Create a task list from existing task lists based on field values

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi!  I have a bunch (~10) of different task lists corresponding to different projects; each list has a mixture of Statuses, i.e., some completed, some In Progress, some Not Started.  I'd like to create a (preferably dynamically updated) single task list consisting of all the incomplete tasks from each of the project lists.  After much trial and error (I'm still a relative newbie with DB stuff; even more so w/ Sharepoint stuff) I figured out how to do this by viewing the lists in Access and creating a query which resulted in the compiled list I describe above; however, when I clicked on the "Publish" to Sharepoint button and returned to Sharepoint default view, I couldn't find this new list anywhere (e.g., the new, empty list I had created and changed to Access view, and from which I imported the other lists and created my query, was empty, and my list of task lists in the left side-bar didn't have my query-result-list).

How do I do what I want, w/ or w/out Access?  Thanks!

Can I create several steps to be run on a SharePoint list as a task to run on a daily basis?

We have a manual process that we do on a SharePoint list to export data from SharePoint to a spreadsheet that can then be used by non SharePoint programs.  I'd like to be able to automate this process so that it can be scheduled as a Task to run on a daily basis.   Not sure if a workflow can do what I'd like it to.  I have SharePoint Designer 2007 as well.

Here are the steps:

1. Load a particular View of a SharePoint List

2. From the view's Action menu, "Open with Access"

3. Save the resulting Access database as a file to a specific Folder on the computer hosting SharePoint

This would be run as a Task on the computer hosting SharePoint.

How to assign values to workflow task person or group custom field?

Using visual studio 2008, in createTask_MethodInvoking, I have the following code. RequestFields has the values from the InfoPath form. ApprovingPersons is a person or group field, added to the task list by my custom task content type. I checked the task list associated with the workflow and I see the custom field.

SPUser user;
SPFieldUserValueCollection fuvc = new SPFieldUserValueCollection();
foreach (Contact person in RequestFields.Persons)
      user = workflowProperties.Web.EnsureUser(person.LoginName);
      fuvc.Add(new SPFieldUserValue(workflowProperties.Web, user.ID, user.Name));

// this is the line causing problem, I believe
PreApprovalTask_TaskProperties.ExtendedProperties["ApprovingPersons"] = fuvc;

I got the following error message:

Setting Task Field Values in Custom .aspx Edit Form and accessing through ExtendedProperties

Since we're using WSS 3.0 and not MOSS 2007, we have to create and use ASP forms for any custom Workflow Task Edit pages instead of being able to use InfoPath forms (which would be nice...maybe some day we'll step up to MOSS). The custom Workflow Edit Pages are used for custom Task Content Types that we create so that our Workflow Tasks can have additional fields beyond the standard Workflow Task fields. Once you've collected the values for the Task fields from the user on the ASP Workflow Task Edit form, the typical procedure is to create a hashtable and fill the hashtable with key/value pairs that represent the names of your Task fields and their associated values, as such:

// This function is called when the user clicks the Save/Submit button
// on the Custom Task Edit ASP form
public void btnSubmit_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
  // Create a hashtable that will be used to update the values of task fields
  Hashtable taskHash = new Hashtable();
  // For each field, create two values in the hashtable. If the field name
  // matches a field in the Task content type, the field name will not be
  // searchable as a key within the ExtendedProperties hashtable. So
  // create a second field that is a duplicate of the first but having a
  // name that doesn't exactly match an existing field in the Task
  // content type. That way it will be a searchable ke

SharePoint calculated field based on other list values

Hello Everybody!

I have a repeating list that seems like that

List 1

Title    Number

A        10

B        11

A        11

B        9

I need to create a list with a field that contains each different titles from list 1 (A + B) and another column with the sum of the numbers associated with A or B in list 1.

List 2

Title     Number

A         21

B         20

My problem is that I don't know which method using to do that.

Calculated field can only use list field (not external list), infopath can get this but I don't know how to do it.

I wanted to know if someone has an issue other than developing. Because my client doesn't want to pay for a development.

Thank you very much!!!!

How to combine multiple task lists on multiple sites into single task list which then connects to Ou

I'm hoping someone can provide some insight into a problem I'm having.

I have been tasked with trying to find a way to create multiple sites within the same site collection with a standard Task list in each site.  Now, I'd like to combine each of those task lists into one single task list viewable by the managers.  I know I can create a dataview, however I haven't been able to get that view into Outlook using the "Connect to Outlook" option in the Actions Menu of a task list.

Is there a way this can be done?

Any help is appreciated.

How to Create a Task List in SharePoint 2013?

Tasks lists in SharePoint are used for capturing actions, to-dos, and deadlines. Whenever multiple people are working together to deliver on time a joint project or initiative you need some way of effectively communicating what everyone is supposed to do. You also track what everyone has (or has not) done in order to manage the project properly.

Parallel Debugging: Debugging Task-Based Parallel Applications in Visual Studio 2010

In Visual C++ 10 and the Microsoft .NET Framework 4, Microsoft is introducing new libraries and runtimes to significantly ease the process of expressing parallelism in your code base, together with new tool support for performance analysis and debugging of parallel applications. In this article, you will learn about debugging support in Visual Studio 2010, much of which is focused on task-based programming models.

Attach Workflow to Task List, don't get option to manually start workflow via dropdown on task item

I am running WSS 3.0 with other workflows which are functioning correctly.  I created a new workflow in Visual Studio 2008 and was able to successfully run it in my dev environment.  I attached the workflow to a task list in my dev environment and was able to manually start the workflow by using the drop down workflow option and using the menus to manually start it.  I installed this workflow in our production environment and attached it to the task list (which had a SPD workflow attached to it which stopped working about a month ago).  I made sure that the option to manually start the workflow was checked.  When I tried to manually start the workflow, (hover mouse over title, drop down) there isn’t a workflow option.  The workflow also will not start automatically when a task is changed.

I attached this same workflow to a different task list in production and get the option to start it.

I have tried creating a small workflow in SPD 2007 and attaching it to the task list.  It shows that it is attached, when I look at the workflows that are attached to the task list, but I still don’t get the option to manually start it.

I have checked my security and I have fu

Updating Task Lists and Form Libraries From Workflow Form

There are actually two separate (I think) problems here. The scenario: I used the SharePoint Designer 2007 to create a workflow attached to a form library. When a form is submitted to the library, a To-Do-Item is created on a task list. The To-Do-Item is initially assigned to a GROUP. A user from the group then selects the name of an individual from a choice list in edit item. This person now becomes the Assigned To for the task.

What is needed is 1) To update the Assigned To column of the Form library when someone in the GROUP assigns the task to an INDIVIDUAL; and 2) To have the Due Date from the submitted InfoPath form propagate to the task list.

I've tried having one workflow try to do everything and also having a secondary workflow set up on the task list to do the task assignment update but have not been successful in solving either issue. I don’t think that I am really understanding how to Define Workflow Lookup when not working with the Current Item. I know what fields I want but I don’

Task Lists . Orphan Event Handlers

I wonder what are these empty event handlers that swarm in Task Lists with IDs 32767 ?

I think they can be a reason why my Announcements dont work from such lists. And wf dont autostart also (autostart on creation).

How do you create a custom BDC data field that allows for multiple selected values?
