Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi all, when i want to write the outcome of a linq query to a texfile I only get the query expression instead of the result of the query;

SELECT [t0].[VoertuigModelreeks] AS [model], [t0].[VoertuigMerk] AS [merk], [t0].[VoertuigVolgendeAfspraakMaken] AS [afspraak]
FROM [dbo].[tbl_voertuigen] AS [t0]
WHERE [t0].[VoertuigModelreeks] = @p0

Any idea what i am doing wrong?

Writing to a text file

I have the following  subroutine in an asp.net application class. The subroutine writes data to a text file upon application login.   My question is that if this function was called at the same time by two different  users would it cause any kind of error. Is there a need for a try catch?

 Public Shared Sub writeToLogFile(ByVal UserName  As String)
        Dim strLogMessage As String = String.Empty
        Dim strLogFile As String = System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/Log.txt") Dim swLog As StreamWriter
        strLogMessage = DateTime.Now.ToShortDateString().ToString()  " ==> " & UserName

        If Not File.Exists(strLogFile) Then
            swLog = New StreamWriter(strLogFile)
            swLog = File.AppendText(strLogFile)
        End If

Help with SQL query to Linq (VB.Net)

I am facing problems converting a relatively complex SQL query to a LinqToSQL statement. There are lots of examples on the web, but none involve 'joins' + 'where' + 'group'

Here is my query I am trying to use Linq for :

select Customers.CustomerID,
       count(*) as NumOfOrders,
       sum(Customers.BillingAmount) as BillingAmount,
       sum(Orders.OrderTotal) as OrderTotal
From Customers
left outer join Orders on Customers.CustomerID = Orders.CustomerID
Where Customers.Name = @username
      and Customers.LastLoggedIn > @fromdate
      and Customers.LastLoggedIn < @throughdate
      and Customers.ZipCode = @zipcode
group by Customers.CustomerID

I need help converting this to a LinqToSql for VB.Net

Thank you very much!

The file reached the maximum download limit. Check that the full text of the document can be meaning

I'm facing an issue with the indexing.

I have 1 WFE+Index server+DB server.

Index server is not installed with MS FIlter pack 1.0

When crawling, the there will be document with warning in crawl log:
The file reached the maximum download limit. Check that the full text of the document can be meaningfully crawled.

Documents that with warning are such as doc, ppt, xls, docs, ppts and many others.
However, I view into the successful crawled document, there are doucments with ext doc and ppt.

For large file index, there are MaxGrowthFactor + MaxDownLoadSize required to be added into the index server.

As my understanding is, MS Filter Pack should installed into index server(already did, correct me if i'm wrong).

I looked into the Office SharePoint Seach(CA>Services in farm), if the server is appointed to "Use this server as indexing server", then MS Filter Pack is suppose to be installed into that particular server as well.

At the bottom, there also has another option is "Use all web front end for crawling".

The question here is, IF the option "Use all web front end for crawling" is selected.
Does the WED FRONT END Server required to installed the Ms Filte

LINQ query with multiple joins, problem

I am using a LINQ query with multiple joins, the last join does not return any values even though values exist in the database. Below is my code.

when the query returns suiteNameTrg and SuiteTypeTrg are empty, all other values are returned correctly.

string suiteNameTrg = string.Empty;
            string suiteTypeTrg = string.Empty;
            using (DataClassesDataContext db = new DataClassesDataContext())
                    var productQuery = from assets in db.ASSETs
                    join relocatableUnits in db.RELOCATABLE_UNITs on assets.RUID equals relocatableUnits.RUID into assets_units
                    from relocatableUnits in assets_units.DefaultIfEmpty()
                   join build in db.BUILDINGs on assets.BUILDING_ID equals build.BUILDING_ID into assets_bins
                   from build in assets_bins.DefaultIfEmpty()
                   join test in db.TEST_SUITEs on assets.TEST_SUITE_ID equals test.TEST_SUITE_ID into test_bins
                   from test in test_bins.DefaultIfEmpty()
                    join testTrgt in db.TEST_SUITEs on assets.TARGET_TEST_SUITE_ID equals testTrgt.TEST_SUITE_ID into testTrgt_bins
                    from testTrgt in testTrgt_bins.DefaultIfEmpty()

                    select new

Deleting Last Line of Text in a text file

Hi, I needed some help on the best way to delete the last line of  text in a text file. I have a subroutine that looks like this, but it is missing some code. Could anyone advise me on this? Dim strLogFile As String = System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/Log.txt")         Dim fs As New FileStream(strLogFile, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.ReadWrite, FileShare.None)         Dim swLog As New StreamReader(fs)         Dim array As String()         Dim value As String = swLog.ReadToEnd ''Array that holds the lines of the text file.         array = value.Split(vbCrLf)        ''code for deleting last line: . . .  fs.Close()

How to write the LINQ query for the following

Hello All, I have an entity type with the following properties: UnitId, UnitDescription, ParentId, EffectiveDate - (Say the entitty type is Unit)  I want to filter out a list of UnitIds whose effective date is less than a given date. But since there could be many EffectiveDate s less than a given date, I want to take the latest one(Max). Simply told, I want to get the unit ids with the most recent effective date prior to a given date. How can I do this in a single linq statement? Appriciate any help.

Full text performance of a certain query

I am doing a full text query on a very simple table and when I include the search term "y5v" in the conditions it slows the query down like 8 to 1. The table is defined as: SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO SET ANSI_PADDING ON GO CREATE TABLE [dbo].[tblTextSrchData]( [intItemId] [int] NOT NULL, [srchTxt] [varchar](max) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_tblTextSrchData] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [intItemId] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY] ) ON [PRIMARY] Here is the query: SELECT II.intItemID, KEY_TBL.[RANK] as Score FROM tblItems II INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(dbo.tblTextSrchData,srchTxt, '("capacitor" OR FORMSOF(INFLECTIONAL, "capacitor") OR "capacitor*") AND ("active" OR FORMSOF(INFLECTIONAL, "active") OR "active*") AND ("y5v" OR FORMSOF(INFLECTIONAL, "y5v") OR "y5v*")') KEY_TBL ON KEY_TBL.[KEY] = II.intItemID If I take any of the additional search terms out it improves performance.  If I remove the yv5 search term the results are returned in less than a second. What seems to be the problem is for some reason when I add yv5 it starts doing these sorts after the full text matching.  These sorts take most of the time.  I'm not sure
