I'm having a problem opening XAML files in Visual Studio 2010. When I open a XAML file, Visual Studio become very slow and the XAML file never produces an outline or a rendered version of the XAML. When I click in the text of the XAML, it can
take several minutes for the cursor to appear where I clicked. The XAML file is rather small - just a grid with some basic controls on it (a grid, stack panel, radio buttons, date pickers, etc). The problem occurs if I open any XAML file in the
When I watch devenv.exe in the task manager, as soon as I open a XAML file, the process is consuming 100% of one of the CPUs and begins eating chunks of memory at the rate of about 5MB/second and creating a new thread about every two seconds.
The memory use grows until it's about 700MB and the number of threads climbs to between 450-470 before it levels off. Even after it stops producing new threads and consuming more memory, the XAML file is still unresponsive and it's still using 100% of
one of the CPUs. Even after a half hour, the CPU is still at 100% with 452 threads.
I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Visual Studio but I'm still having the same problem.
I'm running XP sp3 32-bit with VS 2010 Ultimate on a dual core machine with 4GB RAM. At this point I simply can't edit XAML
