Showing the date in each users Timezone

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi,

I have added a visual webpart in sharepoint web site. In the web part, I have added a sharepoint datetime control. The sharepoint site will be viewed by users in US, UK and INDIA.

The users should be able to use the date according to the Nationality. That is, the date should reflect to user's system date, and Dates that are selected by users must not be impacted by timestamp or time zone from which they are entered.

How to achieve this?

Thank you

Date Entry - Calendar not showing for all users

Hello

So on a data entry form I have several fields, one of which is Date. Now I can see a tiny little calendar that then allowed me to click on the required date however no one else in the group can see this, they have to enter the date manually.

I have admin rights, where as they do not but I cant see why this would stop such a small thing working...

any ideas?

Thanks.

Database Users showing disabled

In SSMS, a database user is showing up as disabled (a down reddish arrow). When I look at the server login - it shows that it is a valid login to the instance. I go to Login Properties and then click User Mapping on the GUI and check the particular database to add/enable this user to a Role. However, no luck. It still shows the user as disabled. The user cannot connect to the database. This is in SQL Server 2005, EE64.

Can someone please help? - Thanks.

Disable past date, showing URL in gridview and validate generated number

Hi,

I've got 3 problems and I can't find the solution so that's why I'm here.
1. I've got a calander for adding a product to my shop. How can I make sure that you can't select a date in the past?
2. I have a gridview, and I have added a hyperlinkfield in access. When I'm filling up my gridview it doesn't show a link, it shows this:
example= www.Groezrock.be#http://www.Groezrock.be#
3. I've added a label and a textbox on my guestbook page. It says "Please fill in the number in the textbox -label that generates 4 random number- txtbox.
For filling up the textbox I use this code:

        Dim randObj As New Random
        lblVraag.Text = (randObj.Next(1001, 10000).ToString)

The problem is, when I fill in the number, it always gives me the validation error "Numbers don't match" which I added myself.

        If txtnumbers.Text = lblnumbers.Text Then
            ...
        Else
            lblFout.Text = "Numbers don't match."

End If

Using a CompareValidator to check input is a valid date

The CompareValidator can do more than just compare two controls. You can also compare it against several of the main .net data types such as Date, Integer, Double and Currency.

To do this you would set Operator="DataTypeCheck" and instead of setting the ControlToCompare or ValueToCompare attributes as you normally would you use the Type="Date" (or any of the data types I have listed above).

MS SQL Server: Disconnect Users From Database - Kill User Session

If you ever wanted to restore your database from a SQL backup file (.bak), but there are still users connected to your database, the backup operation will fail causing the error: Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use.

Enabling Users to Maintain SharePoint Content

When SharePoint is installed as a corporate intranet, there is a considerable amount of effort involved in maintaining the content to keep the site relevant. As we discussed in the first few parts of this series, SharePoint has many built-in features to reduce the burden on the site administrator.

Some areas of the site usually contain less-dynamic information. Internal memos and corporate policies are common examples of this information. One option for this information is to post these documents in a document library. Documents in a library are often stored in a few different formats: Word, Acrobat (PDF), or HTML. Each of these formats has its drawbacks.

How To Set a Date Format In GridView Using ASP.NET 2.0

A very common desire is to set a column of a gridview to display just the month, day and year of a DateTime type. The problem is the by default, the HtmlEncode property of the boundfield attribute (
The problem is that if this field is enabled, you can not pass format information to the boundfield control. That is, if you try the following code, you will not get the desired result.

jQuery Date picker Implementation in ASP.NET

I've posted a wrapper ASP.NET around the jQuery.UI Datepickercontrol. This small client side calendar control is compact, looks nice and is very easy to use and I've added it some time back to my control library.

This is primarily an update for the jQuery.ui version, and so I spend a few hours or so cleaning it up which wasn't as easy as it could have been since the API has changed quite drastically from Marc's original implementation. The biggest changes have to do with the theming integration and the resulting explosion of related resources.

If you want to use this component you can check it out a sample and the code here:

Data Types - Date and Time in SqlServer

Date and time values can be stored with either the DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME data type. The difference between the two is that SMALLDATETIME supports a smaller range of dates and does not give the same level of precision when accounting for time. The DATETIME data type can hold values from January 1st of 1753 to December 31st of 9999. The time is stored to the 1 three hundredths of a second and each value takes up 8 bytes of storage. The SMALLDATETIME data type can hold values between January 1st 1900 and June 6th of 2079. The time is tracked to the minute and each value takes up 4 bytes of storage. The majority of business applications can live happily with SMALLDATETIME, however, if you are in an environment where each second matters or you need to make estimates to the distant future (or past) then you have to resort to DATETIME. If you fail to specify the time when inserting a value into a DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME column, a default of midnight is used. If you fail to specify the date portion the default of January 1, 1900 is used.

The essential date and time functions that every SQL Server database should have to ensure that you can easily manipulate dates and times without the need for any formatting considerations at all.

Date/Time Conversions Using SQL Server

There are many instances when dates and times don't show up at your doorstep in the format you'd like it to be, nor does the output of a query fit the needs of the people viewing it. One option is to format the data in the application itself. Another option is to use the built-in functions SQL Server provides to format the date string for you.
