Create an API (aspx vs mvc)

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi everybody!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, so, sorry if it's not. I have to create a web application. I can handle that. But, it has a requirement I've never done before. I need to create an API for that application, so other apps can get or set information from/to my webapp.

I've been searching a lot and still don't have a starting point. Seems that MVC is really good to do that, but I'm not familiar with MVC, so I would need a starting point. I was thinking to do it in aspx (Framework 4), but do not know how to do that with aspx either.

Can anyone help me to get started with this?

Thanks in advance

Create an Event Handler to catch calls to Create.aspx

Hi, I want to research creating an event handler/reciever to catch calls (mouse clicks) to Create.aspx to prevent users having the ability to create new content. I've noticed in VS2010 the templates for Event Recivers you do not get anything similar that I could use as a starting point (List Events, List Item Events etc) Any ideas how I can define a new type of event receiver?

create a custom "newform.aspx" for document library using sharepoint designer and web services

Hi All,

I need to change the look and feel of "NewForm.aspx" for my Sharepoint 2007 Document Library. But the constraints are

1. I cant use C# coding. No Visual Studio.

2. Not allowed change anything in the farm level. e.g. cant install features/webparts fo this.

3. Can only use JavaScript, JQuerry and Sharepoint Designer 2007.

I came across some suggestions that we can create a custom page in Javascript/JQuery. Which will take all input data and insert new items in list/doc library using some XML services.

Please help me, I dont know if this is really possible. Let me know if any alternative is possible.

Create new aspx-page from code

Hello everyone.

I'm am looking for a general idea about the following:

My customer is looking for an application - a sort of webshop-like thingie, where each product has its own infopage with a unique URL.

He does NOT want an actual CMS.

I could - and probably will - use querystrings, like http://www.example.com/products.aspx?pID=21, and then get the content from the database, but is it possible - or rather possible without too much bother - to let the administrator input text via a webform, and then form code create a contentpage like http://www.example.com/product21.aspx

Have a nice weekend

How can I create multiple files all referencing the same aspx page?

Basically I need multiple code-behind files each containing different functions for a page. Different classes do not do this because they are not connected to the page so their methods require parameters I want direct control of the page without the need for parameters.

I can only seem to crete one code-behind file and I need many. I've tried putting the aspx page in the App_Code folder but this causes an error.

Is there a way to do this?. Any help would be appreciated.

create workflow fails: URL does not correspond ...IniWrkflIP.aspx

On our test server, I am trying to create a workflow on a document.  Form the document library list item, I am selecting Workflows from the item menu.  Then I am trying to select the Feedback or Approval workflow.  When I do, I get the following error:  The operation failed because the following URL does not correspond to a SharePoint site collection: http://path/_layouts/IniWrkflIP.aspx .

At this point when I click on Go Back To Site from the error page, I just get another error page that says "an unexpected error has occured.  Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services."

At this point I can never go back to the site's default.aspx page unless I close the browser and open a new instance.  And that even only works in Firefox.  IE just continues to say there is an error and shows me a page with no CSS.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in determining what the issue is?

Edit - I did just determine that this behavior is only happening on our test server, not on production.

There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

How do I create an Upload.aspx link on the front page of my document library without the subsequent

I need to create an Upload.aspx link on the front page of my document library, rather than rely on the + Add Document link at the bottom of the list.

When I copy the URL of the Add Document link to my page or as a quick link it uploads the file, brings up the metadata form, but then asks the user to save the file on save.

Clicking on the + Add Document link does a clean upload without the reuest to save the file?

The link I create has the format "_Layouts/Upload.aspx?List={ABC123}&RootFolder=tFolder="

Is there some parameter to Upload.aspx? that I need to add?

How to create a Login Page.aspx via WebService

Does anyone know where I could look to find how to create a simple login page.aspx via WebService?

Want to create a content type with its own Newform.aspx,editform.aspx,allitems.aspx by means of wiza

The wizard then creates a solution on visual studio. The code behind will write generic code for updating/adding into sharepoint.i is there a wizard which will create content type with individual aspx ? If there is a wizard utility which prompts you for fields and field types and then it will create code behind for the aspx.
With this done I can go at the code behind and ammend to put more logic.

Create And Run Excel Macro At Runtime in C#

You've been tasked with writing a Windows Form application using the .NET Framework that interacts with Microsoft Excel. If you are new to working with Excel in .NET and are having trouble learning how to format certain cells or cell ranges, then this little tip will come in handy. Rather than scour the internet hoping to find the correct set of constants or method syntax for formatting your spreadsheet, use the built in tools in Excel to write the familiar VBA code for you. Then, you can paste the VBA code generated by Excel into the sample C# code below and run it dynamically at runtime.
