ASP.NET AJAX UpdateProgres control in sharepoint 2010 Application pages ?

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

How to show the Update Progress status on an custom application page in sharepoint 2010 site. Any suggestions are most welcome

Basically we are getting a bunch of list items in the code behind of the application page & processing them, which will take atleast 10 seconds or more, so we would like to show a Update progress Control/image till the process is done.

Can we use ASP.NET AJAX UpdateProgress control in sharepoint 2010 Application pages ?

(We also prefer this process asynchronously, but the user has to indicate the list items to be processed, so Update progress control sounds like a good idea )

How to develop Common Content or Application pages in Sharepoint 2010, with respect to the customiz

I have a top level site and subsites (which might be around 10). Where as the top level site represents a common landing page and each sub site represents a client site to which user will be directed upon login. This is a PUBLISHING web site. I need to design to start with common pages across all clients and if there is a need let the client to customize the common page accroding to their need. This is a PUBLISHING site so all these common pages should have Web parts zones with authoring capabilities. What is the best way of achieving this?

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 1 of 2

In this first part of the two part series, Steven covers the differences between Site and Application pages in SharePoint 2007, why each may be used in various circumstances, and prepares for the construction of a menu located application page. After a brief introduction he examines the concept of Site Pages and Application Pages separately in detail with supported screenshots.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 2 of 2

As the second article in a two part series, Steven examines the attributes and details of a SharePoint 2007 application page, including the construction and feature deployment of the same page based project. Since this is a WSS level objective, as opposed to MOSS, you will not need MOSS to work with the code included in this project. Windows Server 2003, WSS, and Visual Studio 2005 are all that is needed, with no additional add-ons. He provides a detailed analysis of each step involved in the creation and deployment of the project.

Application Vs. Content Pages in SharePoint

SharePoint has two types of ASPX pages. One type is the application page, also known as a _layout page. The other type of ASPX page is a content page, also known as a site page. Each of these page types is stored in a different location in SharePoint. When developers create custom ASPX pages, they must decide on the page type.

VWDE 2010 Won't Install Ajax Control Toolkit on XP Pro

To my displeasure I cannot find VWD2005 which at one time would generate a complete web.config for Ajax so I downloaded and installed VWDE 2010 to a clean install of XP Pro.

I've created a new tab on the toolbar for the controls but after I select the Ajax dll to add the controls to the toolbar it grinds away and then goes poof and closes down the task leaving VWD look as if I had never even created the tab in the toolbar.

Any advice here?

User Profile Application Failing in SharePoint 2010 (14.0.4514.1004)

I keep getting the following error "This User Profile Application's connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or User Profile Service may not have been started. Please contact your administrator.". As sugested by Travis at http://blogs.pointbridge.com/Blogs/nielsen_travis/pages/default.aspx I tried commenting the two security nodes, removing its' allowInsecureTransport attributes, and setting then False. As Lionel wrote in his comment I tried also modifying "Central Administration / Application Management / Configure service application associations / Application Proxy Group" of my share point web application. My application pool for User Profile Service Application seems working and User Profile Service status is Started. One thing I remember about my issue, first I tried creating User Profile Service Application I got some error message and tried creating User Profile Service Application again. It gave me some other exception and than I navigated somehow to the "Manage service applications" page and there the desired User Profile Service Application was magically on the list with status Started. I thought - that's great! But when I clicked the User Profile Service Application link I got the nasty red error I mentioned at the beginning. Any ideas?Regards,Dawid Ireno

AJAX Extenders in SharePoint 2010

Hello All, I have few WebParts from 2007 and I am trying to deploy them in 2010.  None of the extenders seem to be working. Initially I got the error: "Message: AjaxControlToolkit requires ASP.NET Ajax 4.0 scripts. Ensure the correct version of the scripts are referenced. If you are using an ASP.NET ScriptManager, switch to the ToolkitScriptManager in AjaxControlToolkit.dll." I added the tag: <cc1:ToolkitScriptManager id="ScriptManager" runat="server"></cc1:ToolkitScriptManager> it went away. Now I am seeing: Message: 'Sys' is undefined Message: 'Type' is undefined Message: 'Sys.Extended.UI' is null or not an object Message: Sys.ArgumentException: Value is not the name of the type being registered or the name is a reserved word.Parameter name: typeName Can you please help me. SharePoint 2010 Search Service Application: "All Content" scope contains 0 items?

I've encountered a nasty bug in our setup. Our Search Service Application manages to crawl all content just fine. However, the scopes don't work. We've got a total of 570 items currently in our crawl database. 350 of these are of class 'People', and appear in the 'People' scope. The remaining 220 items should appear in 'All Content' as part of the intra (sites, documents etc), however the 'All Content' scope reports 0 items. I've tried the following: -Creating custom scopes (still 0 items) -Recreating the Search Service Application twice -Tried different accounts as the content access account. -Ensuring that the content access accounts do have 'full read policy' -Checked the crawl log for successful content (such as sites and documents). However, despite my efforts I still get 0 items for 'All Content'.  Has anyone else encountered this problem, or do you have any recommendation for us? Currently I don't see any other option than to reinstall everything.

problem rename sharepoint 2010 search service application admin database

Hi all, i have a problem that hopefully someone has an answer to.  i am not too familiar with sharepoint so please excuse my ignorance. we have sharepoint 2010 on a windows 2008r2 server.  everything seems to work fine.  but as you know, the default database names are horrendous.  i have managed to rename all of them, except for the "search service application" admin database. the default is: Search_Service_Application_DB_<guid> the other 2 databases (crawl and property) were renamed without a problem. we are following the article from technet on how to rename the search service admin db (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-nz/library/ff851878%28en-us%29.aspx).  it says to enter the following command: $searchapp | Set-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication -DatabaseName "new database name" -DatabaseServer "dbserver" however, i get an error about identity being null.  no big deal, i add the -Identity switch and the name of my search service application.  but the real problem comes the error it throws:   Set-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication : The requested database move was aborted as the associated search application is not paused. At line:1 char:54 + $searchapp | Set-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication <<<<  -Identity "Search Service Application" -DatabaseName "ShareP

Creating Custom ASP.NET Control for use on a SharePoint 2010 OOTB WebPart

I am currently trying to develop a custom asp.net control that can be deployed to SharePoint 2010 and then included on something like a New item form. I have been able to build the control as part of a webpart but it needs to be done as a stand alone control that can be used on various webparts including the out of the box webparts like the WebPartPages:DataFormWebPart. Are there any good examples of building a custom control, deploying it to SharePoint and then using SharePoint designer to add that control to an existing web part?
