How to index the SSIS Business Key

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am using SCD to create a data warehouse and I am attempting to optimize the creation of thje dimensional data by looking into index creation on the destination table. Since SCD only allows a single Business Key designation, I would assume that I should index that column however after thinking about it I cant see how (after several dimensions are created) that an index on the business key alone would suffice. Would nt an index be appropriate on the business key as well as the primary-record column?

Index droping problem in SSIS package?

Hi All, I have one ssis package. After load the staging data I am creating index in one column. I am dropping the index end of package. But sometimes after create the index if I got any error I need to re run the package, already index is created so that’s why  once again I will get a error. So that purpose drop index statement I used before create index sqltask. If the first time package runs the table don’t have index. If the table have index it will drop the index otherwise it will skip that task. I used below code. But I am getting the error index is not dropped properly. IF EXISTS (SELECT name FROM sys.indexes WHERE name =   N'IND1_TRAN_DT ')  DROP INDEX  IND1_TRAN_DT  ON SLS_STNT_DTL_STGNG;   Thanks CMK

SSIS 2008 - Fuzzy lookup warming index takes too much time

Hello All,

We are using Fuzzy lookup transformation in our SSIS package.

We have selected option to store and maintain index for first time. And for subsequent executions, we use option to use existing index. So it will not create new index each time. We are doing fuzzy lookup on single source table with single column. The source table contains more than 2.5 million rows.

So while executing the package, although its not taking time to build complete index. But still it takes considerable time and uses large memory whenever we execute it.

We have also set the WarmCache option to true. Although all data is loaded into memory and removed after execution.

Is there any other way so we can keep the data in memory, so for subsequent execution, it gets result directly from memory?

Please let me know if you have any suggestion? Its urgent.

Thanks in advance.

Business Modelling and Web Applications and extending UML

UML can be used to model a business, prior to automating it with computers. The same basic UML syntax is used, however, a number of new symbols are added, in order to make the diagrams more relevant to the business process world. A commonly-used set of these symbols is available in current versions of Rational Rose.

Using Conditional Split data Transfer in SSIS 2008

This article uses the Integration Services Conditional Split Data Transformation element to filter and transfer data from a set of flat text files to SQL Server database table. The concept can be easily extended to apply to any other source or destination such as Microsoft Excel. This scenario is useful in creating denormalized database tables in a reporting and analysis situation.

Business object design in master details.

Hello guys, I have the following scenario,

  1. There is a master business object containing 40 fields
  2. 2 separate child business objects
  3. If I update a child record, I have to update master's 'Last modify by' status along with 3 or more fields in master
  4. For this purpose, I don't want to initialize a separate Master class object (as most of the fields are unused/wasted)
  5. The 'last modify by' also gets updated if the records in master get updated themselves

Currently I have separate business objects for master table, Child 1, Child 2 etc.

How do I control this in my business object design ? Do I break up my master object ? Say I extract last 'modify by ' into a new class, through inheritance or some other way ?

Is there a way that whenever child gets updated I use a 'small' class to update Master status only and whenever the master itself gets updated I do the same.

Problem is that I am having redundancy in my small class (Master class also contains 'Last Modify By ',

What would you advice. Please have your say. Thank you.

Edit  I am using webforms guys.

This month's issue of MSDN Magazine takes a look at some of the new features and tools in Visual Studio 2010 and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 that will continue improving the experience of creating business applications that run on the Microsoft Office platform.
