Handler Mappings IIS 7.5 with 4.0

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

I have a Custom Handler which was developed for 3.0. All I had to do for the corresponding UI to use this handler was to put it in the GAC and associate the handler mappings in IIS6 and that did the trick. Now I have migrated to 4.0 and IIS7.5. This Handler which was initially developed for 3.0 was converted to 4.0 and i put the same in a server which runs 4.0 framework. The problem is: GAC is in two parts on machines with 4.0! C:\Windows\Asembly for 3.5 and below; C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Assembly for 4.0. When i use GACUtil and add my handler's dll to GAC it goes and sits in the new GAC and correspondingly my IIS7.5 is not detecting the handler to associate the mapping to load this handler.

What am i missing?

Any help is really appreciated.

Creating Event Handler in Code behind

Hi, so I have a control that is created in the code behind and generates fine but I can't figure out how to create an event handler for it.  I've found plenty of examples for it in C sharp, but none of them seem to apply to VB.  What I want to do is essentially this:

myDropDownList.SelectedIndexChanged = "Event to do here"

but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

want to launch modal Popup from created User Event handler

I have a create user wizard on my page and in the event handler (Created User) I get extra information from the user

via textboxes within the aspx etc.

I then do a response.redirect to another page.

What I want to happen is this

When the CreatedUser Event is fired, I  want a Modal Popup to show up with a message Processing your registration.

once the registration code is processed it will close and the users get redirected.

On my ASPX I have the Modal PopUp and a Panel.

In the code behind in the handler I put ModalPop.show()

but this does not work.

thanks for any suggestions

Apparently missing something in my understanding of session handler...

 It was doing exactly what I expected until I added more than 1 property to it.   It seems if I set the value of a property this, in turn, sets every property in the handler to the same value.  It's blatantly obvious I didn't have the understanding I thought I did on this.  :-)

Could someone point out what I'm missing?  I figured it had something to do with the "shared" but if it's not shared then I would have to declare an instance on my page which would kinda ruin the state of my variables (otherwise, I'd just put them all in my class), right??

Private Shared _strStudentName As String
Private Shared _strSchoolID As String

    Public Shared Property StudentName() As String

            If (HttpContext.Current.Session(SessionHandler._strStudentName) Is Nothing) Then
                Return String.Empty
                Return HttpContext.Current.Session(SessionHandler._strStudentName).ToString()
            End If

        End Get

        Set(ByVal value As String)
            HttpContext.Current.Session(SessionHandler._strStudentName) = value
        End Set

    End Property

Search Server Gatherer - Custom hierarchical protocol handler ISearchProtocol for MOSS 2010

Search server gatherer calls CloseAccessor() and shutdown() on ISearchProtocol after GetChunk() even if the FILTER_E_END_OF_CHUNKS is not returned. After calling shutdown() it stops calling the createaccessor() with new URL. I want to create a hierarchical indexing but I am not gatherer is not suporting this. The same piece of code is working fine in MOSS 2007, I am facing this issue in MOSS 2010 only. Is there anything changed in MOSS 2010 which is creating this issue?

Deleting items from the index (custom protocol handler)

I created a custom protocol handler. I successfully emit entries into the index. I just can't seem to delete them during an incremental crawl.

I tried:

1. no emitting child item during the enumeration of child entries in a folder
2. returning PRTH_E_OBJ_NOT_FOUND from CreateAccessorEx

doing either 1, 2, or both did nothing. The entries are still there.

what i need to do to delete these entries from the index during an incremental crawl?

InfoPath Workflow Task Form "Loading" event handler only being called after App Pool recycled.

I have a Workflow that is using an InfoPath task form.  In the "FormEvents_Loading" method event handler I have some code that needs to run each time the form is opened.   I recycle the App Pool and open the form the code runs perfectly, but if I close and try to re-open the form the code is not run at all.  I can then recycle the App Pool again and on the next load the code executes just fine.   The code that is supposed to be run is a very simple statement to set a field value, so I don't think it is interfering.

Does anyone know what this might be?

Event Handler Credentials

I made EH that checks out document when OOB Approval WF is finished successfully.

I want doc to be checked out by WF Initiator, but by default it is made by System Account.

How can i change Event Handler Account ?

Specific Error Handler for Area Controllers

I have an area named CMS on my MVC3 Preview 1 application.

Is it possible to have an error view inside the CMS area to display only errors that occurred on the controllers under the CMS area?

Basically I want the errors inside the area to be handled by a different controller than the errors on the "application root".

Pre_Init event handler problem

Hi all my friends

   I have to masterpages for my home page.

1. The first is for the annonymous users which has the login controls. its name is General_Anonymous.master.

2. The second one is for the logged in users which has a logout button and it hasn't the login controls in it. its name is General_LoggedIn.master.

in my default.aspx page I wrote the following code

protected void Page_PreInit(object sender, EventArgs e)
            if (Session["SupId"] == null && Session["CustomerId"] == null)
                this.MasterPageFile = "~/Masters/General_Anonymous.master";
                this.MasterPageFile = "~/Masters/General_LoggedIn.master";

Sharing a file handler between managed and unmanaged code?

This is related to Interops, and sharing a file handler between a WPF UI and a native C++ DLL. I'm working on an application using MVVM as a guide. I want to use WPF for the UI, however it is a complex scientific application, which requires performance, and I am using C++ along with some GPU based code for all the modeling/processing. This is a Windows based app, no real network comm involved. I come across a challenge in terms of storing data. The data is multi-dimensional, and can be projected in many ways, while each projection can be processed/filtered in many ways too. I end up with a tree of data, with the raw data at the root and many branches. XML seems like an ideal way to store the information about this dataset, but as far as the raw data, it is not so convenient. I read about base64 encoding and the various binary-XML techniques, but see a major issue: the size of the converted data (150% of the raw) which in my case is huge (raw data is easily 200MBs+, and the multitude of projections can make it several 100's of MBs easily). There is the option of saving several files, but then it may become a nightmare for a user to 'transfer' files properly, so a one-file system seems best. I basically need to have the XML-like structure accessible to the UI, while the raw data needs to be accessed by the unmanaged code. So I was thinking I could concat

Two rows passed to error handler instead of one....

Scenario: Flat File conneciton manager for import, and another for error exporting OLEDB destination for successful data. Transforms connecting the flat file source to the OLEDB destination on success, and to a script component, and eventually a flat file destination in the event of an error. Goal: Very basic - take rows from a flight file, pipe delimited (CR/LF for rows) source, and map it into a table, exporting records that would error out into an error file. Symptom: Given a 3 row file (just for test), where the first record is missing a column, we wind up with 2 records (the record that we know has the error, plus the following record) in the error file, and only the 3rd record in the success file. One one record is reported as going to each file (so, the error transform shows a single record, even though two wind up in that file). The couple of lines of code that move things over are as follows... _erroredRow = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString(Row.FlatFileSourceErrorOutputColumn.GetBlobData(0, (int)Row.FlatFileSourceErrorOutputColumn.Length)); Output0Buffer.AddRow(); Output0Buffer.Record = _erroredRow; What I suspect is happening here is that the delimiter at the end of the first (error) record is being missed, and thus what appears as two rows (and they do each have the appropriate CR/LF) is being treated as one. Any hints as to why this is happening a

Reporting Services and Sharepoint Integration - Sharepoint Alternate Access Mappings (Zones)

I get the following error when I try to navigate to a report/model/data source, stored in a Sharepoint Document Library using a Sharepoint URL based on an Extranet or Intranet zone - but it works OK using the url for the Default zone: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The specified path refers to a SharePoint zone that is not supported. The default zone path must be used. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.SecurityZoneNotSupportedException: The specified path refers to a SharePoint zone that is not supported. The default zone path must be used. Is this a limitation of the SQLRS-WSS3 integration or is there a workaround? Many thanks to anyone who can help!
