System.AddIn, simultaneous multitouch interaction in multiple addins

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

Hello, I have built an application that is able to load several addins, each having their own process, each sending their own UI onto the application's UI. I now would like to enable simultaneous multitouch interaction in any of these AddIns' UIs. The problem is: when there is multitouch interaction ongoing in one of the addins' UI, the others do not seem to receive any event, even though I try to touch controls in them. My question is: is this even possible in the current form of the framework? Or does the input device (i.e. my touch screen) get somehow "captured" by the currently manipulated UI's process, thus preventing the others from getting any input at all? Antoine

Clr-AddIns saving addin settings

Hi, I am loading a UIElement from an addin which is used as the AddIns settings interface: private void Settings_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { SettingsWindow sw = new SettingsWindow(); FrameworkElement settingsUI = null; this.Dispatcher.Invoke((Action)delegate() { settingsUI = SelectedAddIn.PopulateSettingsIU(); }); sw.rootGrid.Children.Clear(); if (settingsUI != null) sw.rootGrid.Children.Add(settingsUI); sw.ShowDialog(); } This loads a UIElement that consists of the following: <UserControl x:Class="PakBusIPAddin.PakBusIPSettingsDialog" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:settings="clr-namespace:TestAddin.Properties" Height="400" Width="400" Unloaded="UserControl_Unloaded"> <StackPanel> <Label Content="This is a test dialog for the PakBus IP Settings"/> <GroupBox Header="NL100 Settings"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height=&

Sending a Mail Message to Multiple Addresses Using System.Net.Mail

 VWD 2008 Express.  Visual Basic. I use the following routine (XXXXX have replaced sensitive data) to try to send an email message to mutiple email addresses.  It only sends to the first email address in the comma-delimited list.  How can I send the message to multiple email addresses?  Thanks for the help. System.AddIn AddInProcess and WPF

Hi,
  I figured that I could use the .NET AddIn model to start AddIns in their own process (with FullTrust). However when the AddIn returns an UI, I get the following exception in my code,

"The calling thread must be STA, because many UI components require this."

in the constructor for the AddIn

Here are the relevant parts of the code

In the addIn Host application

MyAddin addin = addinToken.Activate<MyAddin>(sharedProcess, AddInSecurityLevel.FullTrust);

In the addIn

[System.AddIn.AddIn("TheClock")]

public class Clock : Myddin

{

private ClockControl myUi;

private UIDataContext myDataCont

System.Addin.Pipeline.FrameworkElementAdapters

I have a Windows 7 x64 machine and I'm trying to use System.Addin.Pipline.FrameworkElementAdapters, yet it doesn't show up at all. Yet when I download the wpf calculator sample from here. http://clraddins.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Samples&referringTitle=Home

It shows up in the project. Has FrameworkElementAdapters been removed?

Multiple users system design question.

Hello,

I am designing a web application that will allow users to accept jobs.  Once accepted, the job is locked until completed or released my an admin.

I have researched this pretty heavily, everything seems to suggest this.  While I think this might be part of the solution, I am still wondering how to reflect the change on the screen.

The solution we have come up with is to do polling with ajax, but the case we come back to is even if we check ever second...there can be ( and this is very likely ) that two or more users will click the same job at the same time.

Maybe this is as easy as this:

if( job.isLocked() ) {

    // Notify the user, and refresh grid.
    WarningLabel.Text = "Job is taken!!!!";

}

Our users use IE7 if this matters.  If anybody can give me a confirmation if this is the 'right' way to go about this, or propose other options I would greatly appreicate it.

System.Net.Mail - adding multiple recipients from a table

Now I would like to be able to email all emplyees. The emplyees email address is stored in a MS SQL table. Is it possible to make a BCC email to all employees in that table?

Do I need to keep multiple versions of the .NET Framework installed in my system?

I realize that this may sound like a bit of a dumb question, but here goes anyway...

 Several months ago, I downloaded and installed the Visual Basic trial thinking that that was the program that I needed.  As it turns out I have decided farm this part of my project out to a professional, rather than spending countless hours frustrated with attempting to do it myself.  At the time that I installed Visual Basic I was asked to .NET Framework 2.0  I have since installed two updates, version 3.0 & 3.5.  These programs are quite memory intensive and take up a great deal of hard drive space!  I am currently running WinXP on my Intel-based MacBookPro under Bootcamp.  Unfortunately, the way that the original Bootcamp beta version partitioned my hard drive, it only allows for 32 GB of my hard disk to be allocated to running WinXP This includes any & all applications, documents, etc... that you would by definition have on your computer!  As it stands currently, the .NET Framework applications are occupying 0.5 gigabytes of my hard drive.

Do I need to keep version 2.0 as well as versions 3.0 and 3.5?  Also, since I had no longer using Visual Basic, do I even need to keep the .NET framework on my system at all?

Thank you so much for your help!!!

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

System Development Life Cycle

The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a conceptual model used in project management that describes the stages involved in an information system development project from an initial feasibility study through maintenance of the completed application. Various SDLC methodologies have been developed to guide the processes involved including the waterfall model (the original SDLC method), rapid application development (RAD), joint application development (JAD), the fountain model and the spiral model. Mostly, several models are combined into some sort of hybrid methodology

Multiple Column Dropdownlist for the ASP.NET DataGrid

Based on my previous control "Multiple Column DropDownList for ASP.NET", I received many emails asking for the same control to be used in the DataGrid for web applications. Here we go.. This control can be used as the regular MS DropDownList in the DataGrid and also as a regular dropdownlist. It has all the properties, like DataTextField, DataValueField, DataSource, SelectedIndex etc. The download file contains the samples both in VB.NET and C#. In this sample, I have used the Northwind database of SQL Server.
