Where's my Microsoft##SSEE? Can't connect, isn't in the Network Configuration, Doesn't show with

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I've been having various problems with Sharepoint etc since migrating from SBS2003 to SBS2008, but currently my problems all seem to be coming back to this one thing:

The Windows Internal Database (Microsoft##SSEE)

In the SQL Server Configuration Manager it's there under SQL Server 2005 Services.

It's NOT there when I look under SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration, and it's not there in portqry2 either.

I can connect to SBSMonitoring with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express using Windows Authentication, but while I can select it from the "browse for more" list, I can't connect to the Microsoft##SSEE instance the same way. It gives me an error 26.

I am doing this from the server the instance is running on. Any ideas at all would be welcome.

Full details:

Cannot connect to fangio\MICROSOFT##SSEE.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. cannot connect to the configuration database

Hi All,

Recently I have migrated my SharePoint BackEnd (Database) Server to new hard drive. The reason of migration was to deploy and configure real time database replication by Symantec Veritas. After migration activity I was getting following error message

" cannot connect to the configuration database ".

But when I execute following steps, this errors message gone and everything got fine

1. Enable Named Pipe from SQL Server Configuration Manager > Protocols for MSSQLSERVER

2. Restart  SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service (Note: This service was already running and status was set to automatic ) and

3. Start SharePoint Configuration Wizard

Now I need to know why every time I have to restart this service? When I turned on my sharepoint server machines in the moring I have to restart this service ( SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) otherwise same error message appears (cannot connect to the configuration database). After restarting this service everything gets normal.

Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

Video: The Access Show: Demo of Microsoft Access 2010 Services and Web Databases

Ryan McMinn and Clint Covington have a big announcement for us - Access Services is new functionality as part of SharePoint 2010 that allows users to create databases with forms and reports that run in the browser. (Length: 24:00)

Outlook Unable to connect to MySite's "Social Network"

Running into a really odd issue. I have to farms configred pretty much identically, a production farm and a dev farm. For some reason I'm able to set up a social network connection from outlook to my dev farm without any problems but I get "invalid user name or password" when I try and connect tot he production farm. There's no errors showing in the SPLogs or the event viewer. I've checked everything I can think of but knowing me I'm missing something really small.

SSRS Report based on SSAS Cubes doesn't show NULL values correctly

I have a SSRS report which is based on an SSAS Cube. In the Cube the formating of numeric fields that NULL values are properly shown as NULL values. In the Cube Browser and Excel this is shown correctly. However when I design the report already the query against SSAS shows these fields as "0" instead of NULL. Is there a way to fix this or is this a bug ?

Cannot connect to the configuration database

local pipes vs. network pipes (to connect to SQL Server)

Choosing a Network Protocol (SQL Server 2008 R2) tells: "It is also important to clarify if you are talking about local pipes or network pipes. If the server application is running locally on the computer that is running an instance of SQL Server, the local Named Pipes protocol is an option. Local named pipes runs in kernel mode and is very fast" Well, it is not me who is talking in cited article, I believe so. Should it be understood that "If the server application is running locally on the computer that is running an instance of SQL Server" and configuring/choosing Named Pipes mean running "local Named Pipes"?

Reporting Services doesn't connect to database automatically

Hello. I use Windows 2003 R2 x64 and SQL Server 2005 x64.  The problem is: if the Reporting Services Service were doesn't start automatically, despite the set up parameter "Restart Automatically" every 1 minute in the service Recovery property. So every minute after Service stopped i recieve an error in Event Viewer: Report Server (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database However, after starting it manually from Computer Management->Services or Reporting Services Configuration Tool it starts normally without any error. I use local system admin account to start Services and to connect to Database. Both parameters are set using RS Configuration Tool. Will be thankful for any advice.

Cannot connect to the configuration database after updating SQL SP3

hi, We're using WSS 3.0 with SQLExpress 2005. Because Symantec Backup Exec 2010 also install on this server, so I have to update to SQL Service Pack 3. But after updated to sql service pack 3 and installed Backup Exec 2010, I cannot connect to sharepoint. When I access to Central Administration, an error appears: "Cannot connect to the configuration database" I followed this instruction: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823287 but the problem still persists. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks

Web Part Page doesn't show current navigation

Hi! I'm having a problem with the navigation of web part page in Sharepoint 2010. For starters I need to say that I am a web designer and learning to brand Sharepoint 2010 wich means I'm not that tech-savvy so bear with me. We have created an intranet publishing site with Sharepoint 2010 and I have designed a custom master page with styles through Visual Studio 2010. The intranet site looks fine with the new design and I got navigation working with fly out menus, semantic subpages etc. The problem is: when I create a normal page the current sub-navigation is shown and it even shows my created web part page and all is fine, but once I go to this web part page, the left/sub-navigation disappears and I have no idea how to bring it back. The web part page uses the same master file as every other page. Everything with the the layout stays the same as my masterpage, except for the menu wich disappear so I thought it might be some property missing on the sub-navigation. Or do I need to edit something in the web part page layout in the gallery?: Master Page Gallery > BlankWebPartPage.aspx If so can I do it from Visual Studio? Here is the code for the left navigation menu: <!-- styles needed to have left nav to the left of the main area --> <div id="s4-leftpanel" class="s4-notdlg"> <!-- The quick launch bar / left navigation

Using jQuery .hide() and .show() on panel sets doesn't maintain status through postback. Viewstate

I'm using jQuery against a set of three asp panels.  I set up an 'onChange' function for a dropdown list that dictates which panels to hide and show based on the UI selection. When the page first loads, one of the panels will be shown, the others will be hidden.  Let's say pnlOne is showing because the dropdown has option 1 selected.  This is done on the server with this:pnlOne.Style.Add("display","block");//and all the other panels are set to ".Style.Add("display","none");" based on logic. Then, the user selects a different value in the dropdown.  Let's say they select option number 2.  With javascript and jQuery I do this:$("#<%=pnlOne.ClientID %>").hide();$("#<%=pnlTwo.ClientID %>").hide();$("#<%=pnlThree.ClientID %>").hide();switch($("#<%= ddlOptionNumber.ClientID %> option:selected").text()){case "1":$("#<%= pnlOne.ClientID %>").show();break;case "2": etc.,}The issue is when the page posts back.  I'm running client side validation only at this point.  (Even if I add client side in the future I will still run client side as well to avoid security issues.)  When the validation functions detect an issue and the page returns to be displayed, the original panel (pnlOne)

Cannot connect to SQL Server 2005 locally by Windows Authentication, but network connection is succe

Cannot connect to SQL Server 2005 locally by Windows Authentication DOMAIN \ myname. But network connection is successful.   But SQL Server Logins contain   BUILTIN \ Administrators, and                                                    BUILTIN \  Administrators contain DOMAIN \ Domain Admins, and                                                    DOMAIN \ Domain Admins contain DOMAIN \ myname.   Creating SQL Server Login with DOMAIN \ myname entail successful local connection.   Removing SQL Server Login with DOMAIN \ myname and creating SQL Server Login with DOMAIN \ Domain Admins do NOT entail successful connection.
