Handling the Same Event In More Than One Client

Posted By:      Posted Date: November 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Is it possible to handle the same event in more than one client without using Remoting or WCF?  In my test example I have 2 console apps and a class library all in the same solution.  The event lives in a Singleton class in the class library and both console apps have a reference to the dll and have handlers for the event.  I have the 2 console apps set as multiple startup projects; however the event appears to only be firing to the one that is "active".  If I could get confirmation on whether what I'm trying is not possible (or whether I'm going about it the wrong way) it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

-Dave

Adding client event handlers to an ASP.NET controls programmatically

Guys,

I want to add client event handlers to ASP.NET controls (For example: GridView/Button ) programmatically to ASP.NET.

I am aware of "onclick" event handler, so my code would be

GridView1.Attributes.Add("onclick", "JSGridViewFunction()");

Button1.Attributes.Add("onclick", "JSButtonFunction()");

I want to know what are all the event handlers that are available for (or that can be added to)  ASP.NET controls.

For example, I want to add "onsort" event handler to ASP.NET GridView control.

But the following code fails

GridView1.Attributes.Add("onsort", "JSGridViewFunction()");

Please help.

Thanks

WPF ComboBox Loaded Event - Handling Globally

Hello, I am having trouble hooking up to a WPF ComboBox Loaded event when trying to do it globally with EventManager.RegisterClassHandler in the parent control rather than with XAML right on the control.  Here is the code for the ComboBox control: <DataTemplate x:Key="MyUIEditor"> <ComboBox Width='Auto' x:Name="Combo" ItemsSource="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type local:MyControlWPG}}, Path=MyCollection}" SelectedValue="{Binding Value}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectedValuePath="FullName" Background="Transparent" /> </DataTemplate>   Here is the code for the global event handler:   public partial class MyControlWPG : UserControl public MyControlWPG() { InitializeComponent(); EventManager.RegisterClassHandler(typeof(ComboBox), ComboBox.LoadedEvent, new RoutedEventHandler(Combo_Loaded)); } The event handler gets hit when I declare Loaded = "Combo_Loaded" in the XAML right on the ComboBox control but not when I use the global handler.  Any ideas as to why it doesn't get hit when doing it this way?

Handling the DoubleClic Event on a GridviewRow.

TextBox AutoPostBack not working when handling other DHTML event

I have to format a number in a TextBox while it is being typed. Right after the TextBox looses focus, I need to do other processing on server side, including some database queries.

I'm doing the formatting by handling the onkeyup event, client side. But when I add the handler, the onTextChanged event stops firing on the server. I've tried different return values for the handler but unfortunatelly I'm stuck.

To reproduce the problem, here is a sample where the formatting function was replaced by a simple "convert to uppercase" function. You'll see that, contrary to the expected, the Label doesn't get filled when the TextBox looses focus. It does get filled, however, if the user presses the ENTER key.

What can I possibly be doing wrong with such a simple task?

Exception thrown when handling Window.Loaded event

Why is the exception assistant not "fired" in a debugging session when a Window.Loaded eventhandler calls code which throws an exception ?
E.g.

               new System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherUnhandledExceptionEventHandler(Current_DispatcherUnhandledException);
            int a = 1;
            int b = 0;
            int c = a / b;
        }

        void Current_DispatcherUnhandledException(object sender, System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherUnhandledExceptionEventArgs e)
        {
        }

Removing the comment signs (//) thus presenting an UnhandledException handler devinately makes the assistant "firing".
Is this behaviour by desi

System.ComponentModel.PropertyChangedEventHandler not handling the event

Hi,

I'm working in a wpf app that is binding controls to a class that implements INotifyPropertyChanged. I'm trying to track when there are changes to the underlying object by setting a flag whenever a property is changed. To do so, I wired up an event handler to the PropertyChanged event of the class like so:

_facilityLogic.PropertyChanged += new System.ComponentModel.PropertyChangedEventHandler(facilityLogic_PropertyChanged);

...

public void facilityLogic_PropertyChanged(object sender, System.ComponentModel.PropertyChangedEventArgs e)
{
  SetIsChanged();
}
Can anyone tell me why this event handler never gets called? The event is firing, but SetIsChanged() never gets called.

Accordion pane client click event

Notify jquery from server (trigger an asynchronous client side event from the server).

Hello,

I want to have a code that would establish connection from the server to the jQuery client, to update the front page of the website, when some new data is added to the DB. I of course could have an ajax call from the client on every second to check up the database for any changes, but I am just wondering if there is any way to establish a connection from the server side to the client.

The perfect solution would work like that:

- when the page is open, the client registers itself on the server for changes

- the server (knowing all the registered clients) prompts all of them when a change is done

- if any of the clients does not respond, the server removes the client from the registered list

- clients, update the page contents with the new data from the server

The question is if it is possible? Again, I could make all the clients reconnect to the server every second using ajax, however, this does not seem like a clean solution, and additionally it would put an unnecessary load on the server (e.q. 100 clients requesting update every second).

Thanks in advance,

Jozef A. Habdank

Finding accordion pane client event

I have problem with accordion pane client side events and found this solutions on old posts:

function accSelectedChange(sender, eventArgs) {

if (eventArgs.get_propertyName() == "SelectedIndex")

{

alert(sender.get_ClientState());

}

}

function pageLoad() {

$object('accObjekt_AccordionProperties').propertyChanged.add(accSelectedChange);

}

The reason that it doesn't work is because the Accordion control is actually a wrapper for the AccordionExtender, so the ClientID of the element is not the same thing as the ClientID of the behavior. Unfortunately, the ClientID of the underlying Extender is not exposed through the Accordion class, but you can obtain its value by appending _AccordionExtender to the ClientID like so:
ClientScript.RegisterArrayDeclaration("arrAccordionBehaviors", "&#

how to add a Event Handling in Windows SharePoint Services

Hi all,

   how to add a Event Handling In Share Point  for particular document library or list.

    actually i saw one article for restrict the deletion  i tried that article,

   i created one class library in that i added one class and two xml files(elements.xml and    feature.xml).

Code are give Below.

class file

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Text;
using Microsoft.SharePoint;

namespace EventHandlerExample1
{
  public class CancelAnnouncementDeleteHandler : SPItemEventReceiver
  {
    public override void ItemDeleting(SPItemEventProperties properties)

ASP.NET validation controls are removing client event handlers.

 Below is a tiny section of code to highlight a problem that I am currently having. The textbox has an onblur event (the workings of the onblur event are irrelevant), and an associated RequiredFieldValidator. This code functions exactly as it should. However, if in the body onload event I simply raise an alert of the innerHTML of tr1 or td1, the onblur event does not appear (but it does work, and can be seen when I view source in IE7). If I remove the RequiredFieldValidator, the onblur event handler is shown in the alert, or if I retain the validator but change onblur to onfocus, then the event handler also appears in the alert. I need this to work as when the user increases the Quantity, duplicates of the table row are added (I have tried both cloneNode, and setting the innerHTML of each new table cell to that of the original, but as my alert proves, the onblur event handler is not included in what is copied). The same problem also occurs with onchange for select tags with validators. I am using Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 2), IE7 and IIS 7.

<tr id="tr1" />
  <td id="td1" />Quantity <input id="txtQuantity" onblur="fnBlur(this)" type="text" maxlength="2" value="1" runat="server" />
 <asp:RequiredFieldValidator id="reqQuantity"
