How to align text to top position on Ribbon buttons?

Hello SharePoint Experts, I have a custom masterpage which is derived from v4.master and it uses the default SP Foundation 2010 Ribbon. As you all know, the default Ribbon buttons such as New Document,Upload Document,Alert Me,etc, have text at the bottom below the icons. Ribbon buttons such as CheckOut,CheckIn,etc have their text aligned to the right of the icons. My requirement is to have all the text on Ribbon groups and buttons aligned to the top such that the image is below the text.(By default it is the other way round). I tried manipulating the CMDUI.XML file located at 14\TEMPLATE\GLOBAL but no use. I also tried overriding the Ribbon CSS(from COREV4.CSS) but it was of no use as well. Does anyone have inputs on how to get this done? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.Regards, Gautam Kaikini, MCTS WSS 3.0 Application Development.

Tab Headers of Microsoft WPF Ribbon not rendered (bug?)

Hello eveybody, the tab headers of my ribbon control are not rendered. Initially I do not want the ribbon to be visible until the initialization process is over. So I set the visibility of the ribbon to "Hidden" (same result with setting it to "Collapsed"). If the initialization process is over the visibility is set to "Visible". The Ribbon is then drawn without the tabs or with empty tab headers. To reproduce these are the steps: 1.     In Visual Studio 2010 select File=>New=>Project=>"WPF Ribbon Application" 2.     Open "MainWindow.xaml" in the designer 3.     Set the Visibility of the ribbon to "Hidden" 4.     Drag a button on the main window and add a handler for the "Click" event 5.     In the Click event of the button set the visibility of the ribbon to "Visible" as follows 6.     private void button5_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) {      Ribbon.Visibility = System.Windows.Visibility.Visible; } 7.     Start the application. The ribbon is invisible as expected. 8.     Click on the Button and the ribbon is visible but the header of the ribbon tab is not

Page Layout and Text Layout Buttons Disabled on Ribbon

I am trying to create a publish site in Sharepoint 2010, and I am using the Ribbon control.  Currently, I am having trouble adding and changing content on my site, due to both the Page Layout and Text Layout buttons being disabled.  I have been trying to figure out what security or feature needs to be active to get these enabled again.  Any help would be appreciated.

Convert Text to Numeric in reports generated by Microsoft SQL Server 2000

Our programming team is producing Excel reports using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and cannot seem to find a way to produce numeric data as numeric.  It is being produced in the spread sheet as text (with the green triangle in the corner of the cell).  If the user viewing the report has an older version of Excel they cannot even convert it to numeric manually.

Is there a way to produce numeric data as numeric in the Excel report?

Microsoft Matrix Framework DataGrid - Update Command - Convert empty strings to NULL

we have a AutoGenerateColumns-enabled WmxDataGrid in which we are able to update table rows in a DataBase connected with a SqlDataSource.

Each time we clear a field an empty string is written to the database where we want to write DBNull values.

At the moment we generate the update string via UPDATE... SET.. and the SQL Server function NULLIF(value, '').

Works proper but when I want to add the values to e.NewValues in BeginUpdate event I'm not able to read the values from the auto generated text boxes.

How do I do that? Is there an easier way to automatically convert empty strings to NULL values?

Is a 64-Bit Microsoft text driver available

from OpenRowset('MSDASQL', 'Driver={Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)};

Bugs found in Microsoft Ribbon for WPF

Where can I report bugs for the Microsoft Ribbon for WPF?

The bugs I currently want to report are...

1) Adding a submenu to a RibbonApplicationMenuItem or RibbonApplicationSplitMenuItem shows large images, but uses the small image 16x16 to render a 32x32 image, which makes the image look very ugly.

2) It does not seem to be possible to use a large image, 32x32, in a RibbonMenuItem, control template is locked to 16x16.

3) An InRibbonGalleryControl would be really nice!

Is there a workaround for these bugs?

When will an update of the Microsoft Ribbon for WPF be available?

Microsoft Ribbon for WPF

I downloaded the new Microsoft Ribbon for WPF and installed it in VS2010. The only examples of  the ribbon control that I have is the Checkbook sample that descibed the older release of the ribbon. However, the code for that example uses a lot of COde Behind that is probably not desirable in WPF. Where can I get some examples of how the code should be structured in WPF. I think that the new ribbon is supposed to be optimised for the MVVM framework, but I am ignorant of how that works. So, is there a reference addressing how to use MVVM with the Ribbon?

Microsoft Ribbon for WPF - How to remove white gloss from Tab Panel

Using the Ribbon, I can set the background property to Black. This doesn't set the entire background to black, but only appears to set part of a gradient to black, leaving the top half of the tab's panel with a gradient fade to white. (or maybe it's a clear to white gradient overlaying the black background).

I'd provide an image but I can't find any tools allowing me to upload one. The XAML to reproduce is quite simple however, just start a new project with a the Ribbon for WPF (downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2bfc3187-74aa-4154-a670-76ef8bc2a0b4) and set the Ribbon's background to black:

Microsoft Ribbon for WPF - problem under Windows XP

Hello everyone!

I'm having a problem with WPF Ribbon Application under Windows XP. Applications window borders shows up weirdly and ugly. I think screenshot will describe my problem best. This is a screenshot from sample project supplied with Microsoft Ribbon for WPF installation package:

I'm developing with Visual Studio 2010 and C#-language. .NET framework 4.0 installed. The problem doesn't happen with normal WPF Application.

My client wants ribbon-like user interface and they are still using Windows XP. I would greatly appreciate any help as I'm running out of my own ideas.

SP2010: Ribbon: How to use Text Box?

Hi there, we're taking advantage of the Issues Tracking lists on a number of project sites using SP2010. I've created a VS2010 solution that adds a new group with a Label and TextBox control and that works great.  Problem is, when my JavaScript CommandUIHandler runs, I have no idea how to access what the user actually typed in to build the URL to the issue ID, and couldn't find documentation on it.

Any ideas?

Error: Office 2003 SP3 "Command text was not set for the command object"

I have a customer who is using Office 2003 pivot tables against AS2000 cubes. Last week they upgraded to SP3 of Office and now we are getting "Command text was not set for the command object" when trying to refresh / manipulate the pivot tables. Applies to existing pivot tables as well as new ones we create. I found a few references to interesting experiences with SP3, but none that mention this error. We know the cubes are OK because we can use pivot tables against them from another (server) machine that escaped the upgrade. Currently trying to prove or disprove that it was the upgrade specifically that caused the problem.

Has anyone else bumped into something like this? Found a way around it?

Thanks in advance

Command text Error

Hi All,

I am  getting this error. Please help

Message : Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown

Inner Exception : ExecuteReader: CommandText property has not been initialized

Cannot execute a program. The command being executed was "c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\cs

The webserive is throwing the following exception every time unless I reset iis. I don't think it is machine dependent as it is happening on other machines. There is some fix for asian version and I don't think I have asian version (conime). but I tried it anyway but doesn't work. The error clears by restarting IIS on development but that is not a solution for webserver. Does anybody know how to resolve this issue? It's not memory issue as I have plenty of free memory.
