Headline/Title of Web Part Pages

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I created a web part page.  Since it is a file, I put no spaces in it's Name when creating the page.  However, now when the user views the page, the page title/headline has no spaces in it.  Is there a way to change this short of going into Designer and changing the code?

I'm on MOSS 2007

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 1 of 2

In this first part of the two part series, Steven covers the differences between Site and Application pages in SharePoint 2007, why each may be used in various circumstances, and prepares for the construction of a menu located application page. After a brief introduction he examines the concept of Site Pages and Application Pages separately in detail with supported screenshots.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 2 of 2

As the second article in a two part series, Steven examines the attributes and details of a SharePoint 2007 application page, including the construction and feature deployment of the same page based project. Since this is a WSS level objective, as opposed to MOSS, you will not need MOSS to work with the code included in this project. Windows Server 2003, WSS, and Visual Studio 2005 are all that is needed, with no additional add-ons. He provides a detailed analysis of each step involved in the creation and deployment of the project.

Cutting Edge: Subclassing and Overriding ASP.NET Pages-Part I

There are a number of techniques that allow you to modify a running ASP.NET page without touching its source code. Dino discusses some this month.

Web Part working fine on the top-level page but 'Not Safe' error on lower-level pages.

I have created a Web Part which reads and parses the SharePoint logs in order to display usage information of the page it resides on.  The Web Part works perfectly on the top page, reading and displaying the information desired.  However, once the Web Part is added to any page lower in the site heirarchy (sub-page) the same Web Part throws the following error:

Web Part Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type could not be found or it is not registered as safe.

Of course the current version of the Web Part is in the SafeControls list on the web.config.

The Web Part was originally designed to return site activity only for the top default.aspx page and worked fine but started to fail in the manner described above once I added the following line of code to return a SPCo

Issues with Web Part Title and Description information

I have created a series of visual web parts for my clients SharePoint 2010 server farm and for each one I have altered the default values for the visual web part title and description, both of which can be found in the visual web part control's .webpart file. Example ... <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <webParts>   <webPart xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WebPart/v3">     <metaData>       <type name="ECUserContWebPart.ECUserCont, $SharePoint.Project.AssemblyFullName$" />       <importErrorMessage>$Resources:core,ImportErrorMessage;</importErrorMessage>     </metaData>     <data>       <properties>         <property name="Title" type="string">Employee Centre User Content Web Part</property>         <property name="Description" type="string">Staff Events Calendar - Discussions - Blogs for Employee Centre</property>       </properties>     </data>   </webPart> </webParts> When I deploy this to my local development environment using Visual Studio 20

Content Editor Web Part Title Wrap

Hello! I have run into a strange problem with wrapping the web part titles for the content editor web part. The classes appear to be the same for both the content editor titles and the list web part titles, however, the styles I applied ( word-wrap: break-word !important; ) and ( white-space: normal !important; ) are only working on the list web part titles. These web parts are in zones with a fixed width, and cells with a fixed width, but anytime a content editor part is added (with a long title) it still blows out the zone instead of wrapping the text. Any ideas would be appreciated.

having problem opening up pages correctly from web part

Hi all, I have a SL4 application that I'm trying to deploy as a webpart in Sharepoint 2010. To give you a background -- the SL project name is MyStuffApp. And there's a designated test page project called MyStuffApp.Web. Now, MyStuffApp has 2 different xaml pages, page1.xaml and page2.xaml. I've added two aspx pages on MyStuffApp.Web called page1.aspx and page2.aspx to respectively host the two xaml.  When I run the application, page1.aspx opens up. It has a hyperlinkbutton on it, which when clicked, opens up pag2.aspx. I've properly managed this on App.xaml.cs as well.  Now my problem is -- when I deploy the project as a web part, I can see page1.aspx. But when I click on that hyperlinkbutton, it doesn't display the content of page2.aspx, and I instead get the standard IE error "cannot display the webpage".  Can someone help me troubleshoot the issue? I'm very new to web parts, so I'm trying to learn things step-by-step.    Thanks.

aligning columns in web part pages

Hi, i have a page that has lots of web parts displaying various lists. I cannot get the columns to line up properly, so they all look misaligned. Is there any way to fix this? I found this article which describes the problem exactly but the fix only works for SharePoint 2007 ( I am running SharePoint 2010 Enterprise) http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointgeneral/thread/b92955a8-a1c9-45e1-91e4-b241513b0e25

user login & secured access pages via web part?

The client wants to have certain sharepoint-driven pages available only to their end customers who login to the site via secured login (to the site content, not the sharepoint CMS).  Can this be done via a web part somehow?  We're not a sharepoint house, and have been asked to take over management of this sharepoint driven site! Normally we'd write an ASP chunk to validate against a database but not sure how to do this (or by some other method) in the Sharepoint CMS. Thanks...

i want to keep title 2 master pages???

i have master pages and 3 pages...

i wnt to set title to each page how is it????

Seeking consistent use of title for SP pages, sites, subsites, etc

I have set up a title line under the main nav that displays the title to let the user know what page they're on.  This is pretty standard "best practices" methodology.  Those darn picky users like to actually know where they are.

The code I put in works fine for sites and subsites, but not for "sitepages" or layouts like Discussions Boards ... where it shows the site or subsite name instead.  Here is the code:

<div name="onetidProject PropertyTitle" class="pagetitle">

<SharePoint:ProjectProperty Property="Title" runat="server"/>

I realize there needs to be code to discern among the various type pages and this code doesn't cover it.  Probably there is a hint of what to do in the write-up "A Single Breadcrumb for all SharePoint Pages"

Visual Web Parts - programmatically change Web Part Title not working

I have four custom made Web Parts (based on the Visual Web Part template) that show a filtered set of data from various lists. These work just fine on my front page (which is a Publishing enabled page/site). Each Web Part has some functionality for setting a date filter on the set of data. Now, on every load I generate a string which tells what the current filter is (default filter, custom set date filter +++) and set this string to the Web Part's Title. This text then shows up in the Web Part's header. All this works just fine on the front page.
However, I also have a few sub sites that are based on either the Blank Site or a Team Site and on these sites setting the Web Part's Title property doesn't work. Well, it works, but doesn't get rendered. If I do a "Edit page" or go to one of the Web Part's properties, all the Web Parts' headers get updated to the correct text. But, the next time I load the page, it's back to some old value.

I dont' get it! Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Web Part pages in the Pages library don't inherit the Site Icon?

I just noticed that for Web Part Pages created through the UI and placed into the Pages library don't seem to inherit the Site Icon. I tested this in two environments.

I want to keep using the Pages library as I've linked the page to the top link bar, and it highlights it properly if it's in the pages library. However I can't seem to be able to fix the Site Icon on that page.

Is this a known bug or have I done something wrong?

How to hidde Web part group from ribbon in a publishing and wiki pages?

I want to hide Webpart group for users with special permmision.

I have created this custom action

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
   Location="CommandUI.Ribbon" Rights="ManageWeb">
          Location="Ribbon.EditingTools.CPInsert.WebParts" />

But when I do edit page->insert I still have this group.

Anonymous Access - Web Part Pages with Web Part Connections

Basically, I have a SharePoint Foundation site I'm building out with lots of lists and libraries being related with lookup columns and metadata.  After getting everything setup and all my items associated with the proper metadata, I created a web part page.  On this page, I put each of my associated lists/libraries with special views to optimize screen usage.  Lastly, I connected them all with web part connections - they all are filtered by the main web part.  The filter works wonderfully, and I can browse to it with an authenticated user, but anonymous users get a Windows prompt every time.

- On the web app, I have no policy set for Anonymous Users, and Anonymous Access ie enabled
- On the Site Collection, Anonymous Users allowed to see the "Entire Web Site"
- On the Site Pages library, Anonymous Users have the "View Items" permission
- On every page, list, and library in the site, Anonymous users have access and can see data except my one page with web part connections
- In the Site Pages library, Anonymous Users can see the page shown as a file
- If I remove all web part connections, then the Anonymous User no longer gets prompted and can see the page

Here is the version of the page without web part connections:
