I have a publisher and a subscriber. The distributor resides on the subsciber. It is transactional replication. The SQL Server version on both servers is SQL Server 9.00.3175.00 (x86). Offlate, we noticed that the latency is huge from distributor to subscriber.
The latency from distributor to subscriber starts from 1 hour and proceeds upto 72 hours in a couple of days. Due to the huge latency, the distributor db size is also growing high. However, at the same time, the latency from publisher to distributor is very
low (a few seconds).
Once per day, the distribution agent fails with an error saying that the subscription has marked inactive and must be be reinitialized. However, the subscription option has been set to "never expire but can be deactivated until
they are reinitialized"
Please point me in the right direction so I can investigate further. What could be causing the latency from the distributor to the subscriber?
