Dataset with multiple relationships and combo boxes

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

I have 3 tables:

Table 1
tableOneID (PK)

Table 2
tableTwoID (PK)
tableOneID (FK)

Table 3
tableThreeID (PK)
tableTwoID (FK)

I want to be able to display the information in 3 combo boxes, filtered by the selection the 'upper' combo boxes. I have a dataset containing 3 datatables and have created relationships between the tables. It all works great for the first two combo boxes (cboTable_2's data is filtered correctly by selection in cboTable_1) but not for the next combo box - I want cboTable_3's data to be populated based on the selection in cboTable_2.

Code Snippet

OleDbDataAdapter da = new OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Table_1", conn);

da.Fill(ds, "T

Binding multiple combo boxes to the same list

If I bind multiple combo boxes to a list of combo box items, selecting an item in one box clears the list in the other. When I use a list that contains something other than combo box items the binding works as expected. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Here is an example of the behavior using VS 2010 premium and .Net 4.0

Adjacent combo boxes take space according to their data on google chrome

I have a page where I want to keep several combo boxes adjacent to each other. I have put them in divs that are floated left. This works fine in IE, Firefox. But when I render the same page on Chrome I observe the uneven gap between combo boxes. Upon analysis I found out that each combo box is occupying space based on the data inside it.This happens because on Safari and Chrome, the option list control is placed differently as compared to that on IE and Firefox. Please see the following code from ComboBox.pre.js (in AjaxControlToolkit source/Server/) // force inline display on Safari by moving the list to the bottom of the form. if (Sys.Browser.agent === Sys.Browser.Safari || Sys.Browser.agent === Sys.Browser.WebKit) { this.get_element().removeChild(optionListControl); var parent = this.get_element().parentNode; while (typeof (parent) != typeof (document.forms[0])) { parent = parent.parentNode } var safariListContainer = document.createElement('div'); safariListContainer.className = this.get_element().className; safariListContainer.appendChild(optionListControl); parent.appendChild(safariListContainer); } This is how it looks:I have tried doing the following but none of them helped:Changed the RenderMode of combo box to 'block' fro

Multiple Tables on One Page, One Dataset

In SSRS 2005, is there a way to have 2 tables on a page, each displaying a row of data from the same dataset?

In other words:

Page 1, Table 1 data = row 1

Page 1, Table 2 data = row 2

---- new page ----

Page 2, Table 1 data = row 3

Page 2, Table 2 data = row 4

and so on?

Multiple Dataset in one table

Hi All,

I have one table with three column say

where A is Metrics column ,B having sum (Metrics) of one day ,C having sum(metrics) of 2 days as below

Metrics                          1 day                                             2 day

A                      12 (Value of Column B)           67 (Value of Column C)

B and C will come from different dataset, kindly sugest how to do this,i have to retreive data on the basis of Metrics.

SSAS 2008 Dimension: Multiple FK Relationships to the same Dimension

I have kind of a fundamental design question: In my DWH are 2 tables TICKET and EMPLOYEE. EMPLOYEE is referenced by TICKET 2 times: TICKET_OWNER_ID and TICKET_ASSIGNED_TO_ID.

I have created a Ticket and a Employee dimesion in my SSAS Project. The Ticket Dimension should no have two atrributes: Owner and Assigned To. I can create the attributes by dragging the EMPLOYEE.NAME column from the DSV window into the attributes list but there is now to specify which relation will be used.

And of course I get pretty intresting results when I process the dimension.

I could create a named query in the DSV selecting * from EMPLOYEE and create a second Employee dimension but is that the only way I can get this to work ?

Thanks, ITD

Are combo boxes fixed yet?

If you open and scroll the list on a drop down combo list box using the scroll bar and a mouse the mouse, the messages are pushed to the background window and cause it to scroll as well. Is this on purpose? This was never true in windows..

Just wondering if this was patched.

Facing problem in Passing Multiple values to a DataSet

Hi all,

I have a report parameter(@rptParameter), which allows only single value.

The Main Data Set query :

Select * From XXXX

Where Title like @rptParameter+'%'

This is how i'm handling till now.

but now i need to allow users to select multiple values at report param,

and need to generate report based on that.

I'm totally lost, i don't have any idea that hw can i use "like" and "in" at a time in my Data set.

Please help me out.

If you not clear with question, let me know i will give you some example.

Thanks in Advance.

Can I create multiple report tables from one Dataset?

I'm producing a report in Report Builder 3.0 that needs to show events grouped by time of day, and another table with the same data grouped by day of week. Both tables show the same results, just grouped differently. The query that generates the ungrouped data is expensive, so I don't want to run it twice.

I've created queries in Management Studio that get the ungrouped data into a global temp table, and then I can fetch both grouped data sets from there. Unfortunately I can't get this to work in Report Builder. I have one Dataset that runs the main query, saves it into global temp, and then returns the first result set. The second Dataset returns the results from global temp. This keeps failing, the second result set is blank.

Does Reporting services run the queries in the order they are in the report, or are they run concurrently? If they are run concurrently this would explain it. Is there anything I can do to change this so that the second query doesn't run until the first one has completed?

Is there a better way of achieving the results I'm after?

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.
