Posted By:      Posted Date: December 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi

I have a problem, Well but im explaining this base on a test page that i have hosted as i was trying to track down my problem, i have a hosted page which i have hosted on the internet on a hosting service provider. the page has a normal gridview that is linked to a SqlDataSource. and theSqlDataSource has sql statements for selecting data, updating and deleting. They all work fine locally and even if i host them locally through IIS. but on the hosting service they down work.  only the select work, which means i can view my data on the gridview but i cant manipulate it, delete and updating dont wanna work, they dont do anything. and the worse part is that im not even getting an error from them, on the grid i have enabled the autogenerate edit button and the delete, how can i make the update and delete work, or what is it that makes them not to work. the code for my test page is below

Web Part working fine on the top-level page but 'Not Safe' error on lower-level pages.

Hi,

I have created a Web Part which reads and parses the SharePoint logs in order to display usage information of the page it resides on.  The Web Part works perfectly on the top page, reading and displaying the information desired.  However, once the Web Part is added to any page lower in the site heirarchy (sub-page) the same Web Part throws the following error:

Error

Web Part Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type could not be found or it is not registered as safe.

Of course the current version of the Web Part is in the SafeControls list on the web.config.

The Web Part was originally designed to return site activity only for the top default.aspx page and worked fine but started to fail in the manner described above once I added the following line of code to return a SPCo

Developing common content pages that can be hosted at the Web application or TLS level and can be sh

We are working on a Publishing site and planning to provision each client as a sub-site under the top level site (TLS). All of these sub-sites will almost have the same web pages and based on the client specific requirement they can customize these pages if needed. To meet the above requirement: I want to develop common content pages or application pages with the publishing capabilities and host them at the TLS, making these common pages available for all sub-sites under the TLS with the following requirements. ·        Sub-sites will not have any of these pages on their own and there would be only one central copy of this common page at TLS. ·        The sub-sites should be able to access these common pages in their context that means using the sub-site specific Master page & Themes. ·        When there is a specific customization is required such as adding a different web part, or updating the HTML data on the page, the common page will be edited in the sub-site and eventually making its own copy of the common page and resulting breaking apart from the common page for any future changes. ·        When the user edits the page he should be alerted that customizing this common page will make a local copy an

Out-of-box filter stops working as soon as I "Configure Datasource"

I'm running VWD 2008 Express with ASP.NET 3.5 I realize now that 4 has much better filtering controls, but I didn't realize that when I started my project.  Anyway, when I use the standard List.aspx to display a table, the filtering works just fine (yes, it's only foreign keys and booleans, but it works).  I then modify the linq datasource so that the gridview only displays the columns that I want, and the filter function immediately stops working.  You can choose from the drop down lists, but nothing happens.  As an aside, I don't want to set scaffolding to false for those columns because I do want them to show up in the Edit.aspx page.  My understanding is that scaffolding settings would keep the field from showing up in either page. What do I need to include in either the gridview or the linqdatasource to get the filter working again?   Thanks!

Retract custom master page feature and all site pages stop working

There is a requirement to apply custom branding on personal sites in a SP 2010 project. For this I have created a feature which uploads and applies the custom master page on creation of any new personal sites.   I have stapled this feature (using feature stapling concept) to the “SPSPERS” (personal site) site definition. The custom master page is displayed on the creation of new personal sites. On feature deactivation, I am looping through all the personal sites (as the feature is deployed on a team site) and pointing the master URL back to v4.master. But when I retract the solution and browse to the personal site, I am getting a “404 File not found” error.  But am able to view the settings page by typing the URL.   I activated the publishing features and looked at the master page applied to the personal site. It was pointing to v4.master.   Any help on this is appreciated. Regards, Neha

Accordion not working with master pages

Hi, I posted this in the other section before I realized this would be the more appropriate place. Anyhow, here is the issue. If I take the simplest masterpage and add a content page with nothing but the simplest accordion with 2 panes, it does not work properly. If I take it off the master page and just have html, it works great. Here is the code for both.First as html which works, then the content page and master page which doesn't. There is no code behind code in any case. Thanks ... CSS not working on hosted site.

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me understand why I cannot get CSS to work on a hosted site? I am using SPD 2010, Windows Server 2008, and IE-8. After putting my CSS script inside the PlaceHolderTitleAreaClass in the Master Page, I referenced it from a td on the edit template(DVWP template provided by SP for inline editing). SharePoint Designer will render the border color while previewing the template, however, the browser will not render the border color when logged in to my hosted site. The same procedure will work in a browser when I logged in to my development machine instead. Would CSS be server side code, and be blocked by the hosted site? I also tried an older version of the Master Page, and built a DVWP page from it. The results were the same. Thank you for your help!

HTML Editor not working in publishing pages - SharePoint

Hello All,

I am developing a SharePoint publishing portal wherein I make use of HTML Editor(third party control) in my page layout for editing the contents.

When I try to edit the page using the publishing console, the HTML Editor which I have added in my page doesn't appear at all. I monitored the design at run time using firebug and it showed no content. Where could I be wrong?

Debug WCF Service hosted on local IIS not working

I have one solution WCFSampleSolution and it has all my projects - Web Service, Client and Website. The structure is something like:

 + WCFSampleSolution
    - C:\WCFSample\Website
    - WCFService
    - WCFWebClient

I created WCFService project for my services. It contains IService1.cs and Service1.cs. Then I hosted the service in IIS. I did this by creating a website and adding .svc and web.config files to the website project. Then published it in IIS. When I run http:\\MyMachineName\Website\Service.svc, it shows the service description. Then I create the web client that calls the webservice. I used the service reference to add the service. It calls a method of Service1. It works fine. But I amnot able to debug this program/setup. I verified the config files in WCFWebClient project and Website project and they have proper debug settings.

<compilation debug="true">

I put break points but control never goes to my seb service. I also tried attach process, but it also doesn't work. But I was able to debug one of my other WCF projects. The setup was little different. In that project I copied the .svc file and config in my web client and the debug works fine.

Please HELP!!

v3.5 Ajax ToolkitScriptManager Extender Control not working in Nested Master Pages

I am using v3.0.31106.0 of the AjaxControlTookkit.dlll.  I have nested master pages.

.css pages not working until computer reboots

Hi, I don't have enough programming experience to properly explain this, but here goes: changes that I make to .css pages often don't take effect---unless I actually reboot my computer. (Much of the time) when I render an .aspx page in the browser right after making the changes, no changes are reflected; even restarting Visual Web Developer doesn't make the changes show up.

The only other way I found around this is to just add the styling right within the tags of the control on the .aspx page---a workaround that I would like to avoid having to resort to.

What could cause this, and how can it be fixed?

Thank you.
