How to retrieve data from SqlDataSource and pass to a variable?

Hi there,

I have a page in my website where there is very little code-behind. I only have two lines of code in Page_Load() and the rest of the code is declarative ASP.NET code. I have a FormView control which uses a SqlDataSource to get some order information. The SqlDataSource calls a stored procedure called usp_GetOrderDetails, here's the code for the SqlDataSource:

    <asp:SqlDataSource ID="sdsFormOrderDetails" runat="server"
ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ForexDB %>"
ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ForexDB.ProviderName %>"
SelectCommand="usp_GetOrderDetails" SelectCommandType="StoredProcedure"
UpdateCommand="usp_UpdateOrder" UpdateCommandType="StoredProcedure"
>
<SelectParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter Name="orderId" ControlID="grdOrders" PropertyName="SelectedDataKey.Value" />
</SelectParameters>
<UpdateParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter Name="orderId" ControlID="frmOrderDetails" PropertyName="SelectedValue" />
</UpdateParameters>
</asp:SqlDataSource>

server side does not save data when using POST data to another URL using WebRequest

Hi,
 I am using a IIS 7.5 on Windows 7. I have a simple application that uses System.Net.WebRequest to POST data to another URL (in fact, the server side URL is on my local computer and it is hosted in IIS 7.5).

  1.  The problem is the server does not save data from client although on the client side codes when I debug and I see the OK message return from the code line

   response.StatusDescription; // this has value of "OK"

2. How can I debug the server code side where to receive the request from client side who posts the data ?

The following is the codes for client who posts data using System.Net.WebRequest, and codes for server side who received posted data to save to database.

Client side codes: // also run on my local computer

public string PostIntegrationXml(XmlDocument xmlSubmitDoc)

        {

Know Thy Code: Simplify Data Layer Unit Testing using Enterprise Services

If you want to employ unit testing and test-driven development techniques in your database application development process, you'll have different factors to consider than you do when you're not involving a database. For example, you have to maintain a consistent state within the database and be able to roll back transactions when necessary. This article shows you how to get the best of unit testing for your database apps in a safe, usable manner.

Trustworthy Code: Exchange Data More Securely with XML Signatures and Encryption

You can sign any kind of data using XML Signature, including part of an XML document, other XML documents, or other data of any format. However, in practice, XML signatures are most frequently used to sign other data represented in XML. In this article, the authors discuss the new standard and how you can benefit from it in your apps.

Data: More Load, Less Code with the Data Enhancements of ASP.NET 2.0

A data source control is a server control that wraps some basic functions of a data source - be it a SQL Server database, an XML document, an Excel worksheet, or a sitemap description. Through the services of a similar component, data-bound controls can fetch data as well as insert new records or update and delete existing ones. Data source controls enable a consistent model across a variety of data sources and dramatically reduce the amount of code needed to implement a two-way data-binding scenario. This article provides an introduction to data source controls and other related data binding features.

How to Post Code To Your Blog and other Religious Arguments

If you've got a programming blog, chances are you'll want to post some code snippets. Posting code sounds easy but it's surprisingly tricky if you consider all the ways that people will be reading your blog. There's a number of ways. Here's a few and their pros and cons . Copy Paste from your IDE (like Visual Studio, for example) If I copy paste directly from VS into my editor of choice, Windows Live Writer, I'll get a <pre> section. using System; namespace WindowsGame1 { #if WINDOWS || XBOX     static class Program     {         /// <summary>         /// The main entry point for the application.        ...(read more)

problem...i want a list item to populate all data in gridview!!!

i have a dropdownbox and a gridview

what I want is to have a list item which populates all data in a gridview.

I have tried using list item selected value=0 but to no avail.

what is the easiest way to achieve this?

Disable filtering on a Dynamic Data list view.

I have an entity set of NotificationTemplates, and each one of these has a collection of zero-many SmsTemplate entities. When editing or viewing a NotificationTemplate, I have a link to View SMS Templates. That link takes me to a List view for the SmsTemplates entity set, filtered for the NotificationTemplate I was viewing.

How can I prevent the user changing this filter to show SmsTemplates for another NotificationTemplate? That is, I want the filter, but it must be read only. The drop-down just mustn't drop down, it must just display the name of the NotificationTemplate that these SmsTemplates belong to. To view SmsTemplates for another NotificationTemplate, the user must click View SMS Templates from that other template.

Trying to run a stored procedure from vb code with oracle data provider.

Hello,

Here is my SP:

create or replace
PROCEDURE ZGETUSERSSIGNONS (vUid IN VARCHAR2, p_getuserssignon_recordset1 OUT SYS_REFCURSOR) AS
BEGIN
 Open p_getuserssignon_recordset1 for
 SELECT Distinct(Userid), UserPassword, SecurityLevel, ActiveStatus
FROM ZSIGNON
WHERE substr(UserId,1,2) <> vUid
Order By UserId;
END ZGETUSERSSIGNONS;

I would like to run this SP from code and fill a gridview with the result.

I am not sure how to go about this, as I have found several different examples, other than the one I  think I need.

I am using the oracle data provider and I have an input parameter (vUid, which will equal "zz").

First question. When filling a gridview with a result set from a stored procedure should the recordset OUT be defined as a REFCURSOR (like i did above)?

Second:

Do you have example code as to how to execute the SP and fill a gridview?  I keep trying different variations of code i've found on the internet without any success other than getting more confused.

(I am using VS 2005, VB).

Thank you.

When I use 'publish', site doesn't work when i post data

Arrgghh, I am so tired of dealing with stuff like this

I've got a project, when I put up on another server I point two sites in IIS6 to it

i have

http://www.main.com  pointing to the folder the files are in

and

http://www.anotherofoursites.com/main pointing to that same folder in it's own "Virtual Application" or whatever IIS calls it when you put a folder into it's own

If I just "Build" and push all the files up.. both work without issue and as expected...  but when I use "Publish" to precompile, the site works until I post, and then i get nailed with:

Server Error in '/' Application.
