Populate Treeview upon entered criteria and page action without complete page posting on client side

1. I have a treeview on left side in a panel in my aspx page and I have a Text box and a Search button on the right panel. On entering a search criteria and clicking the Search button, I want to get the data needed for the treeview (FYI - I have a webservice call for that) and then populate the treeview completely but keep it collapsed to the root node.

  Each time I enter the search criteria and click the Search button, I don't want to post the entire page (and also don't like the page flicker), how can I achieve this? I know that in order to avoid complete postback upon Search button click, I can do so by client callback and get the data needed for the treeview, but in this case, I have to build the treeview nodes as table - row/cells and handle all the events and handlers myself, which I want to avoid (also means that I won't be able to take advantage of the inherent expand and collapse capabilities of the Treeview). On the other hand, if I use the OnTreeNodePopulate event handling of the Treeview control, using the C# script code on the aspx markup, it doesn't recognize the entered criteria in the Text box. So either way,

Calling Serverside PageMethod function from an external page Client Side Code ?

there is many examples on the net about this issue .like this :http://sappidireddy.wordpress.com/2008/03/31/how-to-call-server-side-function-from-client-side-code-using-pagemethods-in-aspnet-ajax/But all javascript codes are in same aspx file including codebehind WebMethodsI wantto call a pagemethod from a js which is in another page.something like this : (javascript code but not in same aspx)PageMethods("www.externalpage.com").GetContactName(ctrl.value, CallSuccess, CallFailed, dest)).or calling WebMethods from javascript must only be defined in codebehind with linked aspx fileonly avaible in same aspx ?cant I call a Webmethod in a.aspx from a javascript in b.aspx ?any clue ?thanks.

Automatically inserting server-side page events into C# when using code separation

I know this is a really basic question and I have spent the last half hour trying to find an answer so please forgive me if this has been asked before (it probably has)....When I create a web page with the C# code placed in a separate file I can't seem to easily add page events (apart from Page_Load). When I open the C# class code for the page all I see in the two drop-down boxes above the code is "Default" (with no other options in the drop-down) in the left-hand box and "ApplicationInstance,form1,Page_Load(object sender,EventArgs e),Profile" in the right hand box. I can't see a way to create the code for the other page events from either of these drop-downs.If I keep the C# code in the same file (i.e., not use code separation) everything works fine - I see "Server Objects & Events, Page, Form1, etc..." in the left hand drop-down and I can create new events in the right drop-down when either Page or Form1 are selected in the left box.Am I missing something really obvious?Many thanks for any suggestions

How to close the sharepoint modal dialog and refresh the parent page using Server side API?

I am trying to find a way to close a modal page that has been opened with the click event of ribbon control. Once the modal dialog is opened, I'm showing 'OK' button for the user to confirm some action on the respective list item. If the user clicks on 'OK', I'm performing some action on the listitem using server side code. Here the problem for me is, once the action is completed on this listItem, I need to close the dialog and refresh the parent page (AllItem.aspx) using *sharepoint server side
API*

I'm aware that for closing the dialog we have JS code "SP.UI.ModalDialog.commonModalDialogClose". But this is not useful for me, because I should first run some action on the listitem and once that action is complete, then only I should close this dialog.

Client-side HTML Encode and Decode functions with jQuery

The article Client-side HTML Encode and Decode functions with jQuery was added by small peter on Monday, March 21, 2011.

HTML encoding and decoding is used daily by web developers. ASP.NET provide us with build-in server-side functions to perform this job. This article will show you a simple implementation of client-side HTML encoding and decoding functions with the help

Server Side Javascript in ASPX page

Hi,

We have a Classic ASP application. We need to migrate this Classic ASP application to ASP.net.

We have extensevly used Server side Javascript in our Classic ASP Pages.

Basically we have mix of both VBScript and Javascript in same ASP pages.

Need help in migrating such ASP pages (using serverside VBScript and Javascript).

Migrated Code samples will be most welcome.

For migration,  we are planning to use : ASP to ASP.NET Migration Assistant

Example below -

  • Sample.htm : These kind of HTML pages are hitting ASP pages to get response from server.
  •

    <html>
    <head>
    <script>
    var strURL = "http://localhost/Samples/";

    function test0(methodType){

            var oRequest = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
            var url = strURL + "Sample.asp";

            oRequest.open(methodType,url,false);
            oRequest.send(null);

            var resp = oRequest.responseText;

            alert(resp);
    }

    </script>

    </head>
    <body>
    <input type=button onClick="test0('GET')" value="Click me - Get Method"/>
    <br><br>

    Changing the graphics on the home page of a SharePoint site

    When you create a site in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services by using the default Team Site template, the home page includes two default graphics. A Windows SharePoint Services graphic appears in the body of the page, and a picture of a house in a circle appears near the site title. You can change these graphics to customize your site. Changing the smaller graphic requires a Windows SharePoint Services compatible Web page editor

    call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

    jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

    Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

    Using jQuery to directly call ASP.NET AJAX page methods

    Here I am looking to explain how to call page methods using jQuery. Using jQuery to directly call ASP.NET AJAX page methods

    Use jQuery and ASP.NET AJAX to build a client side Repeater

    By sending only data to the client, you can profoundly reduce the size of what you send and see a substantial increase in performance. You also allow yourself the ability to easily add features like light-weight sorting and paging on the client. This can not only improve your users' experience, but reduce server load and bandwidth requirements.

    Client Side Gridview Pagination using JQuery

    I would like to show how to use Client Side Gridview Pagination using Jquery Table Pagination Plugin by using Ryan Zielke.
