we have followed drop index before data load and recreate it after load. But looks like this approach is time consuming.

Is there any better data load design approach? Will table partition solve this problem?

How to get data in INFOPATH from webservices

Can anyone tell me how to get data in INFOPATH  from webservices please?

returning data as hyperlink works but doesn't work

Please help. I have a form that searches my database and returns results well but each record contains a cell with a link to another html page. The problem is that whether I place the html pages in the same directory as the .asp codes or in a separate directory with the link being an absolute URL, the action of clicking on the link fails to redirect. Is it possible?

The returns are addresses and the link in each record is to it's own address page with google map.

TCPClient and Read not returning complete data unless I use thread.sleep

Hello experts, here is my code that I have a question on:

 Dim receivedbyte(1024) As Byte
        Dim myread As Integer = 0
        Dim myresponsesb As New StringBuilder()
            myread = myns.Read(receivedbyte, 0, receivedbyte.Length)
            myresponsesb.Append(System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(receivedbyte, 0, myread))

        Loop While (myns.DataAvailable)

In the above, myns is a networkstream that is initialized with a tcpclient that is communicating with a XMPP server. basically, iam getting back xml messages.

The issue with the above is that if I dont use thread.sleep(500), the complete data is not returned. Why is that? I have tried to use a streamreader instead of read and using that method i can get complete data from the stream. What am I doing wrong with the Read method of networkstream?

SECOND: The XML being returned from the server is not well formed - the closing tag for one of the tags is missing and I am unable to use XDocument to parse this XML because of this. What could be the issue here? Is it my code or something on server end?

Also, what technique should i use to make the returned XML well formed so that I can use XDOCUMENT and LINQ to parse this?
