Document Set, shared columns, Word Documents and quick parts

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have a document set with shared columns docset1, sharedcol1, sharedcol2.  My document set is made up of another content type (subdoctype1) that does not have sharedcol1, and sharedcol2, but they are shared via the doc set.

How do I add sharedcol1 and sharedcol2 to quick parts in the word doc?

If I create a document in the set of subdoctype1 and go to insert->quick part->Document Property I do not see the shared columns.  If I save the document and re-open it I do see the shared columns.  How can I add the shared columns to a template with no values?  It seem like I need an actual instance of the doc set with my sub-document type to exist before I can use it.

Cannot open Word document from sharepoint Shared Documents folder

Hey Every body

I have a very strange problem. Our Company has a Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 solution running as our company Intranet solution.

We have a solution where outside users, can gain access to a workspace site on Sharepoint where diffrent people can work together on projects that involves both out side users and internal staff.
We have a folder called shares documents here we can upload documents that we want the other memebers off this workspace too see.
The problem is that internal staff can open up Word documents directly, but the external users are not able to open up directly these Word documents. Word just sayes that that is is unabel to open up the word document.
But when the users download the documents instead it works fine.

I have tries with both offcie 2003 and office 2007 and the problem is the same. But if i try to open up these documens via Open Office the problem due not exits, then is works fine. Why does Microsoft Word have these problems?

And is it just when the external users are opening up the documents directly from the sahred Documens folder that we have this problem.

The external users are connecting to our Citrix Netscaller security solution for authenticating purpoes first, after they have been validated through this solution, they ar

Converting Word Documents library to PDF document library in SharePoint Server 2007

My project requires me to create an event reciever such that when a word file is added to one library the same content pdf file should be added to other library also when a word file is updated, edited or checked in the respective pdf file in other document library should be replaced by a new pdf file with the edited word content . Can we do this in Sharepoint 2007 I have seen this can be done in Sharepoint 2010 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff181518.aspx

Clicking on "Shared Documents" gives link to download instead of opening document library

Hi, I hope someone can help! All of a sudden (I don't know if someone has changed something!), whenever anone clicks on a link to open the "shared documents" document library in a specific site within our sharepoint site, instead of opening the document library, it instead gives a download dialog for a zip "AllItems.aspx" as a zip file. Anyone got any iteas what could have gone wrong and how to correct the issue?   Many thanks for any help!

How do I pre-populate document quick parts based on site metadata?

Anyone have any thoughts on how I would populate data into document quick parts?

The answer seems pretty simple with content types and such, but the complication is that I want to pull in contact information from a list local to the site in which the library resides.  For example:

A project site is created.  The company's contact information is copied down to the site via the site creation process.  A Letter Standard content type is managed throughout the site, and pulls the contact information from the list and populates the appropriate pieces within the document automatically.

Anyone done something similar to this?

Word 07 Quick Parts--an equivalent in powerpoint?

I recently learned about creating templates in Word and using "Quick Parts" I find very useful as part of those templates, helping me to easily choose the appropriate text for each document.

I have a powerpoint slide show that needs to be similarly tailored depending on the audience. I'm wondering if there is anything equivalent to that which would let me just as easily modify a powerpoint template?

SharePoint 2010 Documents inside Document set is no inheriting shared fields (lookup fields)

I have a situation that is making me crazy !! I have a content type that inherits from Document set. I have set some fields (metadata) in the document set and configured the document set to share it with documents inside it.

All the fields are being shared (inherited) to the documents inside the document set except for the lookup fields

I have 2 lookup fields that looks for information from a SharePoint list.

I'm using SharePoint 2010.

Thanks ..

How to Connect SQL Reporting Services to a SharePoint Document Library (Shared Documents)

Hi experts,

I've read 1 article and already tested it, and it works for me to connect reporting services with SharePoint List

http://vspug.com/dwise/2007/11/28/connecting-sql-reporting-services-to-a-sharepoint-list-redux/

But my concern now with the same approach how can i connect to SharePoint Document Library (Shared Documents)

Scenario:

I've 1 shared document link, inside there we store all the pdf image that we scan. and each image created we define field/attribute at Edit Properties. Meaning we just not store the pdf image but also information input.

I've contact the owner of blog for long time but no response. Please advise Thanks in advanced.

Im using : SharePoint 2007, SQL 2005 & Visual Studio 2005

Passing Calculated Columns from Sharepoint into Word Document Library Template

Hi all...

Another noob question.  I have been able to figure out how to pass single line text, date, etc. data from a Sharepoint List into a Word Template, but I am still trying to figure out how to pass a calculated column.  Is there a workaround?

Thanks,
Max

Document Set Shared Columns won't update

I want a document set where each content type in this set will have a common set of properties.  I want it so when any property in a document is changed, or a property in the set changes that everything gets updated.  So a change in to any one column will change everything.

I tried setting this up, but it did not work.  If I edit a property on the doc set, it will cascade down to the children, but it won't work the other way around.

Using Quick Parts with document libary, template loses field association when moved

Using Quick Parts with document libary, losing association with columns
Hi, I hope someone can help.  Sorry for length
Office Sharepoint 2007 version 12.0.0.6421 with Office 2007

The Situation:
We have a workflow which is used to progress a set of Change Control procedures. This utalises a task list, where as each task is complete, the workflow writes the values gathered from the task forms into a word document.  We have a content type associated with a task list with a corresponding content type created on the document library list to hold the values that users enter.  We also use a word 2007 template which has quick parts added to it and its these quick parts that get populated with the user data as the workflow progresses.  So we can populate a customer change request form for users.  This is all deployed using a feature.

The problem:
In our test environment this works fine.  As the workflow progresses the document library columns get updated with the task list columns data, as expected, which in turn means the word document gets updated with the correct values.  All good!!
However, when we move the whole solution onto out live environment, (we do this using visual studio to package all code and depl

Embedded links inside of Word documents in SP document library

Does anyone know of a tool that can spin through a document library, looking for urls within Word documents in a SP document library, and change those urls?  We are migrating sites to another server farm, and this migration will change the top level url names (for instance was https://foo/document%20lib/bar.doc  to https://someothername/...).  Manually changing the embedded links in the Word documents is not really a viable option due to the number of documents they have.  These documents link to other documents within the same site.
