Adding a new trusted identity token issuer

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I added a new custom sts to my sharepoint site using New-TrustedIdentityTokenIssuer using powershell script that I wrote, and it worked fine.

Then I removed it from Sharepoint using powershell command.

I am trying to add it back using the same script in the first step, but I am getting exception thrown by the New-SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer command.

The exception does not tell much :

New-SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer : Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

Windows Identity Foundation Security Token Service can't stay logged in

I'm using the Windows Identity Foundation **(WIF)** Security Token Service **(STS)** to handle authentication for my application which is working all well and good. However I can't seem to get any long running login with the STS. From my understanding I shouldn't care about the client tokens at the application level since they can expire all they want to and it should redirect me to the STS and as long as they're still logged in on the STS it should refresh their application token. Yet it doesn't seem to want to keep them signed in. Here's what occurs in my login.aspx on the STS var cookie = FormsAuthentication.GetAuthCookie(userName, persistTicket); if (persistTicket) cookie.Expires = DateTime.Now.AddDays(14); Response.Cookies.Add(cookie); var returnUrl = Request.QueryString["ReturnUrl"]; Response.Redirect(returnUrl ?? "default.aspx"); Which was taken almost directly from existing application using normal Forms Auth. From my web.config <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms loginUrl="Login.aspx" protection="All" timeout="2880" name=".STS" path="/" requireSSL="false" slidingExpiration="true" defaultUrl="default.aspx" cookieless="UseDeviceProfile" enableCrossAppRedirects="false" /> </auth

I got this problem not able to find the couse of it.  I have given read permission to serviceaccount and App pool acount. still I get this error.  Any suggestion is appreciated. Custom IP-STS - The trusted login provider did not supply a token accepted by this farm.

Similar to this thread , I am attempting to setup a Trusted Identity Provider for SharePoint 2010.  I have made it past all the errors in that thread to successfully get a token created with custom claims and have them placed in a token and successfully decrypted on the SharePoint side.  However, SharePoint doesn't like my unencrypted token. I have removed the bearer information from the token on the STS side but that didn't do anything.  I also remove the Microsoft.SharePoint.IdentityModel.SPSaml11SecurityTokenHandler and the SPPassiveIssuerNameRegistry, but still get the same error:   Exception information:     Exception type: FaultException     Exception message: The trusted login provider did not supply a token accepted by this farm.   Request information:     Request URL: http://sharepoint2010:777/_trust/default.aspx     Request path: /_trust/default.aspx     User host address: fe80::f1bd:4865:3597:c845/_trust     User:      Is authenticated: False     Authentication Type:      Thread account name: CONTOSO\administrator   Thread information:     Thread ID: 6     Thread account name: CONTOSO\administrator     Is impersonating: False     Stack trace:    at Microsoft.IdentityModel.Protocols.WSTrust.WSTrustClient.Issue(RequestSecurityToken rst, RequestSecurityTokenResponse& rstr)    at Microsoft.IdentityModel.Protocols.WSTrust.WSTrustClient.Issue(RequestS

On adding WCF Service reference element is not created

Hi Friends,

I am using x.509 certificate based authentication in my WCF service. In development stage, I created a x.509 certificate using makecert utility. Installed it on my local machine. Added the reference to the certificate in my WCF service. When I added the service reference to my Test App, following element got created in the app.config file of the Test App.

            <endpoint address="http://localhost/MyService/MyService.svc"
                binding="wsHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="wsHttpEndpoint"
    contract="MyService.IMyService" name="wsHttpEndpoint">
                <identity>
                    <certificate encodedValue="Long encoded string..." />
                </identity>
            </endpoint>

I then deployed the WC

MySites using Trusted Identity Provider

Planning on creating an Services Application Farm to host User Profile Service (UPS) and other services /w MySites, but how to configure MySites to use an IP-STS.

Looking at a current SharePoint 2010 installation the Authentication Type only has the radio button for Windows selected, and the others are gray-out on the /_admin/Authentication.aspx page, so it appears this Web Application (hosting MySites) Membership Provider will not allow conversion to claims mode.

Is this even a supported configuration?

Error when adding trusted locations to infopath 2010

The trusted location list for my infopath installation does not contain any folders, which itself is odd to begin with.

Whenever i try to add a location on my computer ( c:\ , c:\ somefolder etc) It keeps saying , the path you have added is not valid or cannot be added for security reasons!!

Could some one tell me whats going on?Thank you

Arun

Why the message "There are no trusted identity providers" in Sharepoint 2010 if it has a STS

When you create a new web application in Sharepoint 2010 and you select "Claims based authentication" for the Authentication option, the "Trusted Identity provider" box is greyed out.

There are some blogs etc. about how you add a custom STS or something like ADFS, but isn't the built-in Sharepoint STS an identity provider?

What part does the Sharepoint STS play in a web application? Is it a different type of STS?

Are Sharepoint claims enabled applications different to WIF claims enabled applications?

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

Adding Search Refinements in SharePoint 2010

I have been playing around with SharePoint 2010 Search this morning. I love the new UI. The search refinements panel is just begging to be messed with. In my case I wanted to add the file extension JPG as an Image Type refiner.
