Selecting a Task List in Sharepoint Designer 2007 while setting up "Collect Data from User"

When using Sharepoint Designer 2007 to Collect Data from User the task list cannot be selected.  Instead the Task list that is defaulted is the most recently created Task List.  How can I select a specific Task list to associate with"Collect Data from User"?

Trying to send email using Sharepoint Designer 2007 workflow and email enabled list


I have a a list that recieves email. I have few fields that shows me the originator: "E-Mail From" and "E-Mail Sender".

I am trying to create a workflow that will generate an auto reply to the originator but the SPD fails to recognize the email address in these two fields. It's either truncating part of it or uses the html ( href=mailto:Demo@DemoSomething.com) in the To field.

Problem with SharePoint Designer 2007 and Custom List Forms


I created several forms (Create/Edit/View) for a SharePoint list, using Custom List Forms.  I'm using Content Types in the list to ensure that each item only has the necessary fields.  When I created the ASPX forms, and inserted the Custom List Forms, I selected the correct Content Type, and I got the right fields inserted in the form.

Now, for some reason I can't identify, every time I create a new form, and insert a Custom List Form, SPD is bringing ALL fields from the list, instead of just bringing the fields included in the selected Content Type.

I have tried many different things to solve the problem, including creating new lists/content types/forms, etc. but SPD is doing the same thing all the time.

Can somebody tell me what may have gone wrong in SPD or MOSS?


Sharepoint 2007 Task List problems

I have encountered some problems with the task list web part and I wondered if anyone could suggest any solutions?   So heres what is happening. I create a new task list and check the box to have it send out emails when tasks are assigned. I create a new task, assign it to myself and I get an email, great! Then I see that everyone elses tasks are viewable in sharepoint and in outlook 2007 when I sync the webpart with that, which is no good. Okay no problem I'll make a change in the advanced settings of the webpart so 'only their own' is set for read and edit. Sounds good. However now when I create a new task and assign it to myself (just like before) I don't get an email (and nor does anyone else). (Incidently I tried reversing the item level permissions but still no emails). A second problem seems to be that people now also don't see tasks in sharepoint that have been created by someone else and assigned to them. Useful!   Any help would be much appreciated. More info can be provided as needed.

How to stop the mail trigger while editing a task list item in sharepoint 2007

I have a requirement to stop the mail trigger while editing a task list item in SharePoint 2007. When I am creating a task the mail is sending to the “Assigned to” Properly. But when I am editing the same task item again a mail is sent to the Assigned to user which I want to stop. Is there any out of box feature / settings to stop this mail trigger while editing. No permission to open a list pages in Sharepoint Designer 2007


We have a sharepoint site with two main lists.

List 1: I could open the pages, make changes BUT cannot create workflows (for the site).
List 2: I could not even open it. I get the message
"You do not have permission to do this operation. Ask your web site administrator to change your permission and try again, or log on with user account that has this permission ...."

I am secondary server administrator and also have 'full control' of the site.

Any ideas?

sharepoint 2010 task list to outlook 2007


I've connected to outlook a task list of sharepoint 2010.

Once connected I can see  only the activities assigned to one single user. All the activities assigned to multiple users are not reported

Does anyone know how to solve this bug?

SharePoint Designer 2007 - Customize List View - Error when saving view ASPX page


We have a custom list definition that includes custom site columns.  When we try to open one of the list view aspx pages in SharePoint to update the view query we get an error when trying to save the page in SharePoint Designer 2007.  We receive a warning that the operation will customize the page from the site definition, which is fine.  And then get a general "Server error: ServiceRequestorID" alert.  ServiceRequestorID is a custom site column used by the list definition.

 Is there any way to change Task list in sharepoint designer workflow?

Actually my previous Task List is too messy, and I want to create new Task List and associate new workflow to it?

How to add custom list entries to mysite's calendar in Sharepoint 2007 site?


I would like to know below things

(1) How to create MySite for one specific member with other or administrator's access?

(2) Scenario : Administrator have created one SP2007 site. now Administrator have created one calendar (Sample calendar). Administrator have added some entries in calendar. now one user entered in portal site ansd view the calendar and he click on MySite menu. so this sample calendar entries should enter in that user's mysite calendar. How this can be achieved?

How to tie a dropdown list from a nother table to a dataview in sharepoint designer



i created a dataview for a user table to insert new records. now i have to use a dropdown list that get data from another table. to insert in my user table. in the user table only the code is stored. but i need to get that code description that is in another table in my dropdownlist to choose from in my dataview.

How to Establish a Remote Web Site Connection in SharePoint Designer 2007


I am modifying a SharePoint site and so far so good.  Some of the objects were created using Visual Studio 2008 (C#).  I was able to modify these objects and implement them on the targete machine without issue.  The final step is to implement the ASPX pages that were modified using SharePoint Designer 2007.  These are aspx pages that are used to modify items in lists.  All the pages involved in this upgrade are customized.  I need to upgrade the target site with the modified version of these pages.  My intent is to copy the code from the page in the source site and past it into the same page on the target site.  I tried using the Remote Web Site connection tool in SharePoint Designer 2007 but received the following error message:

"Unable to open 'https://(site address)'.  Server Error:  Could not find a Web server at 'website'.  Please check to make sure that the Web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly.  If you are sure that everything is correct, the Web server may be temporarily out of service."

I am not sure how to first check to see if the Web Server is temporarily out of service.  I would appreciate your input on how to verify this.

Background information of target machine:  WinServer 2008, IIS 7, Sharepoint (MOSS2007), site on port 80

SharePoint Designer: insert custom list not working anymore



Suddenly sharepoint designer decided today that it doesn't want to insert a custom list form anymore...
To be more specific, it doesn't work anymore in a site that uses the Microsoft budgeting and tracking template. In a website that uses an out of the box template, it still works.

It did work before, because I did it in other websites using the same template (it's broken there as well now).

Why oh why does SharePoint refuse to do this now?
I searched google and here on the forums, but all I could find was some issues after installing SP1, but we did that already long time ago and it was still working after that. I checked with our infrastructure guys and they didn't install new updates they say.

I also tried the solutions listed here: http://blogs.msdn.com/spdsupport/archive/2008/07/03/how-to-fix-custom-list-forms-will-not-insert-or-show-up-on-the-design-surface-of-sharepoint-designer.aspx
But they don't fix the problem.

So my problem is, I can go to Insert > SharePoint Controls > Custom List Form
I pick my list, content type and form type, I hit OK and... nothing happens.

How to show previouse user comments on the task form of a user in sharepoint Designer

I am using sharepoint designer for designing workflow. I have 4 steps. on each step a user write some comments for the next user. now I want to show all those comments on task form for the current user to whom the task has been assigned.

Can I create several steps to be run on a SharePoint list as a task to run on a daily basis?


We have a manual process that we do on a SharePoint list to export data from SharePoint to a spreadsheet that can then be used by non SharePoint programs.  I'd like to be able to automate this process so that it can be scheduled as a Task to run on a daily basis.   Not sure if a workflow can do what I'd like it to.  I have SharePoint Designer 2007 as well.

Here are the steps:

1. Load a particular View of a SharePoint List

2. From the view's Action menu, "Open with Access"

3. Save the resulting Access database as a file to a specific Folder on the computer hosting SharePoint

This would be run as a Task on the computer hosting SharePoint.
