Include a Crystal Report in .NET Web Service for Dynamic In-Memory-Only DataSet

I would like to use Crystal Reports in a .NET web service.  Ultimately I would like to convert my report document to a PDF and then return the PDF as a byte array.

My .NET DataSet is generated dynamically at run-time.  It consists of four related tables.  Since my DataSet does not have a physical datasource, I created an XML Schema file.  I then added the XML Schema file to the web service project with Add Existing Item.

A solution for working with a dynamic in-memory DataSet exists for ASP.NET web sites and client-based forms.  I tried to use this method as it is published.  When that didn't work I tried creating the report and XML Schema directly in the web service project, but that also didn't work.

The problem is apparent when you try to set the datasource.......the code bombs on the call to SetDataSource(DataSet) with the message
ex = {"The data source object is invalid."}

Crystal Reports would save me a lot

Site Collection Usage Report Include Outlook?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if the Site Collection Usage Report includes activity that occurs from Outlook? For example, if a user contributes to a discussion board without ever physically touching the site or if the user just reads list content from Outlook, is this included?

ANY help at all is greatly appreciated.

stsadm Import command + include user security

When I move sites from test to staging to production, I am using the stsadm –o export command with the –includeusersecurity option in the staging environment.  In production environment, I then use the stsadm –o import command with the –includeusersecurity option.  I was assuming that this option was bringing over the security on the exported site only.  This does not seem to be the case.

Last night I exported one sub site to produtction.  Today, I was notified that the security groups on other sub sites have been altered.

So why is it when using the –includeusersecurity option effect all sub sites and not just the one sub site being moved from staging to production

EF4/Linq Eager Loading with Include fails to populate all results

Hi, I'm trying out EF4 as part of a .Net 4.0 WCF service. The aim of the service is to return document data as an array of entity objects to any of our ASP.Net apps. The apps are still in .Net 2.0. Due to the nature of the solution I've disabled LazyLoading at context level. I started with this:var revQuery = from revs in context.DocRevision                         where (revs.ID == myIDVar)                         select revs;  Everything works ok, I receive the correct number of populated objects. However when I add an Include into my query to allow us to pickup fields from a related table that has a defined navigation only the first record is returned fully populated to a calling application:var revQuery = from revs in context.DocRevision.Include("StaffNames")                         where (revs.ID == myIDVar)                         select revs;  The array is the correct size but all elements after the first are blank, default placeholders. Its like using the Include has reverted to LazyLoading and I can't seem to kick it into line. Anyone else had this problem?

Should DR testing include DBCC CheckDB

We have EMC storage and use SRDFa to replicate production data to another location.  In the coming weeks we'll be doing some DR testing that will involve interrupting replication, then mounting the 'DR' storage on our staging servers.  I'll attach the databases and testing will begin.  I'm wondering if standard practice should include running DBCC CheckDB against the 'recovered' databases before turning them over to the users. [We're running SQL 2005 SP2 Enterprise (64-bit) on a 6 node Active-Passive cluster.  The OS is Win 2003.]

How Do I Not Include: myControl.GetType.GetProperty("Text") When No Property Window Setting?

Hi All, Posted below is code I'm using to generate a list of controls that have either a "Text" or "Caption" property. However, for certain controls in the resulting list, the property setting (Text/Caption) does not appear in the "Property Window" of the IDE when that control is selected. One example of this is the Systems.Windows.Forms.PictureBox control. Is there a way I can determine this and if so - how do I exclude these control(s) from my list?     Private Sub cmdValidateControls_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdValidateControls.Click         txtResults.Clear()         For Each ctrl As Object In Me.Controls             LogControl(ctrl)         Next     End Sub     Private Sub LogControl(ByVal ctrlIn As Object)         If System.Diagnostics.Debugger.IsAttached Then             If (Not ctrlIn.GetType.GetProperty("Text") Is Nothing) Or (Not ctrlIn.GetType.GetProperty("Caption") Is Nothing) Then                 txtRes

Including project output does not include web forms

I have an VS 2010 ASP.NET application that I am trying to deploy.I added a Web Setup Project to the solution, and then went to "Add > Project Output" and selected my application. So far so good.The problem is that when I run this installer, the only files that appear in my Inetpub folder are the compiled application dll's. So I cannot browse the website, unless I manually go to the setup project, and include each file in the setup.How can I get the Microsoft Web Setup Project to include the web forms, and not just the project dll?

Trying to include version history table inside Word document

Running MOSS 2007 with SP1, Office 2007.   I'm trying to create a table (doesn't have to be a table though) of a document's version history inside the document. This would be the history information kept by SharePoint. Since we can't even easily get just the current version number into the document I'm having problems and thought I'd see if anybody has a bright idea.   First, a couple facts. From Word 2007 it is possible to view the Document Library version information by clicking on the Office Button > Server > View Version History. This brings up the following: Click for screenshot   My goal is to get that version information displayed IN the document so when it is printed there is a document history. I tried using IRM label policies, but this only displays the current version and you can't include the comments.   After some digging I found the following code sample on MSDN:   Code SnippetDim dlvVersions As Office.DocumentLibraryVersions    Dim dlvVersion As Office.DocumentLibraryVersion    Dim strVersionInfo As String    Set dlvVersions = ActiveDocument.DocumentLibraryVersions    If dlvVersions.IsVersioningEnabled Then        strVersionInfo = "This document has " & dlvVersions.Count & " versions: " & vbCrLf        For Each dlvVersion In dlvVersions            strVersionInfo = strVersionInfo & _                " - Versi

How can i load a list of items and preload some properties op a lookupvalue column? See this sample. I want to load Company.CompanyWebsite property (companywebsite is a property of the Company custom list) var camlQuery = new SP.CamlQuery(); var q = '<View></View>'; camlQuery.set_viewXml(q); this.listItems = list.getItems(camlQuery); this.SPContext.load(listItems, 'Include(Title,Author,Company.CompanyWebsite)'); this.SPContext.executeQueryAsync(Function.createDelegate(this, this.onListItemsLoadSuccess), Function.createDelegate(this, this.onQueryFailed));

Using the IncludeWithDefaultProperties or Include method

Hey, I'm creating an application (WPF) for synching my test SharePoint environment with my production SharePoint environment. In my function to retrieve all files in a Document Library, I can't use the methods IncludeWithDefaultProperties or Include, since they are simply not available! Here's my code: Imports SP = Microsoft.SharePoint.Client Private Function GetListItemCollectionFromSP(ByVal sSite As String, ByVal sList As String) As SP.ListItemCollection Dim siteURL As String = sSite Dim documentListName As String = sList Dim listItems As SP.ListItemCollection = Nothing Try Dim clientContext As New SP.ClientContext(siteURL) Dim oWebsite As SP.Web = clientContext.Web Dim collList As SP.ListCollection = oWebsite.Lists Dim oList As SP.List = collList.GetByTitle(documentListName) Dim camlQuery As New SP.CamlQuery() Dim collListItem As SP.ListItemCollection = oList.GetItems(camlQuery) clientContext.Load(collListItem, Function(items) items.Include(Function(item) item.DisplayName)) 'Or: clientContext.Load(collListItem, Function(items) items.IncludeWithDefaultProperties(Function(item) item.DisplayName)) clientContext.ExecuteQuery() Return collListItem Catch ex As Exception ReportError(ex.Message, GetCurrentMethod.Name) End Try Return listItems End Function This gives me the
