Read Excel file from Web Application (C#)

Hi,

I have a web app where user uploads a file.

File is saved in server locally and I want to read some data from it.

Currently my development  server has office 2003.

So do I need office 2007 in order to be able to  read an excel from office 2007 ?

What are other requirements  ?

I tried a test, using

Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application excelApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application();
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook wrkBook; // = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook();

wrkBook = excelApp.Workbooks.Open(@"C:\www\excel_files\b.xls", ....);

But When trying to open the file I get the error:

Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC

So I'm wondering what I'm missing.

Thanks

Unable to read my RSS feed with XmlReader

Hello,

I have an RSS-feed page, which I developed with SyndicationFeed class. The page seems to work, and if I type the url into a browser, a page similar to this opens up: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/rss/default.aspx

However, I'm unable to read the feed into an XmlReader object. Let's say my rss page is "http://mysite/rss.aspx", and my code in the rss-retriever side is something like this:

XmlReader reader = XmlReader.Create("http://mysite/rss.aspx");

XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();

doc.Load(reader);

I get an error on doc.Load(reader) method:

For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the ProhibitDtd property on XmlReaderSettings to false and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method

I've tried to set the ProhibitDtd to false, but then I get some other error.

If I put something like this, I can save the xml dat into a file, and I can see that it's just like it should be:

XmlReader reader = XmlReader.Create("http://mysite/rss.aspx");

SyndicationFeed feed = new SyndicationFeed();
feed.Load(

Unable to connect Oracle UCM Secured site with .NET Application

Hi, I am working on an integration of a .NET application which calls Oracle UCM web services which does Search, checkin of files to Oracle UCM( Stellent). Here i have an option to connect to a secured Oracle UCM server with credentials which retrieves the result. Here i am facing a problem. When we send a (https://) request we are getting an error as shown below: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occured on a send. We are unable to do any code change on web services code as we have only the wsdl files. Tried Timeout related procedures which didnt work out. One more thing noticed is the .NET program connect to a http:// web url but not to https://. Is this a https:// issue with .NET application?   Kindly help with any inputs

InputStream.Read cannot read from stream

I am trying to read a file uploaded, parsing it to a byte array. But the problem is, it never gets read. When I debug it, the byte array will still have zero elements. int FileLength = File1.PostedFile.ContentLength; if (File1.PostedFile != null && File1.HasFile) { Stream fStream = File1.PostedFile.InputStream; byte[] contents = new byte[fStream.Length]; <strong>File1.PostedFile.InputStream.Read(contents, 0, FileLength);</strong> SPAttachmentCollection attachments = enquiry.Attachments; attachments.Add(fileName, contents); enquiry.Update(); } Problem occurs at the InputStream.Read. Afte that line, when i point to contents, it';s still zero. When I open the attachment in browser, it;s opened as a corrupt file or a red cross image.

Cannot read stream from uploaded file

I have a file upload which uploads a file and gets read into a byte array.int FileLength = File1.PostedFile.ContentLength; if (File1.PostedFile != null && File1.HasFile) { Stream fStream = File1.PostedFile.InputStream; byte[] contents = new byte[fStream.Length]; fStream.Read(contents, 0, (int)fStream.Length); fStream.Close(); fStream.Dispose(); The problem is, the fStream.Read seems to have a problem reading the stream. When I debug it, and the value of "contents" appears to be empty. The file gets uploaded as a corrupted file.

Unable to enter the product key in the Convert License Type page (textbox is read-only)

We installed both WSS and MOSS SP2 and had planned to follow the manual fix for the known issue that the patch unexpectedly activates a trial expiration.  However, the textbox to enter the product key is read-only.  We have tried accessing this page using the normal administrator credentials as well as the farm account; no success.The SP2 issue and manual fix is detailed here, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/971620We were able to experience this problem on a farm running the Feb 2007 cummulative patch (version 12.0.0.6341.5002) so it's not related to the SP.  But running the SP increasing the need to find the fix.Any help is appreciated,J. Strange lockup in multithreaded application - Visual Studio debugger unable to break execution

Multithreaded C# application, Visual Studio 2008, Windows XP, Framework 3.5 SP1. This application is a little crawling utility to download pages from our website, extract some information and upload it into a database. It runs for a while, then somewhere between about 10 minutes and an hour in, it locks up totally, user interface and all. When I try to "break all" in the VS debugger, I get a message "cannot break execution". Now the confusing thing about this is that since the UI was locking up, I thought that some deadlock must be happening on the main UI thread. So I started stripping out any code and locks that were being acquired on that thread that might cause problems ... until there was nothing left. Even with the window simply spawning a bunch of worker threads on create, then totally forgetting about them and giving no reverse access, the lockup still happens, the UI still freezes and VS still can't break the execution.   There are 10 threads to do the crawling, and one each to do the processing and the uploading. The next thing I did was take out the uploading entirely to remove the possiblity of a deadlock in the SqlClient libraries. No difference. So now, the only things that could be really deadlocking the main thread that I can see are the centrally created HTTPWebRequest objects I'm using. WebRequest.create is supposedly thread safe

Rare exception: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcib

Our .NET 2.0 app relies upon the ability to download xml webpages from URLs.  At startup, we have about 6 boxes in the wild (out of thousands) that are seeing the following inner exception when they try to download an xml page.  System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. (Inner: ) System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. They can get to the URL in their browser just fine, so we know our server is working.  Furthermore, the embedded WebBrowser control in our app can pull up webpages just fine, so I don't think their firewall is blocking our app.  I'm hoping it's just some diagnosible configuration issue.  Here is the snippet of code that does the downloading: WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create(fileToDownload.SourceUri);request.CachePolicy = new RequestCachePolicy(RequestCacheLevel.NoCacheNoStore);request.Timeout = (int)DefaultTimeout.TotalMilliseconds;request.Method = "HEAD";WebResponse response = request.GetResponse(); Nothing revolutionary there. (I've also tried it without the HEAD request, without keepalive, and using HTTP 1.0).  And here is the exception: System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. Using WCF unable to transfer bulk data in windows base application

Hi, I am testing bulk data transfer over WCF service and my project structure is as follows. Unable to create lists in upgraded web application

I can no longer create lists, sub webs or document libraries in a web application that I have upgraded from sharepoint 2007 to 2010. I dont think its directly related to the upgrade since it did work at some point.

When trying to create the list using addgallery.aspx the silverlight application will simply say that an unhandled exception has occurred with no further info.

In the log I have the following related log messages:

1)

Entering monitored scope (Request (POST:http://sharepoint2010:80/profil/_layouts/AddGallery.aspx))

2)

Detected use of SPRequest for previously closed SPWeb object.  Please close SPWeb objects when you are done with all objects obtained from them, but not before.  Stack trace:
