Multiple state servers

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Is there a single server allowed only as a state server for a group of servers which are load balanced? There are 5 servers load balanced. The site hosted on these servers uses a state server. Is there a way to use another set of servers as state servers? I don't think the web.config allow you to set multiple state servers for the same site. Is that something possible?

Taming the Stateless Beast: Managing Session State Across Servers on a Web Farm

Running a Web farm means managing session state across servers. Since session state can't be shared across a Web farm with Internet Information Services 5.0, a custom solution is required. One such solution using a tool called the session manager is described here. The article begins with a description of the SQL Server database used to store state information, the stored procedures used to update it, and the retrieval of session data. ASP code drives the session manager tool and the COM and COM+ components that run the stored procedures.

Collecting data from multiple servers

I have a list of about 500 servers that I am trying to connect to and collect various amounts of information from these servers through one query. I'd like to have something that doesn't involve OS batch scripting or using SQLCMD as the SQL Instances range from SQL 2000 through SQL 2008 R2. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what to do to accomplish this?Big Ern

ASP.NET State Server for multiple environments

Hi,

I have two versions of the same ASP.NET application: developing and test. I want to use one State Server (ASP.NET State Server) machine for both environments. The State Server will run on a separate machine from both developing or test. Can anyone please let me know if there might be any issue ?

Also, I would like to know more information about how the ASP.NET State Server works, how it identifies the machines from which the request for Session comes from, what it actually stores, any articles in this area would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve.

Run a package for multiple servers (configurations)

I have a package that collects information from an SQL Server about the databases on that server. I store this information in a table from where I can create graphs (for example the disk usage, etc.). Now I would like to run this package for about 20 servers. The only difference in the package is the connection of the source DB. What would be the easiest way to do this:

1. Build a loop in the package that runs 20 times and putting the server name in a variable

2. Set package configurations that it runs 20 times with every time a different value for the server of the read db component (is that even possible??)

3. Another option that I don't know of yet?

Thanks!

SQL Server 2008 R2 Data Collector for multiple servers.

Hello all,

I'm working as a intern and have been maintaining a performance monitoring application for my companies servers and wanted to know if "Performance Data Collector" could do the job for us(and that I've spent the last month working on...) I ran across an article(http://www.simple-talk.com/sql/learn-sql-server/sql-server-2008-performance-data-collector/ ) that seemed to describe this tool as pretty much what I've been working on.

Presently we do this:

1. Performance Monitor(perfmon.exe) logs all the performance counters we want and stores them locally on each server.

2. A client service(run on each server we monitor) takes the log files, zips them and periodically transfers them to the logging server.

3. Once on the logging server another service parses the files and bulk uploads them into a SQL Server 2008 R2 Database.

4. A SSAS cube on the logging server then processes all the data and we have our min/max/averages for the various counters.

Can I collect performance data from Windows 2008 servers that do not have SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 installed on them by using the server that is running the collector to pull the information? This would essentially b

State Machine - Create AND wait for multiple tasks

After spending quite some time on this and researching every link I could find, I still am unable to make this work. I'd think this would be an every day case that many people encounter. Document approval with multiple reviewers.

But all the workflow examples I can find have one of two things in common. Either they are sequential and don't allow the workflow to revert to an earlier 'state/step' OR they are state machine but then only track one task at any point in time.

I need it to be a state machine since the workflow could go in circles between different groups of reviewers until they all agree. I need to be able in any given state, assign tasks to MULTIPLE users to review that document, and then also WAIT till ALL the users in that state have finished reviewing that document. Only then can it go to the next state and a different SET of reviewers. From there it might go back to the initial reviewers if they're not happy or it might move on to the next state.

I had tried using a replicator in the submit state to create multiple tasks for all the users (my replicator fired multiple times but only one task would get created). But then when I tried to create the second state to wait on all the tasks that were created, that was a whole other set of issues. I was also starting to go down the road of a statemachine triggering a bunch of sequentials but

How can I distribute SRS report to multiple servers?

I work in an environment with multiple tiers of SCCM servers. I produce SRS reports on Tier 2 level site server and would like to be able to distribute some of these to the lower (Tier 3 and Tier 4) site servers so that local admins can run them as frequently as needed without hitting the Tier 2 database. Is there some way to do this without having to logon to each (40 of them) SSRS server and adding them?

Creating Multiple tasks in perticular state in State Machine Workflow

Hi Everyone,

I'm very new to workflow so forgive me if I'm asking stupid question.

Here is my scenario :-

Once the data got submitted to a list I have create task for different states(Like HRState, ITDepartment State etc etc) and each pf the state will have more than one task with different data(in terms of title,assigned to etc). That being said my question will be how I will accomplish these I read about replicator on many bolg but I'm not sure if I can provide different data for each task or not. Also I need to keep track if someone reject the task and come back to lets say HRState than based on that data I have to go to perticular task.

Please advise me to accomplish the task.

I'm working with Sharepoint 2010 and Visual Studio 2010.

Thanks in advance.

Save Workflow Runtime as Application State or Session State for a website with multiple users?

I used Windows Workflow Foundation 3.5 as a page flow navigation for a ASP.NET website's Previous and Next page navigation.

The site acts like a shopping cart and each user has his own session and user data.  The app only has one WF.  I am not sure if I should generate one Workflow Runtime for every user or for simply generate one workflow Runtime for the entire application in my case?

In the global.asax:

void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {

    }

void Application_End(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {

    }

    void Session_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
        // Code that runs when a new session is started
        System.Workflow.Runtime.WorkflowRuntime workflowRuntime = new System.Workflow.Runtime.WorkflowRuntime(WorkflowManager.WorkflowRuntimeKey);

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

I have also explained how to check for file type, file maximum size limit using jQuery & also using server side validation code.

Adding Multiple Columns and Rows in GridView without using a Database

This article describes on how to add multiple columns and rows in GridView without using a database. Basically the GridView will be populated with data based on the values entered in each TextBoxes on Button Click and retain the GridView data on post back.

GridView Multiple Filter AJAX Control

This AJAX control enables the user to filter data within any column inside a GridView. The user can add multiple filters and can delete existing ones too.

Multiple Column Dropdownlist for the ASP.NET DataGrid

Based on my previous control "Multiple Column DropDownList for ASP.NET", I received many emails asking for the same control to be used in the DataGrid for web applications. Here we go.. This control can be used as the regular MS DropDownList in the DataGrid and also as a regular dropdownlist. It has all the properties, like DataTextField, DataValueField, DataSource, SelectedIndex etc. The download file contains the samples both in VB.NET and C#. In this sample, I have used the Northwind database of SQL Server.
