Custom message with the jquery.validationEngine

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Has anyone used the jquery.validationEngine.js ( link )?

All I would like is a 'required' validator, but with a custom error message, and not the default.

Any thoughts? It seems such a simple thing, but I've not been able to work it out.

Thanks as always

How to Add Custom SOAP Headers Into The Server Response Message in WSE3.0?

Hi Dear All, Assuming I am the service provider, may i know how many ways are there to insert a custom header into the server response message? So far I tried several ways, and it can be done in custom SoapFilters (by playing with SOAPEnvelope object), and SoapExtension (SOAPMessage object). Just wondering if this could be done at web service class by specifying a SOAPHeader attribute, just like adding a SOAPHeader into the SOAP request message at consumer side? If can, it might be much smarter than SoapFilter and SoapExtension.   Thanks in advance!   Best Regards, Charles

MessageSecurityException "Identity check failed for outgoing message" when using custom endpointaddr

Hi! I am currently developing a WCF service which will use ASP.NET Membership and RoleProvider as authentication/authorization. I followed the description in on this page http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff647294.aspx to do this, and everything works as expected when I try add a reference to my development service and uses that without any interaction. But, I want to be able to override the enpoint address in code since the server may be placed on other servers, but when I do this in my code (with the same enpointAddress stated in the client wcf file for testing purpose) I get a MessageSecurityException with this information: "Identity check failed for outgoing message. The expected DNS identity of the remote endpoint was 'localhost' but the remote endpoint provided DNS claim 'MyCert'. If this is a legitimate remote endpoint, you can fix the problem by explicitly specifying DNS identity 'MyCert' as the Identity property of EndpointAddress when creating channel proxy." I have search the net for information about this, and found that the only thing I had to do was to add a <dns value="MyCert" /> to my client wcf configuration, and everything should work. But it doesn't, I still get the same error. My server behavior configuration looks like this: <serviceCredentials> <serviceCertificate findValue="CN=MyCert" />

How to embed jquery library in ASP.NET Custom Server Control

Query Correlation faliure using custom Request/Reply Message Contract classes.

Hi,I have a service which is correlated by a Guid query. When I'm using designer created Message Content/Parameters feature for message definition, everithing working lika a charm. But If I define custom [MessageContract] Request/Reply classes (where request class has Guid SvcUID property for correlation), and choose'em as Message Content in the designer with proper CorrelatesOn definition of course, I have got a service exception about correlation query faliure. Have you folks tried to apply your custom [MessageContract] classes for correlated communication?

How do i display a custom message when my ListBox is empty?

I've got a ListBox. Its ItemsSource is Data-Bound to a Dataset.

When there are entries in the Dataset, the ListBox displays them, and it doesn't look so bad.

The ListBox is big, so when its empty it looks weird on the Window.

What i want to do is to display a custom mesasge somewhere inside the listbox(maybe in the center) if there is nothing to display. But i've had no luck sofar.

How could i go about achieving this?

Access Denied Error Message from Custom Webpart

I am new to MOSS so can anyone please help me to solve this problem.

I've a list in MOSS-2007, and a group of people with Read Only Rights so they cannot change any list item. But I want to give them access to edit one column (i-e Comments) in that list.

So I created a custom web part page and put a comments text box in it. At DispForm.aspx page of list there is a link which redirects to Custom page for adding comments and I am passing Item ID in query string.

But the problem is that when anyone adds the comment on custom page an ACCESS DENIED message appears. I've even set "web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true" but didn't work

                SPWeb web = SPContext.Current.Web;
                SPList lstTIX = web.Lists["ListName"];

Creating a custom message encoder for webHttpBinding

I need to strip off the DTD declarations from an incoming XML stream using a custom message encoder.  I'm using a WCF RESTful service to send XML to jQuery/AJAX web pages.

Unfortunately, the <bindings /> section where I added my custom message encoder for removing the DOCTYPE declarations doesn't appear to support custom bindings.  The other binding types (basic for example) do allow for this.

At runtime, I get an exception that says my element is not recognized.  The same element however is picked up fine when placed in a basicHttpBinding.

jquery validation error message - place in the specified div whose class is putmehere !

I decided to use jquery validations because asp.net validation controls are so crazy inside the update panel.

But I need to plase the error messages in the specified div whose class is putmehere ! I am unable to do that. here is my code;

<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent" Runat="Server">
    <script src="../JQuery/jquery-1.4.2.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="../JQuery/Validation/jquery.validate.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
        $(document).ready(function() {
                rules: {
                    <%=TextBox1.UniqueID %>: {
                        minlength: 2,
                        required: true
                     <%=TextBox2.UniqueID %>: {
                        required: true,
                }, messages: {
                    <%=TextBox1.UniqueID %>:{
                        required: "* Required Field *",
                        minlength: "* Please enter atleast 2 characters *"

jQuery Custom Invalid Validation

Is there a method in jQuery that I can customize an invalid validation myself instead of using jQuery plug-in validation?

For example, if the form is valid do this below.

if ($('form').valid()) {
    //do something

But if I wanted to have a cutomize invalid method I could do this below.

if (!x == y) {
     $('form').valid() = False; //Sad

     alert('Form is not valid.');

Thank You,

Need help with a custom error page that shows the error message details

I know how to alter the web config to redirect to an errors page but what I need to do is have the actual offending error message print to that page. This is a special request for testing reasons, I realize the whole point of a custom error page is to provide a user friendly message when an error occurs but for testing we want to show the user the message so they can copy and paste it into a ticketing system we are using for beta testing feedback.

Should I use the global.asax instead? I am pretty new to vb.net and am not sure how to get the actual error message to display on my custom error page. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Custom Message Logging Listener logKnownPii=true (Getting client IP)

I have implemented a custom trace listener for WCF message logging. this listener writes stuff to SQL and sends emails on errors. all is good so far.

now i wanted to log also the client IP that called my service from my trace listener. i know about the logKnownPii attribute. i set it to true on both my machine.config and web.config. but it seems to have no affect at all. my relevant configuration is as follows:
