High-Performance .NET Application Development & Architecture

It has always been a goal of project architects to plan an effective strategy from the ground up in regards to an new application. All relevant factors are taken into consideration with respect to the application, from its design and layout to a functional website infrastructure. Pre-.NET strategies and design guidelines still effective now were developed with Microsoft's DNA (Distributed interNet Application) platform. This model successfully served the purpose of architecting N(any number of)-Tier (levels) applications. In its basic sense, as in most robust, distributed applications, you'll architect 3 main layers or Tiers: presentation, business rules and data access.

Logic behind N -Tier Application Development

In the arena of application development, developers all over the world use various programming languages, technical processes, and technical tools. While using number of technical & non technical elements the processes or methods become complex, for simplification of the application development process, developers use various techniques such as dividing the application architecture into layers or parts. In the professional & technical language this separation or division process is called N-Tier Application Development process, where "N" stands for number and "tire" stands for layers or parts.

Problem making Role based Menu in MVC application

I want to make Rolebase menu in MVC such that if user doesnot have permission for some action then that Action name shouldnot be shown in the Menu.

I have used the code in the url(http://forums.asp.net/t/1566328.aspx) in my MVC application. My application is a Discussion Forum(in MVC) same functionality as in this forum forums.asp.net

I have used Controllers for post, thread etc.In each controller there are some actions that are using [Authorize(Roles)] attribute

but this coding does not count  those Actions in Controllers having Authorize attribute according to the url http://forums.asp.net/t/1566328.aspx

In the code, Authorize attribute is applied to Controller class, but my requirement is of Applying Authorize attribute to some actions in controller so that some are available for all users and  some links are available rolewise. Now what is the solution for that?

Windows Forms: Give Your .NET-based Application a Fast and Responsive UI with Multiple Threads

If your application performs any non-UI processing on the thread that controls the user interface, it may make the app seem slow and sluggish, frustrating users. But writing multithreaded apps for Windows has long been restricted to C++ developers. Now with the .NET Framework, you can take advantage of multiple threads in C# to control the flow of instructions in your programs and isolate the UI thread for a fast and snappy user interface. This article shows you how. Also, it discusses the pitfalls of multiple threads and presents a framework for safe concurrent thread execution.

Security: Unify the Role-Based Security Models for Enterprise and Application Domains with .NET

Role-based security allows administrators to assign access permissions to users based on the roles they play rather than on their individual identities. These privileges can be used to control access to objects and methods, and are easier to identify and maintain than user-based security. The .NET Framework provides two role-based security models, which are exposed as two namespaces: System.Enterprise-Services and System.Security.Permissions. Presented here is a comparison of the two options and a discussion of when each is the right choice. The author also demonstrates the process involved in setting up access security and discusses role memberships.

WCF Workflow Service Application - Required Extensions

Hello, I built a WCF Workflow Service App and I built a custom activity that requires an extension in the workflow. In a web app, I'm trying to create a service reference to the WCF workflow service but it says that an extension that is required has not been provided; so how do I consume a service with a required extension? At what point do I supply that extension in an ASP.NET scenario? Thanks. http://linkedin.com/in/brianmains

Help Required for SP 2010 development!!!

Hi Dear all, I am new to SharePonit development but have some .Net development experience and I need to develop a small module for classified application for my Company portal. We also have some other small module with this application so I think by making a one project will be a best approach? Would you like to confirm my steps for SharePoint 2010 development: 1). should I use SharePonit 2010 list for storing data for classified application. I think separate database this is not a solution? 2). should I use webpart instead of InfoPath form for data entry form in which user will enter data? When we should use InfoPath form? Regards, M. Forms Based Authentication on Extranet Application

I have a web application that is using classic authentication. I have extended it to my extranet so I can use https from the outside. All of this works, except I would like to have the extranet users not have to type domain\username. I am guessing I need to use claims based authentication with forms. It seems the only way to do this, would be to go back in time, and tell my original application to use claims based instead of windows. Is there a way I could have just my extended site use forms? I would really like to keep my extranet users out of active directory, as they are not part of my company.

touchscreen application development tutorial

I am planning ti develop a simple touchscreen application for a store with the sales item. I wish to use the SQL server 2005 as the database. But I am total newbie in developing a touchscreen application. C#, WPF is what I think would be suitable to make a good User Interface and coding.

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me with the basic starting tutorials(eBooks, links to  video tutorials) and where I can get the resources from.

Thank you in advance.

Framework 1.1 Application errors when run over network

I recently picked up a project for a client that is stuck on the 1.1 framework. The application in itself is fairly straight forward. A few datagrids and pic boxes to display data from an mdb file.

When run from the host machine it works a treat and has no problems whatsoever, but when it is run from a network folder it crashes as soon as it tries to connect to the mdb file. This is running on a dev machine to match the clients so is sat on the 1.1 framework. When I run it on my machine which has all frameworks it works fine.

So does anyone know what I have to do to make this work as it's proving to be a show stopper with the client. And before you ask, they won't move frameworks, I tried getting them to do that and they said no.

Just to add as well, I have very good error trapping throughout the app and it doesn't return anything. All message returned are blank which is making it an even bigger pain in the asre. Considering it's such a simple app.

MVC application problem when running out of Network Service.

I am hosting an ASP.NET MVC 2 application on its own application pool.

Everything works fine if the application pool is running on Network Service with Full Control.

If I make the application pool to run on its application pool identity, even with full control, the web site runs ok but on every page with a form I get the following error:

"Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster."

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Thank You,
