I am attempting to get reporting services running in integrated mode with sharepoint 2010. I have everything installed and features turned on. In the site collection, when I click on Site Settings >
Reporting Services Site Settings, I am presented with:
Error: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
I get virtually zero hits when searching for this. Any help is appreciated.
I tried to create a new query component using powershell commands

In my search service application the 'query component' is stuck on the 'initialzing' status. So I googled to fix that error and found an article.
below the heading search fix.But I have some doubts regarding that.
In that post it has mentioned about the 'SetupEnterpriseSearch.ps1' and the configuration file 'searchconfig.xml'.
As mentioned in the first step of that article : How can i load the SetupEnterpriseSearch.ps1 to the powershell and what all things I need to change inside that file. Can anyone please explain that in detail.
In the second step : Execute “Start-EnterpriseSearch “<path> \searchconfig.xml”" what is the path that need to be specified and what all things have to be changed inside that config file.
Please help .Thanks in advance.
I wanted to specify database name manually for Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Search Service under Application management | Manage services on server | Sharepoint Foundation Search . Under Search database settings, it says 'Use
of the default database server and database name is recommended for most cases. Refer to the administrator's guide for advanced scenarios where specifying database information is required.' . Specifying database name field is coming grayed out and can't have
option to specify my own database name. Any help to specify database name for foundation search will be highly ppreciated.
I have a SharePoint 2010 Site Configured with Claims based FBA. I have also made
My Site work with FBA.
My question is:
In 2007 I would create a seperate SSP for FBA based my site and Set all configuration there. As SharePoint 2010 supports
Service Application Proxy how can I isolate FBA based My site and Other AD sites.
While I was able to select the required services for my Site using Configure service application associations link in Central admin, all changes I make in My Site Settings reflect for both FBA & AD based application.
How do I isolate My Site changes ?? I wanted to have different configuration for each of the My Sites
I click on "Search settings" in SSP then the following error: "The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether
the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress.
My SSP work fine last time, but for now it fails in "Search settings". I checked very carefully.
Office Sharepoint Server Service (OSSS) is started, "Index Server Default File Location" in OSSS is D:\MOSS_index.
"Path for index file location" of SSP is D:\MOSS_index with full right permission is ok and shared. But i checked folder D:\MOSS_index and folder D:\MOSS_index is
empty, guid folder in D:\MOSS_index was lost.
I checked "Search Administration" in SSP and found that "Items in index" is 0 and "Crawl status" is error, "Default content access account" is error.
Not 100% sure this has nothing to do with environment, but it seems there is a bug in the implementation of OR logic in Where clause of search service, that it does not try to find all the matching records but returns as long as some of the criteria are
satisfied. For example, a query like the following:
Select Title, Path, JobTitle, WorkEmail, Stream, Department, Section, WorkPhone, MobilePhone, PictureUrl, Responsibilities, Skills, Languages FROM scope()
WHERE "SCOPE" = 'People' and (
FirstName like '%glen%' or LastName like '%glen%' or Department like '%glen%' or Section like '%glen%'
or skills like '%css%'
returns records matching skills having css but not the first 4, ie firstname, lastname, etc. However, moving the bracket from the end to after Section, ie.
WHERE "SCOPE" = 'People' and (FirstName like '%glen%' or LastName like '%glen%' or Department like '%glen%' or Section like '%glen%')
or skills like '%css%'
returns expected results in this case. However adding more criteria in the OR clause breaks it again.
As OR should be orderless, I think that must be flawed somewhere. Some people might question LIKE with null values, but my experiments showed this was not the case. My guess is that SharePoint search is not accurate in de
We have a portal on our SharePoint farm in which the users want to create a new search scope for that portal only (rather than me creating a global search scope). We are able to create the scope without problem, however when we click "add rules"
I get the error message: "The search service is currently offline."
This isn't true though as the search server/indexer is fine and online. We are having problems with our logs so theres no way to troubleshoot this, but I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into the issue.
We implement search providers for both Live.com and SharePoint so you can take advantage of either in your own applications.

I am working sith WSS 3.0.
I have one webapplication with one sitecollection.Later i wanted to provide it HTTPS URL, so i extended the WebApplication with option-Yes in SSl field.
And in the virtlay directory properties -> Directory Security -> Secure communications -> Edit
selected Required Secure Chanel.
Thats it. I didn't do anything in that.
Then because of some problems , i deleted the iis website of extended webapplication from central admin.
After that when ever i try to open the site, it shows service unavailable. And the application pool is getting disabled.
Please help me to get the site working.
Thanks in advance.

I've got a site 'B' created under site 'A' in SharePoint. When I'm at Site A, I can search and find things that exist in both A&B. However, when I'm in B, the 'highest' search scope I can pick is 'B.' I'd like to be able to select one step higher so
that I can search A&B from any page. Is this possible?
We have Usage Analysis enabled on our employee portal farm. The SSP in this farm crawls all local SharePoint sites and one child farm. When we view search and query reports, one of the site collections (in a dedicated web app) is missing.
All other web apps/site collections appear in the search/query reports. The missing site collection is using the standard search pages and web parts - no customization with the object model that might break usage logging.
Has anyone else ran into this or know the solution?
We have a document library on a site created off of the Report Center site template. We uploaded a Word 2007 document with the word zebra in the text. Using the search bar at the top of the page we selected This list: Our document library and searched for
zebra. We received no results.
We tested the same thing on another site (site template Team site) within the same site collection and search worked fine.
Does the Report Center search function differently then the search functionality on the Team site?
i have a problem with search function where everytime i search any file/doc the error message "Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information." occurred. I realized that
there are items in central admin but it is "not available" in my site. I already follow several guides that had been provided in this forum but still the same. Even, i already create new SSP and configure the search scope, content source and also crawling.
FYI, i used Microsoft Sharepoint 2007.
Hope anyone could help me to solve this problem. Thanks.
I'm using a custom.master page, which is applied to almost all pages available to READ users.
However, I'd like to apply it to the Search, Site Settings, and View All Site Content pages.
I'm not sure where this would be applied.
Guidance much appreciated. Thanks!
