Is it possible to create WSP files within Designer 2010?

I'm just getting to grips with Designer 2010 and was wondering if I edited a CSS, Pagelayout or Masterpage (for example), how easy it would be to package them up into a WSP file? Would it be easy to export the changes within Designer into VS2010? Can you import the changes into VS2010? Or would I have to do it the hard way and copy each file and drop them into a WSP project in VS2010 and then build and deploy? Just getting my head around which would be more automated - if at all. Cheers.   Keith.

We are an ISV and would like to know how to add a feature to our solution that uses the existing help functionality to display help based on the user type and context of that user type in the system.  I have been searching to no avail, if there is a How-To article somewhere I'd love a link! Report Builder 3.0 issue - can view existing rdl files but cannot create new reports

I have Report Builder 3.0 deployed on my local machine pointing to a remote SQL Server 2008 R2 instance outside of my local domain.  Within this local Report Builder 3.0 instance I am able to open up previously created rdl files from the remote SQL Server 2008 R2 instance that I am connecting to.  However, if I try to create a new report on my local instance of Report Builder 3.0 and attempt to use the same data source as was used to create these existing rdl files, I receive the error: "Unable to connect to data source. The user credentials provided in the connection string do not have permission to connect to Reporting Services."  So why can I open existing rdl files from this remote SQL Server 2008 R2 instance, but not create new ones even though I'm using the same data source as the existing rdl files?  Thanks, Mark

I Can Not Burn Files To DVD+R, I Can Not Create a Data DVD Anymore. Why?

I have NEVER had this problem before.

1. I Re-Installed Vista.

2. I Installed "ALL MY DRIVERS".

3. Deep Burner Will Not Burn Data to a DVD+R. "Hardware Error 68,217"

4. Alcohol 120% No longer can Burn ISO Images to DVD+R, or DVD-R.

5. Deep Burner WILL NOT, Burn an ISO Image to DVD.

Deep Burner was working last night, I burned 2 ISO Images to DVD+R, because Alhohol 120% would not do it anymore.

I found out that Windows Defender did a Scan on my computer. @ 1+ am in the morning, this morning. When I awoke, I Disabled Defender, and Re-Installed Software needed. Considering Re-Installing Vista , again.

I NEVER have virus protection on my PC !!!!!!

I am very good with computers, and I'm pretty sure that Windows Defender is what ruined my files and system.

I have NEVER had this problem before, I will sue if my problem is solved, either by myself, or by someone from MSDN, or from Microsoft. I am not satisfied with the service from Microsoft.

I have seen the same problem with another person with an Acer ask the same question. But it's not because of crappy SP2, or whatever, it's because of Windows, and Microsoft Service.

I hold Microsoft 100% Accountable.

Create a stored procedure that will take different files like .csv,.txt and create a table in my dat

Hi All,

I am new in SQL Server.Currently I am using SQL Server 2008.

I have to create a stored procedure that will take different files like .csv,.txt and create a table in my database.

At a single time i am using only one file like .csv,.txt.

Here I am generating a XML file which contains script to create table and how to map data into table.

Here we are using XML as a middle man which gives us idea about file structure and how to map data into table.

Can any one guide me how can i do this thing?

Thanks & Regards

When dynamically creating an excel file, can SSIS create xlsx files successfully? I can only get SSI

Problem: An Excel file (XLSX) dynamically created by a SQL Task cannot be opened via Excel. The task succeeds, but when you try to open the workbook in Excel you get the fillowing error message: Excel cannot open the file 'myfile.xlsx" because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.

1. If the Excel file (xlsx) is created manually in Excel, then the SQL Task has no problem creating table (new worksheets) in the xlsx (so the "CREATE TABLE" statement works fine)
2. If I adjust the connection and task to work with Excel 97-2003 (xls) format then the approach works perfectly
3. The execution results show success of the SQL Task, but there are two warning messages. These same warnings appear when the SQL Task creates a new table (worksheet) successfully in a workbook (xlsx) which was created manually in Excel (and is not corrupt). Messages as follows:
Warning: Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.

What is necessary to create SDF-Files on desktop legally?

I want to write a PC application that prepares a SQL Server Mobile Files (.SDF) and sends it to a PocketPC.

I get this error message:
"SQL Mobile usage is restricted on this platform. To use SQL Mobile, you
must install SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005, or the Tablet PC SKU"

If I install "SQL Server 2005 Express" the error message disappears and everything works fine.

Is it allowed to create SDF-Files if "SQL Server 2005 Express" is installed or is it necessary that my customers buy "SQL Server 2005"?

How can I create multiple files all referencing the same aspx page?

Basically I need multiple code-behind files each containing different functions for a page. Different classes do not do this because they are not connected to the page so their methods require parameters I want direct control of the page without the need for parameters.

I can only seem to crete one code-behind file and I need many. I've tried putting the aspx page in the App_Code folder but this causes an error.

Is there a way to do this?. Any help would be appreciated.

Create multiple XML files from a single query

I'm using this code for creating and xml file out of a SQL2005 table:

select (select
    from ProductsInfo_ZAP p
    for xml path('PRODUCT'),TYPE, ROOT('PRODUCTS')
) for xml path(''), ROOT('STORE')

Is there a way for me to create multiple xml files, one for every row, going by the primary key column, or do I have to create a separate query for each row?

I would also wondering what is the syntax for transforming this query into a stored procedure

How to create and copy files into a subdirectory at run time.

Good Day,

I have a folder on my server say:

in that folder there is 4 folders

in the pics folder is jpg's that are the buttons for a web page, the web page is in the MasterArt folder and is named default.aspx

upon a user creating an account, i have my program create a folder under a subfolder named ARTIST

I got that part but now what I need to learn how to do is to have at run time, when a new user creates an account, that my program creates a subdirectory under the ARTIST subdirectory and then I copy the default.aspx from the MasterArt folder into their folder, then copy the folders and contents of the 4 subfolders (pics, videos, music, other) so that they now have the direcotries and its contents.

Example: I create a user account and my artist name is Kevin

a subdirectory is created called Kevin, the folder Kevin should now have the default.aspx page, and 4 sub folders, pics, videos, music, and other.

How do I do this? I thanks in advance for any help!

create one-time backup files

(using SQL 2008)

Here is my situation.  I have administrative rights to a particular database, but not the entire server.  The server admin makes a new backup every night for all the databases.

At certain points in time, I would also like to save a backup file of my database, but of course don't want to alter the existing backup schedule.  Is this possible?
