Lists Service Reference namespace doesn't have CookieContainer

Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I downloaded /_vit_bin/Lists.asmx?wsdl and ran the "Add Service Reference" Dialog on it (The MOSS server is behind ISA Forms-Based Authentication). The name of the reference is "ListsService".

The following code doesn't build.

ListsService.CookieContainer = new CookieContainer();

It indicates that CookieContainer isn't in the namespace.

How do I pass a cookie to the service? Am I missing a "Using" statement?

A little background because I feel I have an out of the ordinary architecture in place and don't know if this is contributing to the problem.

We have an existing ASP.net application that is undergoing expansion.  The new functionality is all written in Silverlight 4.  As part of that expansion I gutted all the old Linq to SQL and put Entity Framework 4 into place.  To do this I created a standard .net Class Library and added my edmx files there.  Naturally, the business entities created by this cannot be used in Silverlight.  So I created a Silverlight Class Library and added all the business entities to that Silverlight Class Library as linked files.  I changed the name space to be the same.

So I have the following assembly / namespaces

Company.Project.Dal.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (.net 4 class library)

Company.Project.Entities.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (SL4 class library)

With this architecture I was able to share my business entities with my SL enabled web services, my asp.net projects, my silverlight projects.  Really it's a beautiful thing.

Once this was done I added "message" classes to Company.Project.Dal and again shared them with the other entites using linked files.  These messages are things like MyObjectRequest; they are class

Error Consuming Web Service - Unable to import binding xxx from namespace ...

In VS2008 / C# / ASP.NET 3.5, I wrote a test web service app. Here is an extract from the code:

namespace emed.MathWebService
    /// <summary>
    /// Sample Math Services For Learning Web Services Deployment
    /// </summary>
    [WebService(Namespace = " http://localhost/MathService")]
    [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)]
    public class MathService
        public float Add(float a, float b)
            return a + b;

I have published this to an IIS virtual directory named MathService, and when I try to launch it with the URL http://localhost/mathservice/MathService.asmx is works fine and displays all the operations (Add, Subtract etc) in the service.

I then created a test web application in VS2008 (named WebSvcTe

logoff doesn't work through windows service

Dear Friends, I am facing this problem on Windows 2003 and 2008 Server. On XP it works fine. I have written and Windows Service that takes receives the command and executes tasks such as Logoff, Shutdown, etc. All the commands except Logoff works fine. I tried following ways to perform the Logoff. However it didnt work. Try 1:                 Process.Start("shutdown", "-l"); Try 2:     [DllImport("user32.dll")]     public static extern int ExitWindowsEx(int uFlags, int dwReason);     ExitWindowsEx(0, 0); Try 3:     Process _currentProcess = new Process();                _currentProcess.StartInfo = new ProcessStartInfo("shutdown", "-l -f");                _currentProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;                 _currentProcess.Start(); Try 4:     Process.Start("logoff.exe", null); If I write a simple C# based applicatin (not Service) it works fine for all the tries that I have made. I am facing this problem only when I put this code

Cannot get service reference for Net.tcp service hosted in IIS7

HiI've got a service that I want to host in IIS7. The service runs over net.tcp (currently without security), but I am unable to create a service reference to it, or call it, using the net.tcp protocol. My event log is populated with lots of errors related to ASP.NET and System.ServiceModel, relevant services are installed and running (net.tcp port sharing service and net.tcp listener adapter).O/S : Window7 RTMDevStudio: 2008I publish the webservice to IIS7 and I get a valid page when navigating to the published .svc file (which tells me to use svtutil.exe and point it at the net.tcp endpoint).For that, I get this error :    The message could not be dispatched because the service at the endpoint address 'net.tcp://gedm-desktop.profiledc01.appdevelop.local/ManageAVMEP/ManageAVMAgent.svc/mex' is unavailable for the protocol of the address.Googling the problem leads me down several blind alleys :(I cannot determine what is causing the net.tcp listener to keep stopping? Everything is fine if I use the wsHttpBinding.Any tips or pointers to a course of action would be appreciated.ThanksGed My event log is full of errors (here is a sample) :-------An error occurred while trying to listen for the URL '/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/ManageAVMEP'. Expose DataTable from WCF service, all Generic lists convert to arrays

I added a method to a .Net 3.5 WCF web service that returns a DataTable.  Other methods in the web service return Generic lists and/or take Generic lists as parameters.  When I update my reference to the altered web service from my client application all generic lists used as parameters or return types from all methods in the web service are converted to arrays.  In my service reference settings I have selected "System.Collections.Generic.List."  Apparently this setting has no effect when a web service returns a DataTable? Is there any way to prevent this from occuring? Steps to reproduce: Create a web service with methods that return Generic lists and/or take Generic lists as parameters. In a client application reference the web service and select "System.Collections.Generic.List" as the collection type.  Verify that return types/parameter types are generic lists. Add a method to the web service that returns a DataTable.  In a client application update the service reference. Note that all Generic lists (either as return types or method parameters) have changed to arrays.  This occurs even though the collection type service reference setting remains as "System.Collections.Generic.List".  Tom Regan

Error Build: Type or namespace could not be found, when referencing a web service

Hello, I'm new in writing C# application in Visual Studio 2008. I'm currently writing a web application for CRM 4.0 Reporting Service rendering. I reference my web application to our Reporting Service web service http://reportservername /ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx and name it 'RSWebReference'. Then I want to reference it in my code: Using RSWebReference; Not sure why, but I cannot build my solution, saying "The type or namespace name 'RSWebReference' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)". I read this thread in http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/74f70e30-83e8-4817-b5e0-7729450730a1 that the website probably is using .net 1.1, and I should change it to .net 2.0. However, I think the website is already using 2.0. Is it probably because I'm using VS 2008? How can I tell and change if the website is using 1.1 or 2.0? Or could I be doing something wrong? Thanks in advanced for your help! -Elizabeth K.

Cannot delete rows in a list via Lists web service's UpdateListItems-function, even though I am abl

Hi all, I'm trying to delete some rows in a SharePoint 2010 Foundation list via Lists.asmx -web service's UpdateListItems. The web service is called from BizTalk. I am able to create rows, but for some reason delete fails. I also use "GetListItems"-function without problems. The exception I get is Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException. The message is "Cannot access a closed Stream." The updates-element of the UpdateListItems-function is as follows (well, a part of it, the real one has more Method-elements, but you get the gist..): <Batch OnError="Continue" ListVersion="1"> <Method ID="1" Cmd="Delete"> <Field name="ID">1900</Field> <Field name="IMEI">GFA-687</Field> </Method> <Method ID="2" Cmd="Delete"> <Field name="ID">1901</Field> <Field name="IMEI">OVG-567</Field> </Method> <Method ID="3" Cmd="Delete"> <Field name="ID">1902</Field> <Field name="IMEI">OXI-570</Field> </Method> </Batch> I've also tried that Batch without the IMEI-information, as well as with a valid ViewName. Why cannot I delete when I can clearly modify/create rows - what's up with th

Field CLR Types via Lists Web Service

I have an app that is retrieving list data via the Lists web service.  Currently, all data is returned as a string in a DataTable.  This works ok, but it doesn't work with the charting tool, which needs values of type int or float.  So I set the column types based on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms131092.aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms437580(v=office.12).aspx.  For example, if the field type is Number, then I set the DataColumn type to Double.  But now, certain values cause exceptions because the returned value doesn't parse to the documented type.  For example, Lookup type fields are documented to be stored as int types, but the actual values returned are like "1;#". Does anyone have some advice about how to do this?  I have a big switch statement that checks the field type, and sets the DataColumn type according to the documentation, and I'm thinking of reducing it so that it only sets some of the types, for instance, Number and DateTime, but leaves the rest as string types.my blog - Tea Time with Meowkins

Can't Add Service Reference in VS 2010 to a net.tcp endpoint

I've got a service running (well, it doesn't crash), but when I try to add a Service Reference to it, I keep getting Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'net.tcp://localhost:55555/mex'. Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'net.tcp://localhost:55555/mex'. If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the solution and adding the service reference again. Deploy XBAP application with WCF Service Reference into multiple environments

Hi, we have a multiple environment setup (local, Development servers, QA servers, prod servers, etc.) and we are building an XBAP application that uses WCF Services to connect to databases.  We code and unit test everything locally and then deploy to our Development servers for more thorough unit testing.  The issue that we are having is that we don't see how to update the deployed XBAP application to use the Development server deployed WCF Service.  The only way we've been able to do this is by having to change the reference on my local machine, complie, and redeploy the XBAP.Question:  How do we configure a deployed XBAP's Service Reference to point to the same service on a different server than what it was originally compiled/deployed with?  (Like in some configuration file...NOTE: but we also don't see a config file after deploying the XBAP.)  We don't want to have to update the Service Reference for QA, Prod, Training, Stage, etc. on our local machines, compile and redeploy every time we need to migrate the application to a new environment.Thanks!

How do I generate service reference activities in my rehosted designer

My desginer is used to create lots of xamlx workflows.  These are hosted in app fabric. From Visual Studio I can add a service reference that points to my workflows, and it generates activities in my toolbar that I can use to call my service from another workflow. I'd like to do the same thing from my rehosted designer.  I figured it would be something like calling svcutil.exe, but couldn't find any information on this. Does anybody know how to create xaml activities by pointing at a service for a workflow designer rehost?   CheersJason Bolstad

"Assembly '...' Was Not Found" When including a reference to a local namespace

I've got a WPF application with a window and a usercontrol:   Window:   <Window x:Class="UI.Windows.Main" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:UI.Windows.Documents" Title="Window1" Height="600" Width="800"> <DockPanel> <!-- Snip --> </DockPanel> </Window>     UserControl:   <UserControl x:Class="UI.Windows.Documents.MyDisplay" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x=http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml> <Grid> <!-- Snip --> </Grid> </UserControl>       Now, when I try to look at this in the designer i get an error saying Assembly 'UI' was not found.  I've searched high and low, but the internet is full of references to this being a 2005 issue and the solution is to upgrade to 2008.  I'm already using 2008 (don't even have 2005 installed on the machine), and I still get the problem.

Problem adding a Service Reference

Hello all.

I am developing a Web Application using Visual Studio 2010 in witch I have to add a Service Reference to http://dev.virtualearth.net/webservices/v1/geocodeservice/geocodeservice.svc?wsdl.

The problem is that my company's network requires a proxy authentication. So when I enter the "Add Service Reference" dialog, paste the url and click "go" I get a "(407) Proxy Authentication Required" error and cannot add the service.

I also tried using svcutil but the result, obviously, was the same.

How can I work around this? Is there somewhere I can specify the required proxy? Googling around, I found some comments that it can be specified in the Web.config, but I can't find more details on how to do this.

Thanks in advance.

Cannot reference dll in windows service

I've created a windows service in VS 2010 which references the model conveniently placed in a separate project which compiles to a dll. I have no problem referencing this dll in other parts of my solution (web apps), but in my windows services the following symptoms display:

  1. Compiler error: The type or namespace %%% cannot be found (are you missing....
  2. I add a reference to %%% (directly to a dll copy or to the project, makes no difference).
  3. The compile error disappears.
  4. I build.
  5. The compile error reappears.

Using fw4.

What's up with that?

Edit: I can add and use other dlls ofcourse. Third party and microsoft's.
