I am facing a strange issue with Policy Based Management. Exact problem is as below
I have Lenovo laptop having 3 SQL instances installed on it.
SQL Server 2005 (x86) Developer Edition 9.00.4053 -- Named Instance :
SQL Server 2008 (x86) Developer Edition 10.0.1600.22 -- Named Instance :
SQL Server 2008 R2 (x86) Developer Edition 10.50.1600.1 -- Named Instance :
I configured SQL2K8R2 instance as a Centralized Server and registed
SQL2K8 & SQL2K5 under this. I configured a new condition by using facet:
MULTIPART NAME. As per this condition Table Should start with
TEST_ in database TEST . Evaluation Mode set to
On Change: Prevent. Idea is if some one logs to database
TEST and tries to create table with name other then starting with
TEST_ then it should fail.
I Imported this policy on registered servers thru Centralized Management Server Action, as expected policy got configured on Registred
Hi! Can someone tell me how I can troubleshoot the
following error: "Encountered multiple versions of the same assembly
with GUID...try pre-importing one of these assemblies".
The website developed in VS 2010 (.Net 3.5). This error is only received on my
workstation. Another person developing the site does not experience
this issue at all. Also, not sure if this matters, but on my workstation the 'Assembly
Information...' dialog contains no values even though the 'AssemblyInfo.vb' file does specify values for the title, desc, etc.
The GUID being referenced in the error is the main project of the three projects
within the solution.
I tried looking through the GAC, but do not see any references to the projects or DLLs in the VS solution and am not sure what else/where to look.
If I delete the copy of the solution on my local machine and pull down a copy from source control (AnkhSVN) the solution will build with no error. Once I make any changes, such as adding a new aspx file, then the error is received.
I can provide any additional information needed.
This is frustrating, and I don't know how to solve it.
I have a strange problem. I am adding a LinqDatasource object, and set the context:
protected void LinqDataSource_ContextCreating(object sender, LinqDataSourceContextEventArgs e)
e.ObjectInstance = new KaruselaDataContext(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString);
Then I get this error:The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Linq, Version=126.96.36.199, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.
On web.config I already have this:<add assembly="System.Data.Linq, Version=188.8.131.52, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/>
NOTE: The datacontext is in a different project (DLL proect) where I added a refernce to System.Data.Linq.
is there another way adding a refernce to a web project? or only though teh web.config?
I added refernece MySql.Data to my project. My web.config looks like that:
<?xml version="1.0"?><configuration> <connectionStrings> </connectionStrings> <system.web> <compilation> <assemblies> <add assembly="MySql.Data, Version=184.108.40.206, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=C5687FC88969C44D"/> </assemblies> </compilation></system.web></configuration>
But when in ServerExplorer I try "Add Connection..." I can't find "MySql Database" in the "Choose Data Source" dialog box?
What the problem can be?
I have created a simple ASP.net Web Application (2.0) and have added a web user control.
Now in my page I have added this control but I have registered like this,
<%@ Register Assembly="WebApplication1" Namespace="WebApplication1" TagPrefix="Custom" %>
Which means I want to access all the controls in my current Web Application project
Then I have added my user control like this,
<Custom:MyUserControl ID="MyUserControl1" runat="server" PublicProperty="Hello" />
Every thing is fine but when I execute the project, NO control on my user control gets "instantiated" and thus I receive error "Object Reference Not Set"
Note that My Control has,
1) Public property PublicProperty as String
2) 1 Label control
In Load Event Handler I am setting Text property of Label Control to PublicProperty. Here object reference NOT set error occurs (which means Label control is NOT initialized).
I don't want to register my control using Src, TagPrefix etc. Any ideas?
I have the following projects in a solution :
- A Web Application
- A Class Library
- A Web Deployment project
The Web Application compiles and run fine when I don't go through the Web Deployment Project. However when I try to use that, I get the following error:
"An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for hibernate-configuration: Could not load file or assembly 'NHibernate' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. (F:\Folke\Folke.csproj_deploy\Release\web.config line 4)"
This is the beginning of my Web.config:

Before you can test any software system effectively, you must understand the system under test. If the system includes the Microsoftî . NET Framework, understanding the system under test includes understanding its assembly and method dependencies.

i need to prevent loading big images e.g max 100KB
but i only store url
1. user put url with image (i remember this string in database not image itself)
this cause that i can not check image size before store url in database
because user can store url and after this operation put bigger file at that location)
2. my web page generate some different image based on first image
and i need to load portion of image
to stream and set buffer size to 100KB + 1 Byte
if stream is larger than 100KB that user put bigger file
how can i accomplish that?
FileStream can not use URI as location only disc location
what should i use instead?
Hi Experts ,
I searched over the web but no luck so far and thought of getting some help form gurus .
Did any out really implemented a way to handle concurrent logins ?
Please not that i'm no using either forms authentication or Roles/Memberships , I do have custom authentication for my website .
I'm sure it is someway related with global.asax file handling something in application events and session events but unable to figure this one out .
Any pointers will highly be valued and appreciated .
Thanks a tonne in advance .
I am just learning MVC, so bear with me.
I would like to have a project that contains all of my Controller logic. I'm not concerned with using Areas, as these are still maintained within the same project.
Consider this scenario:
I have multiple sites/apps that require the exact same interaction in regards to a particular area, say CRUD ops on a user account. I do not want to create all of the controller logic for one site/app, recreate it again for the next, and make sure that I keep all maintenance to each in sync. I would prefer to keep the controllers in a separate project and reference them from the appropriate site.
I know someone will say that the controller logic is a lot of times specific to the application (as I've read elsewhere), but let's just say that it is guaranteed to be the same. I want to focus on the "how" and not the "why".
So far, I've created a class library project with the appropriate references for accessing System.Web.Mvc. How do I proceed with the routing configuration for this? Is this idea even possible? I read a few older articles that were written when Areas were first being introduced that said to create separate projects for them. Is this idea similar to that?
Thanks for your time and noob tolerance.
I wanted to know how to prevent more than one user from
uploading the report at a time .I am new to .net ,plss help with the
code that would be great.Details are below:
This is a Windos based
app written in c# . When User A clicks Upload option on one server
from the menu to upload the files and at the same time when User B
clicks Upload option on different server , User B should be alerted a
message saying "User A's uploading is in progress, pls wait" . How to
achieve this, plsss help with the code.. I am thinking this logic should be kept in a stored proc, How do I write that proc? plss help
Thanks in advance!
I'm a big fan of the Colleague Tracker web part in MOSS 2007 My Sites, especially the option to show 'Membership Changes'. This is often useful in highlighting that a colleague has been added to a certain AD group.
We now want to hide the membership of certain AD groups from the colleague tracker. For example, if an AD group called 'Project X' is created, we don't want membership of the group broadcast throughout the My Sites where colleagues are tracking colleagues.
My first thought was that we could use AD to 'deny read' on the 'Project X' AD group to all SharePoint related service accounts. This does not appear to have worked, although perhaps the configuration is more complex? The best approach would seem to be to
prevent the group membership data ever being imported from AD to the SSP, hence my 'deny read' approach.
Has anyone successfully implemented this, or does anyone have any better ideas?
I have a problem w/ a web app which is probably fairly common, but I cannot find any solutions anywhere. Hopefully someone will have an idea.
The web app in question provides a UI for editing a client (in the business sense, not the browser sense), identified by a ClientID. I store the ClientID in Session, which gets passed from page to page, along with a number of other pieces of data in Session. Works great.
The problem is that if the user opens a new browser window using Ctrl N or File->New Window (in IE), the new window comes up with the same page as the current page, with the same session info. Then if the user navigates to a different client in the 2nd window, the ClientID in session refers to the new client. If they go back to the original browser window and save, the original client gets saved using the 2nd ClientID, and all hell breaks loose, because now the data from the two jobs are intertwined.
I have enabled trace and verified that the new browser window uses the same SessionID as the original. If an entirely new instance of IE is opened, it has a different SessionID, so is not a problem. I have not yet investigated other browsers, such as Chrome or Firefox.
Is there any way to determine if a browser instance is opened for a web app which is already open in
