SharePoint Search Server 2010 Express returns no search results for non-admin users

This is going to sound crazy, but anyway... bare with me... I have a SharePoint Search Server 2010 Express (RTM) installed with a crawl account (call it sharepoint_crawl) which has full read permission to an entire site collection of 100,000 documents. I have logged in with this account to make sure it has read access to everything, and it does. I run a full crawl of all documents and allow it to finish. If I try and search the content for an extremely common term (i.e. 50,000+ hits) I get no results. However, if I log in with a site collection admin I do get search results. There are no indexing errors or query errors in either log files or event log. Everything looks like it is working correctly - just no results for non-admins Anyone tripped on this? I have recreated the crawl account and perform a full re-index with the same results. What gets me is that the crawl account does have read permission to the content it is indexing, the content is indexed correctly, but the crawl account cannot get results back. It is as if security-trimming is removing everything. Any ideas?

Configure Incoming Email in SharePoint 2010 with a remote (public) SMTP Server

I have a standalone SharePoint 2010 Installation on my local network. Have configured the SMTP Services and a SMTP domain called "internalcompany.com". Created a hosts file entry also for that - now outlook is able to send emails to this domain; it reaches the drop folder and from there SharePoint picks it up and pushes to the document libraries. So far so good. But obviously this is not what I want to do: my www.company.com is my public domain and mail server is mail.company.com - how do I get the local SMTP point to this address - so that if someone sends an email to shareddocs@company.com (just like any other normal id), it comes to my local server and then SharePoint. How do I do this? Remember, my server is standalone and my network is not domain based and does not have exchange.Karthick

Problem sending an email to all users of a sharepoint group

Here is what we did so far: 1. created an OU in AD and delegated full control to Sp service account 2. Configured incoming email settings 3. on sp site created a new group with full control permission 4. created an email distribution group for this group with an email address 5. in CA approved the distribution group to be created in OU 6. In Ad we can check the OU is there with the specified email address 7. added users to the group, but when we send an email to the group email address it does not forward to the group members. SharePoint Portal Server 2003 - email alert based on due date

Hello All,

Hoping someone can help us here.

Note:Workflow/3rd party solutions not an option-

We would like to send an email alert when a list items due date is eqaul to "today".

We are trying to manage some certificates of compliance by flagging the "due date of the particular certificate (list item)" and sending an alert email when that occurs.

Is this feasible in any manner without workflow?

Is it possible to send an alert based on a calculated field when that calculated data changes? .

Any direction would be appreciated.

Thank you

Impact of changing backend and Front End Server hostnames and IP addresses on Sharepoint site

We have a migration scheduled for our Datawarehousing application. We use Sharepoint 2007. As a part of the migration activity, the hostname and the IP addresses of the backend sqlserver (on which Sharepoint administration and Configuration databases are hosted)  and the frontend server(Which hosts the Sharepoint Site) will be changed. Is is advisable? What precautions do we need to take in this migration? Could you provide any documentation with respect to changes to be done in case of Server hostname change.

Enabling Users to Maintain SharePoint Content

When SharePoint is installed as a corporate intranet, there is a considerable amount of effort involved in maintaining the content to keep the site relevant. As we discussed in the first few parts of this series, SharePoint has many built-in features to reduce the burden on the site administrator.

Some areas of the site usually contain less-dynamic information. Internal memos and corporate policies are common examples of this information. One option for this information is to post these documents in a document library. Documents in a library are often stored in a few different formats: Word, Acrobat (PDF), or HTML. Each of these formats has its drawbacks.

Send Email from SQL Server Express Using a CLR Stored Procedure

One of the nice things about SQL Server is the ability to send email using T-SQL. The downside is that this functionality does not exist in SQL Server Express. In this tip I will show you how to build a basic CLR stored procedure to send email messages from SQL Server Express, although this same technique could be used for any version of SQL Server.

If you have not yet built a CLR stored procedure, please refer to this tip for what needs to be done for the initial setup.
