Windows 7 claiming .NET 3.5 not installed

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Dear All

I have tried to install the Open XML SDK 2.0 on my development computer at work. When I try to do that, ithe instalation routine tells me that it cannot continue because .NET 3.5 is not installed. I have tried to uninstall the framework in the add remove windows features, and reinstall it, but still I get the mentioend error message.

I can create and compile a .NET 3.5 project in Visual Studio 2010. I have a laptop for work with the same issue. When I try to install the SDK on my own private laptop, which is a x64 Windows 7 like my work PC's I can install it with no issues.

My own private laptop is not part of a domain, but my work computers are. Is there any domain policies that might interfere with .NET 3.5 on Windows 7?

Kind regards

Tom Madsen

Do SharePoint 2007 and VS2010 have to be installed to the same Windows Server machine?

For WSS 3.0 development using VS 2005, I learned that we need to install VSeWSS to the Windows Server where the WSS 3.0 was installed.  For MOSS 2007 development using VS 2010, do we need to have VS 2010  nstalled to the same Windows Server?  Thanks, Jeffrey

I installed .net FrameWork 4.0 (for Vista/Windows 7) and my Desktop Font is BOLD! (sometimes)

So at first, I installed the below: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9cfb2d51-5ff4-4491-b0e5-b386f32c0992&displaylang=en Which is .net framework 4 (web installer), then I believe I tried the standalone. But then after I did the Redistributable 2.0 installer for Windows XP SP2, but I have SP3, does that just mean its included already? (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en)   My friend told me I needed this before I install Office 2010... I dont know!! So after I installed these different .net frameworks and then office. I have Mozilla crashing me, I disabled the framework assistant plug-in and still happens. Then, my FONT for desktop and start menu icons turns (larger/bold) but not within folders, only what shows without clicking into anything.... so.. 1.System Restore is not an option, that restore point is overwritten now... 2. This is not an appearance tab/settings issue with a larger DPI set or anything like that... Because, sometimes I click on my computer to restart and the font is all fine and will continue to be, othertimes, some program or something causes this to happen, I restart the PC and then its fine again... Can anyone tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it, easily.. if possible :) I have searched all over and while I've noticed people with simila

Access Denied creating a web application in SP Foundation 2010 installed on windows 7 with local acc

Hello,

I've installed SharePoint foundation over windows 7 with a local account using this guide: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blogs/fromthefield/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=112

When I try to create a new web application the ribbon button is disabled. Using the link located in /_admin/createsite.aspx I get an "Access Denied" error message.

I access the SP Administration with the same user used during installation. This user is local admin and member of SQL server roles "securityadmin" and "dbcreator".

Any idea about this error?

Thanks in advance

Windows Service not showing up when installed with Setup project

I have just installed a windows service, using a setup project but i can't find my service to start it. I did set the primary output, and i also did add custom actions. However, I still do not see my service listed...if i try to reinstall, it gives me the options to either repair or uninstall...which tell me that it is on the machine. Does anyone have an idea on how I can rectify this?

Please help....

SSC 3.5 SP2 Private Deployment issue on Windows Mobile with SSC 3.5 (3.5.5386) installed

I want to deploy applications that use Private Deployment for SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 for Windows Mobile.
I made test sample according to SQL Server Compact 3.5 Service Pack 2 Books Online instructions.

I tested with WM 6.5 device and emulator.

I deploy to application folder on WM the following files:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\Devices\System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\Devices\wce500\armv4i\sqlceme35.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\Devices\wce500\armv4i\sqlceqp35.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\Devices\wce500\armv4i\sqlcese35.dll

The code is simple:
using (SqlCeConnection sqlCeConnection = new SqlCeConnection())
{
   button1.Text = sqlCeConnection.ServerVersion;
}

When I run my test on clean WM 6.5(with SSCE 3.1 in ROM), it's ok. Server version is 3.5.8080.0.

When I run my test on WM 6.5 with SSC 3.5 SP1 installed, test fails with the error:
"
The application is trying to load native components of version 5386 that are incompatible with ADO.NET provider of version 8080.
Incompatible versions can lead to application instability and hence loading of SQL Server Compact has been aborted.

manually applied KB960082 for MS SQL 2000, but Windows update still includes it to be installed

Applied KB960082 using SQLWMSDE-KB960082-x86-ENU.exe; the install log shows successful configuration.  However, Windows Update still shows KB960082 among the fix still to be installed.

This is an SBS 2003 systems environment.

installing SQL Server 2005 on Windows 7 with Visual Studio 2010 already installed

Last year I had Vista on machine with Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2005 running fine. Last week I decided to wipe the hard disk, install Windows 7 and make the move to Visual Studio 2010. I still need SQL Server 2005 to be able to test code for clients using this.

Anyway, Visual Studio 2010 Professional went on OK. This installed SQL Server 2008 Epxress.

I then try to install SQL Server 2005. I know that there is a compatibility problem, so following advice from other sources, I want to install it without running the server, then install SQL Server 2005 SP3. Then I should be up and running.

The problem is that even though I make sure the 'Start SQL Server' check box is UNchecked, part way through the installation it throws up an error saying it can't start the server and this part of the installation is unrolled.

I've tried running 'setup.exe SKUUPGRAGE=1' which gets rid of the only warning I was getting up to this point, but the setup seems to insist on running the server even though I tell it not to. So I don't get a chance to run SP3 on it.

I wonder if the problem is that SQL Server 2008 Epxress is already installed but can't see an easy way of uninstalling it. It doesn't appear as an uninstall option using the Visual Studio 2010 disk and if I look at uninstall programs I get the f

import/export wizard crashes on SQL Express 2008 R2 installed on Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have been getting "Unexpected Unrecoverable Error; Abort, Retry, Ignore" when using the SQL Import/Export Wizard in the following scenarios (these are the only two ways I have tried using the Wizard):

1) Source Advantage OLE DB Provider, destination SQL Server, copy tables

2) Source Microsoft Excel, destination SQL Server, copy tables, show report if there were any failures

I have run the SQL Setup Repair and still get the same behavior.  Are there known issues with SQL Express 2008 R2 on Windows 7 for Import/Export?

Thanks, David

Windows Service Applications Tutorials

You can easily create services by creating an application that is installed as a service. For example, suppose you want to monitor performance counter data and react to threshold values. You could write a Windows Service application that listens to the performance counter data, deploy the application, and begin collecting and analyzing data.

Serving Silverlight Apps from Windows Mobile

Even if mobile dev is not my every day work, thanks to the .Net Compact Framework, it's still .Net programming.

Here is the scenario:

You come back home, you have a windows mobile phone wifi capable and you want to quickly get access to your phone pictures from your home network.
You just activate the Wifi, run my app and then browse to the provided link from any computer on the network.
