SSIS Environment Variable Standard Edtion Vs Enterprise Edition

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

We current use SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition and we have our SSIS package working great where the server names are picked from Environment Variables file stored on the server. We are now planning to use SQL 2008 R2 STANDARD edition and for some reason the SSIS package which works great on SQL 2005 using variables is not working on SQL 2008 R2. It complains about not able to find the location/environment variables.

Question: Is the Environment variables thing supported in SQL 2008 R2 STANDARD Edition?

Thanks !

SSIS Deployment Reads local Environment Variable and not Server

Hi All, I have an SSIS package that uses an Environment variable to hold the connection string for the local SSISConfiguration table.  This works properly on my local machine.  However, when I import the package to Integration Services(through SSMS) it reads the environment variable from the local machine and not the server it is deployed to.  If I log on to the server remotely and do the same process it uses the the correct environment varible... (SQL Server 2005) Is there a way to deploy the package to the server and get it to use the correct Env variable without having to log-in to the server and import it?  Let me know if anyone is looking for additional information.   Thanks!

Content migration from MOSS Enterprise edition to MOSS Standard edition

Hi,     I have developed a web application using MOSS 2007 enterprise edition. I have customized the site using custom ASPX pages, custom Webpart and custom features. Also I referred http://blog.brianfarnhill.com/2009/03/19/changing-list-forms-through-code/ for updating the contents of list forms. I have configured SQL-Form based Authentication for this site. Now I have a need to migrate this site to an environment which has MOSS 2007 standard edition and use a Active Directory Authentication instead of SQL-Form based Authentication. So can anyone guide me wether this scenario is possible or it will create any compatibility issue?      Which are the precautions I need to consider for performing this task? I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks, Patav

Is Enterprise Edition necessary for a remote distributor, or is Standard edition sufficient

We're implementing SQLServer 2005 peer to peer replication on two servers running SQLServer 2005 EE. We also want each server to use a remote distributor (2 additional servers). Can we run SQLServer 2005 Standard Edition on the remote distributors, or is it necessary that they too need Enterprise edition?

enterprise edition vs standard edition

what are the main difference between SQL Server 2005 Enterprise edition and SQL Server 2005 Standard editions?

SQL 2005 Standard to Enterprise Edition upgrade on existing three-node cluster

Current set-up: three node cluster running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2 with two instances of SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition SP2.

Virtual node 1: Standard Edition, default instance, Database Engine only

Virtual node 2: Standard Edition, named instance, Database Engine, Analysis Services and Integration Services

Physical node A: Prefered node for virtual node 1

Physical node B: Failover node for both virtual node 1 and 2 (thus having two installations of Standard Edition)

Physical node C: Prefered node for virtual node 2

We started off with this set-up because there was no need for Enterprise features, and SQL 2005 supports failover clustering with two nodes in Standard Edition. Saved a bundle of cash, so everybody's happy. Now we need to run a solution on virtual node 2 that requires Enterprise features in Analysis and Integration Services, so an edition upgrade is required on virtual node 2. I have done some research and found several edition upgrade examples, but none that match the above scenario. We are running production on these machines, so I can't risk experimenting with command line options, I have to be right the first time.

Is it possible to mix two editions of SQL Server 2005 in one cluster? Can I upgrade virtual node 2 to Enterprise but leave virtual node 1 at

Upgrade SQL server 2008 R2 from Evaluation Edition to Enterprise Edition

Hello SQL Support group, I have SQl server 2008 R2 installed on a Win 2003 R2 and it is for our SharePoint and Project server 2007 environment. Today I noticed that we have only 75 days left! Seems like we installed it on evaluation mode. Here what we have on Helpàabout : Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Complete (expires in 75 days)    10.50.1352.12 We do have MSDN account, and we have the KEY that comes with the SQL server 2008 R2 enterprise. We would like to assign the key to our SQl server ( we want to have enterprise edition). It is in a production environment now. I would like to know how we can do it  with minimum of down time. I found this link: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sqlman/archive/2010/03/16/sql-server-2008-upgrading-to-standard-enterprise-edition-from-evaluation-edition.aspx On the internet, but doesn’t say anything that we are losing any data after upgrade or not. Please let us know the best way to assign the key, and if it has any impact in our data. Thanks Bahram
