SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition Install fail due to .NET Framework 3.5 missing

Posted By:      Posted Date: November 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition on my laptop.  I already have VS 2008 SP1 installed and the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed on my machine.  When I run setup.exe, it fails saying the .NET Framework 3.5 installation failed and that .NET Framework 3.5 is required for the installation.  I obviously have this already on my machine.  What's the problem and how do I get this to install?  Below is the text in my SqlSetup.log file:

I just purchased Windows 7 Professional  for installation on an Intel 64-bit laptop. I planned on purchasing SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition but noticed that Windows 7 Professional is missing on the requirements list.

I was hoping someone here could verify that SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition will install on the OS mentioned above.

Here's the requirements page I was viewing:

In order to protect the database crash (database failure), we plan to backup SQL compact database during running. Can we backup or duplicate the ~.sdf when application is running? How to install Sql server 2008 Enterprise edition in windows 7 (32 bit system)

am install Sql server 2008 SP1 But same Problem again Plz Give me Reply Plzzzzzzzzzz Which edition Support in windows 7?

Tried everything, cannot install SQL Server 2008 Developer on Windows 7 Professional

I have a legal, purchased copy of Windows 7 on my X86 computer. I have downloaded through my university a copy of SQL Server 2008 (through MSDNAA). I have tried every single post for four days to no avail to get this installed, and it is crucial for my SQL class (obviously).

Everything I do leads to ".NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installation failed. .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 must be installed."
To my understanding, .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is installed by default in Windows 7. This is confirmed by the lack of installer on Microsoft websites for Windows 7, the ability to install other software such as Google Chrome that requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, and the availability of .NET Framework 3.5.1 in the Windows Programs and Features.

I have tried installing SQL Server 2008 SP1, which installed successfully, as recommended by Microsoft and then running the setup program using the /PCUSource=c:\SP1 method to have it recognize the SP1, to no avail.

I made sure that all features of .NET Framework 3.5.1 were enabled in Windows Programs and Features.

Windows 7 is completely up to date.

I have tried installing Visual Studio 2008 (which successfully installed), but SQL Server would not install afterwards.

Can't install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition x64 from Command Line

I can't get R2 Express (x64) installed from the command line... x86 using this same command line works fine, just x64 is broken.

Using this:

Everytime it fails with:

Additional messages in the SQL Server error log and system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe system-level error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB). This machine had sql server 2008 installed.  I removed it since the upgrade would not work.   The machine currently doesn't have any sql installs.    The error fails during the Setup Support Files step.    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.  I've included last part of file since you can only include 60k chars here.

Where to purchase SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition

I purchased SQL Server 2008 a couple of years ago and would now like to purchase the R2 edition for my own training and research at home.  Where can I purchase?  I tried the Microsoft Store Online a few weeks ago and received the old 2008 version in the mail.  I called thier customer service area and they had no information on R2 Developer edition.  I do not want to go the Express route unless I really have to.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

MS SQL 2008 SBS install fails on Server 2008 R2 Standard edition

According to edition requirement (http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2009/03/23/requirements-for-installing-sql-2008-standard-edition-for-small-business.aspx), I thought I met the requirements but this link tells me not only I need both the standard edition AND in a domain??  I have Windows 2008 Standard R2 edition.

This is a standalone server and there's no domain.  I can promote it to be a domain controller but don't want that.  Is it the "R2" part that its failing.  I can downgrade to the non-R2 with SP2.  (Windows Server 2008 with sp2).

How to purchase SQL Server 2008 Developer edition R2

Has anyone figured out how to buy a SQL 2008 developer license online? I simply need the key.

I've created an instance on Amazon's EC2 Service, and downloaded and installed SQL Server 2008 180 day trial.

I am working on a demo project, and am concerned that I may lose my work. How can I buy a developer license and upgrade my trial version of SQL 2008 to developer? Does Microsoft have a store where I can purchase a single license? Do I have to go through a reseller?

Thanks
