The type 'DataGrid' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

Hi; I'm new to WPF and I was going through the ExpenseIt tutorial on MSDN's website. The tutorial was working fine until I added DataGrid. I got the error message: "The type 'DataGrid' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built."     I could not find a clear answer online of which assembly references to fix and how to fix them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!     Note: I'm running the following: Windows Vista 32-bit operating system Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.1 SP Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 SP1

"Assembly '...' Was Not Found" When including a reference to a local namespace

I've got a WPF application with a window and a usercontrol:   Window:   <Window x:Class="UI.Windows.Main" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:UI.Windows.Documents" Title="Window1" Height="600" Width="800"> <DockPanel> <!-- Snip --> </DockPanel> </Window>     UserControl:   <UserControl x:Class="UI.Windows.Documents.MyDisplay" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x=http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml> <Grid> <!-- Snip --> </Grid> </UserControl>       Now, when I try to look at this in the designer i get an error saying Assembly 'UI' was not found.  I've searched high and low, but the internet is full of references to this being a 2005 issue and the solution is to upgrade to 2008.  I'm already using 2008 (don't even have 2005 installed on the machine), and I still get the problem.

The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must

Hi,

This is frustrating, and I don't know how to solve it.

I have a strange problem. I am adding a LinqDatasource object, and set the context:

        protected void LinqDataSource_ContextCreating(object sender, LinqDataSourceContextEventArgs e)
        {
            e.ObjectInstance = new KaruselaDataContext(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString);
        }

Then I get this error:
The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

On web.config I already have this:
<add assembly="System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/>

NOTE: The datacontext is in a different project (DLL proect) where I added a refernce to System.Data.Linq.

is there another way adding a refernce to a web project? or only though teh web.config?

Thanks.

Registering controls of current assembly object reference NOT set error

Hi There,

I have created a simple ASP.net Web Application (2.0) and have added a web user control.

Now in my page I have added this control but I have registered like this,

<%@ Register Assembly="WebApplication1" Namespace="WebApplication1" TagPrefix="Custom" %>

Which means I want to access all the controls in my current Web Application project

Then I have added my user control like this,

<Custom:MyUserControl ID="MyUserControl1" runat="server" PublicProperty="Hello" />

Every thing is fine but when I execute the project, NO control on my user control gets "instantiated" and thus I receive error "Object Reference Not Set"

Note that My Control has,

1) Public property PublicProperty as String

2) 1 Label control

In Load Event Handler I am setting Text property of Label Control to PublicProperty. Here object reference NOT set error occurs (which means Label control is NOT initialized).

I don't want to register my control using Src, TagPrefix etc. Any ideas?

Thanks

DirectoryEntry type not found

 Can someone tell me why the system does not recognize DirectoryEntry in the code below?  It indicates DirectoryEntry cannot be found.

        DirectoryEntry objRootDSE = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + objectDn);
        ArrayList props = new ArrayList();
        foreach (string strAttrName in objRootDSE.Properties.PropertyNames)
        {
            props.Add(strAttrName);
        }
        return props;
    }

DataGrid is missing from Visual Studio 2010 Toolbox

My machine is a Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition. I am trying to convert an existing project to .NET 4 with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. All updates and service packs are applied. My project is a WPF Forms Application. In the application properites, the Target framework is set to .NET Framework 4 Problem:  I am trying to add a DataGrid, but the DataGrid is missing from the Toolbox!   1.  Open Toolbox   2.  Notice that under "All WPF Controls" DataGrid is missing.   3.  Right-click title bar of "All WPF Controls".   4.  Select "Choose Items" from menu.   5.  "Choose Toolbox Items" Dialog box appears.       Put a check in the DataGrid box.   6.  Hit OK At this point the Dialog Box disappears, but the ToolBox menu is not updated. There is no DataGrid item under "All WPF Controls", and I cannot add it. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Charles

Cannot register a service type without attaching the source assembly to the host process

I'm wondering if there is any way I can register a service type without attaching the source assembly to the host process. When I register the service type, the source assembly (which has the type) cannot be written.   I appreciate your attention..

Error Build: Type or namespace could not be found, when referencing a web service

Hello, I'm new in writing C# application in Visual Studio 2008. I'm currently writing a web application for CRM 4.0 Reporting Service rendering. I reference my web application to our Reporting Service web service http://reportservername /ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx and name it 'RSWebReference'. Then I want to reference it in my code: Using RSWebReference; Not sure why, but I cannot build my solution, saying "The type or namespace name 'RSWebReference' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)". I read this thread in http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/74f70e30-83e8-4817-b5e0-7729450730a1 that the website probably is using .net 1.1, and I should change it to .net 2.0. However, I think the website is already using 2.0. Is it probably because I'm using VS 2008? How can I tell and change if the website is using 1.1 or 2.0? Or could I be doing something wrong? Thanks in advanced for your help! -Elizabeth K.
