Last user permission in SQL server Report Manager overwrite previous permission

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I have successfully customized form authentication for SQL Server 2008 reporting services. SQL Server 2008 report manager page is worknig fine and it used database users to do login. Now I found one big problem. If user_1 (normal user) login in report manager, and then keep browser open. At this time, Admin user login report manager at same machine, but open another browser. At this time, when user_1 click any button/link or refresh page, user_1 will have Admin user permission.

Any one has any idea ? what is my problem and  how can I debug it ?

thanks

Gary

Permission Errors for Users on Home Page only of SQL Server Reporting Services Report Manager

I have spent days now investigating this problem, so any help very much appreciated! I have a remote web server 2003 running SQL Server R2 Express Edition with Reporting Services installed. I use Report Builder 3.0 locally to build report. If I login via Internet to Report Manager Web Page as an administrator I can perform all the expected and required actions, creating new folders and assigning permissions for users etc. I have added a new user "ReportUser" as a Browser of a child folder. If ReportUser longs on to home page, he receives the all too familiar error: User 'XXXXXXXX\reportuser' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed. However, if the user starts at the child folder of home page, and then logs in, he sees the expected page, and can run the report!  This is not very satisfactory. How can I allow user to see home page, without an error message, but not be allowed to click on any folders to which he is not entitled? I am now aware that SQL Server R2 Express Edition has many limitations compared with full Editions (fixed roles, cannot manage Report Service from Management Studio etc) , and many of the "solutions" offered on the web just do not apply.   John Walton

User does not have permission to perform this action( Microsoft SQL Server, Error:15247)

Hi,

I was able to do my work with ease on my Database server, until sometime Friday evening. Don't exactly know what transpired, only that I can now no longer run queries or even create new databases. Here is a sample of what happens when I try to create a database

Create Database PetitionSample

Msg 262, Level 14, State 1, Line 1

CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.

I used to be able to create databases, create new users and so on. My Server is installed on a Vista machine and I am running Developer version and using Management studio 2008 to access it. Anyone have any idea what could be going on?

SQL Server 2005 Grant User Permission to Create Stored Procedure and Grant Execute Access to another

I'm trying to determine the minimal amount of access I can give my developers to be able to run create stored procedure scripts with an inclusion of the grant execute to the application user group.

We have been developing some interesting work arounds, but I think there must be an easier way to grant the access.

Grant Create Stored Procedure to user1 on a specific database

Grant Permission to Grant Execute permission for Stored Procedures on a specific Database to user1 for any user.

Error "user does not have permission to perform this operation" with User Instance = True.

I setup SQL Server 2005 / SQL Express. All works fine in SQL Server 2005.

I am connecting to a SQL Database from VS 2005,  Tools/Connect to Database. I set the Data Source to "Microsoft SQL Server Database File (SqlClient)" (meaning SQL Server Express) and User Instance = True, and Integrated Security = True.

The above is working successfully on all machines except my Laptop. On my Laptop, I am getting this error "user does not have permission to perform this operation". On my Laptop, if I change User Instance = False, it works fine. Also, If I connect to SQL Server 2005 it works fine only if User Instance = False.

I tried all kind of security changes, nothing worked. For example, I setup Everyone as Full Control for the Folder and the MDF File of SQL Server. I gave my user ID as sysadmin role in SQL Server Express. Also, I enabled creating User Instance form SQL Server Express, Nothing is working.

Appreciate your help.

Tarek.

SQL User Permission (No answer found by searching)

Hello all!   I'm hoping someone will be able to answer my simple question!   Previously, I've run the below script to give one user access to their db in SQL management studio but nothing else. use [someDB] -- use the real db name go sp_changedbowner 'theUser' -- use the new username go 4. Next, deny the new user "public" access to ALL databases: use master go deny VIEW any DATABASE to theUser go   However I now need to add an additional user with view on permissions to the database and can't figure out how to do it. I'm sure it's simple but my SQL knowledge is at a low level.   Many thanks, Lee.

Restored copy of DB gives bizarre DENY permission to a dbo user

We took a backup of our PROD database and restored it in our Integration testing environment, and ran a script to alter the schema from the current PROD schema to the new schema we wanted to test in Integration testing. This same script has worked fine in two other environments and exhibited no issues. However, on our SQL cluster in the Integration testing environment, the script (which is hundreds of lines long and performs numerous things that require you to be dbo to do) fails on one line, a basic UPDATE statement on a single table.  The table has no deny permissions, and only has explicit grant permissions for the Application Role that accesses it.  Other users who are dbo can UPDATE the table.  I can UPDATE all other tables and do everything else a dbo should be able to do.  On every other SQL instance we have tried this on, it works. For some reason, this error only occurs specifically on this one instance of SQL, with my specific user, and this specific table.  I am baffled as to what could be going on, but need to get this repaired to bring our Integration testing environment back on line. What could be causing this? The Pragmatic TSQL Programmer

Windows 7 CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 26

Hi I have migrated to a new computer using Windows 7, 6 gig memory, I7 chip (old machine had xp) and have installed Visual Studio 2008 and  SQL Server 2008 R2.  I get CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 262) when I try to create a new database.  Other posts (example:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqltools/thread/28fee0ed-c7e2-40df-8f79-f513c9848f09/) work for Vista but I cannot find how to grant permissions.  Run as administrator (vista fix) does not work. I have admin privaleges on my machine.  There are no other accounts.    What do I need to do to update privaleges? Thanks and have a nice day.

When I disable user instances, and then try to connect from VS, I get a different error, which is asking to enable user instances.

user permission in granula level in SharePoint version 2

Hi, everyone:   I am administrator of a SharePoint v2 site. I found that I can either give "view item" or "view item, insert item, remove item and update item" permission to users, no middle. However, I do wish to give some users "view, edit" permission, but no "insert and remove item" permission.   So, does SharePoint v2 support this in out of box feature? if yes, how to make it, if no how can we achieve in easiest way?   Thank u MySTfrom Finland :D

User permission error

I have a VS 2010 website that is reading and writing to a SQL Server 2008 filestream. By filestream, I mean that I have a table in a SQL Server 2008 database that is configured for filestreaming (ie - the table has a RowGuid column and a varbinary(MAX) column that is filestream enabled). The website is able to read and write to the filestream just fine and has been doing so for months now. However, there is one minor detail about using the filestream that has plagued me since the beginning, and were it not for a hack - at least I consider it to be one - then my filestreaming would not work. The problem is that for some reason when my website makes a connection to the filestream (via the .NET SqlFileStream class) it always attempts to authenticate with the name of the webserver. For example, I have a brand new web server called WebSrvPrd01 that I just placed my website on (the one that is using the filestream). When I try to do anything that uses the filestream (either writing or reading to) it throws the following exception:Login failed for user 'SUPER-NT\WebSrvPrd01$'.At this point, I then have to go into SQL Server and add the domain and user SUPER-NT\WebSrvPrd01$ to the database and give them access rights accordingly. After having done so the website will have no problems and the filestream works wonderfully. However, I don't like this solution! It presents a bit

Don't see tab and toolbar of the report manager application after installing sql server reporting s

Hello everyone: I have tried to install and configure Reporting Service. I found lots of  errors along the way. The first one was an error (500.23) from IIS7. I applied the suggested solution on the IIS screen which was migrating configuration using AppCmd ( %SystemRoot%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd migrate config "Default Web Site/"). Next problem was  : Request is not available in this context Stack Trace: [HttpException (0x80004005): Request is not available in this context] System.Web.HttpContext.get_Request() +3465893 Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.Global.get_ConfigurationManager() +47 Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.GlobalApp.Application_Start(Object sender, EventArgs e) +32  This error was caused by the fact that Report Server and Report Manager were configured to DefaultAppPool in the Reporting Service Configuration Manager. I have switched to Classic .Net AppPool  for both Report Server and Report Manager and it has fixed the problem. Now my problem is that the Report Manager Application ( http://localhost/reports/folders.aspx ) shows no tab, toolbar or folder. What I now have on the Report Manage Application page is the header with the title and [home] and [Help] button links on the top right corner. I have made a report to test the problem but no folder shows o

Issues with updating Lists with Manager Names and User Profile Imports in SharePoint 2010 Server

I am having a curious problem with SharePoint 2010 Server. I have imported all the user profiles of our organization into SharePoint User Profile Service Application from our Active Directory. When the Manager name imports it comes in as domain/login. The organizational browser seems to work for MOST people, but not all. I believe this is contributing to my second problem, which is, I have setup a very simple workflow in SharePoint Designer that simply looks up the persons Manager, then places that information into a field called "Approval 1". After that it looks at Approval 1 and get the Manager name and populated "Approval 2" with that information, and so on. I have used an Impersonation Step as the Farm Administrator in the workflow and I have done it without the impersonation step. Both results in the same problem. When I enter my name into the list and run the workflow it runs beautifully give every manager up the chain to the top. However, if I put any other person's name in there it gives me the error "Workflow failed to get user profile for user: ____". I went to my supervisor's office and asked him to run the workflow. Using his login he had the exact same result--if my name was in there it worked great, otherwise, it gave an error. Any help with this strange error would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

SSL sql server permission

I am attempting to setup SSL with SQL Server 2005. I do not wish to have the domain account that is running the SQL Server Service be an administrator.  What rights/permissions does this account require in order to start sql server with an SSL certificate? I have tried putting the certificate in the local store but you need to be an admin to see it there.  If I put the certificate in SQL Server Service account's personal store, I can't start sql server. "The server could not load the certificate it needs to initiate an SSL connection. It returned the following error: 0x8009030d. Check certificates to make sure they are valid." Is the error I get. Thank you for your help.

SSRS 2008 - report manager: System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server

I have an instance of Reporting Services 2008 running on Windows 2003 server.  So, the webservice URL is running on port 801, and runs fine (I can browse reports from that directory, and upload / deploy new reports and overwrite existing reports. Report manager is set to use port 800 (IIS is also on that machine running port 80).  When I attempt to connect to report manager, I get the following error, with a link to "Home" in report manager (which brings me back to the existing error page):    Unable to connect to the remote server  In the logfiles for reporting services, the following error is there: " System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.   Any ideas? Windows Firewall is NOT running on this machine.   Thanks, Chrisrjp
