Using the generic type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable' requires '1' type arguments

Posted By:      Posted Date: November 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi,

I'm trying to create a control out of a class I found, and one of the overridden functions is the following:

protected override void PerformDataBinding(IEnumerable data)

However, when I try to build the control I'm getting the error as shown in the subject. I've tried searching, and it seems the signature for the original function matches the one I have, and all other solutions I've seen uses the same signature.

Anyone able to help out?

Need Syntax To Make Results of LINQ Union Return Non-Generic Type

Hi.

I have the below SQL which works just fine:

SELECT     Message, CreateDate, AccountId, AlertTypeId
FROM       dbo.Alerts
UNION
SELECT     TOP (100) PERCENT Status, CreateDate, AccountId,
                          (SELECT     10 AS Expr1) AS AlertTypeId
FROM         dbo.StatusUpdates
WHERE AccountId = PassedInParameter
ORDER BY CreateDate DESC

I have been going about trying to convert the above into a LINQ method and am having problems with return types.
As the above SQL illustrates, I am querying two distinct LINQ tables - Alerts and StatusUpdates -
and then attempting to perform a Union on them. In order to do the union in LINQ, I have to have agreeing types. So, I
am using "var" to make the results of "alerts" and "updates" generic before the union.

public IList GetStatusUpdatesAsAlertsByAccountId<T>(Int32 accountId)
        {
            using (WorkbookDataContext dc = _conn.GetCont

How can I access a Type with generic parameter in XAML

Accessing Generic Type in XAML

Hello, How can I access a Type with generic parameter in XAML. class SampleClass<T> { } now in XAML: i want to access xmlns:local="Ref to SampleClass" How it will create the instance of SampleClass<T>?

Use a generic type parameter with a GetBody<>

I have a generic messaging system which can pass any type of message around.  I have put the type of object in the Message Header so that I know when I receive it what type I need.  Is there any way to take the string that contains the name of the type and use that in the MessageReceived.GetBody<>. It would be nnice to be able to do that instead of a messy if else checking the string to know message types and then hard coding the Type in the GetBody.   Thanks in advance    needbrew

svcutil /metadata - how to export metadata for service contract that has generic type

Hi,

I am using svcutil /metadata to get metadata for a WCF service project assembly, the service class implements the IChildServiceContract below, and the IChildServiceContract interface implements a base interface which accept a generic type.

public interface IChildServiceContract : IServiceBaseContract<string>

I can generate metadata for IChildServiceContract , I am curious and also want to try generate meta data for base interface, an error come up which seems have problem with the generic based contract:

There was an error exporting the contract loaded from the type: xxx.xxx.xxx.IServiceBaseContract`1

Is it possible to generate metadata in this situation?

Thanks in advanced

System.Collections.Concurrent vs. System.Collections.Generic.SynchronizedCollection

I'm confused why there is a "thread safe" collection in Collections.Generic.SynchronizedCollection and an entire namespace devoted to concurrent collections.   What is the difference?

Generic type in AncestorType

Hi,

I have a UserControl with some Labels and a ListBox as its children. I want do fill that ListBox via Binding to a derived generic dependency property of the UserControl:

x:TypeArguments="owl:IClass"

xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"

System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPerm

Good Day all,

Having an issue with an outside user accessing my IIS7 box. I do not have this problem when running the website from my host machine. I found this post: Http://forums.asp.net/t/1371394.aspx. I assure you that this is not a solution because I am not storing any of my files on a network share.

What do you think my approach should be.

I already have read rights to IIS user to my BIN folder.

Thanks for the help.

The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must

Hi,

This is frustrating, and I don't know how to solve it.

I have a strange problem. I am adding a LinqDatasource object, and set the context:

        protected void LinqDataSource_ContextCreating(object sender, LinqDataSourceContextEventArgs e)
        {
            e.ObjectInstance = new KaruselaDataContext(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString);
        }

Then I get this error:
The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

On web.config I already have this:
<add assembly="System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/>

NOTE: The datacontext is in a different project (DLL proect) where I added a refernce to System.Data.Linq.

is there another way adding a refernce to a web project? or only though teh web.config?

Thanks.

Types in Yukon: Managed UDTs Let You Extend the SQL Server Type System

The next version of SQL Server, code-named "Yukon," will offer enhanced support for user-defined types (UDTs). Because UDTs can be managed by the CLR, you can represent a wide variety of data structures to create types not possible with previous versions of SQL Server. With UDTs you can more precisely control the kind of data your type accepts, resulting in better data management. This article explores UDTs in "Yukon" and covers their design and implementation.
