Iterate through rows of dataset in report's custom code

Hello, How can I iterate through the rows of a dataset in the custom code? I have a report containing a dataset. I pass the dataset as a parameter to the custom code function. But what then? Where is a reference about the available members etc.? Here is my dummy sample code so far: Public Function ShowParameterValues(ByVal ds as DataSet) as object() Dim codes() As Object Array.Resize(codes,dc.???.Count) codes(0)=ds??(field???)(row??) return codes End Function As the task I want to accomplish is very simple, I want to keep it in the custom code instead of writing any custom assemblies etc.   Thank you!

Count of fact rows not being displayed correctly

I have the most generic measure - count of rows from the fact table. When I query the underlying fact table, example...select count(Primary_key) , I get accurate results. Also, I see my partition has exact same count for the rows. But, when I process the cube and view the same measure in the browser it shows less than the actual count . I never had this problem before. What could I be missing? I would appreciate your suggestions.   Rok

Count how many rows are returned from a stored procedure

Hi,   I have written a stored procedure for my database which takes two varchar parameters and returns lots of rows of data. This data will be passed back to my .NET application with a reader for parsing.   Imagine this scenario of calling a stored procedure:   MyDatabase.dbo.sp_MyStoredProcedure 'String 1', 'String 2'   Let's say that this command returns 12,434 rows of data when executed in SQL Server Management Studio Express containing the data of 5 joined tables which contains 2 or 3 unions (depending on the input of 'String 2') and the data within each union is correctly sorted.   How do I get a row count from the execution of the above stored procedure command? I need to pass this back to my application for the progress bar to function correctly.   I don't want to replicate the function and modify it for counting rows because the stored procedure consists of approximately 150 lines of SQL code.   Thanks in advance.   Sean

Why does reporting services always fails to update dataset rows?

Greetings I am working on a project, i must provide reports via Reporting Services. 2008. Problem is, it is for some reason almost always falsely declaring my query as a bad one (must declare something that IS declared, or wrong use of operator minus when its NOT wrong).  For example, i have a query with parameters @sd and @ed (start date and end date). I intend to let user set @ed to null, in that case, the month of @sd is used. So, first lines of query look like this: IF (@ED IS NULL) BEGIN SET @sd=DATEADD(dd,1-(DAY(@sd)),@sd); SET @ed=DATEADD(dd,-(DAY(DATEADD(mm,1,@sd))),DATEADD(mm,1,@sd)); END   And then it fails to see that @sd is a parameter, instead it spits like 5 times "must declare @sd" and refuses to refresh list of rows. Same happens with other queries. For example, i keep getting the "Operand data type nvarchar is invalid for minus operator" on a 100% correct query. And with others. Those are 100% legit, work in sql management studio as well as they work after i click "continue" at error message and compile a report.   So far this seems like a major bug to me. Or am i doing something wrong?

Count of Rows - Records between month - T-SQL 2005

Hi Below is my Scenario.

Record                       Start Date                           END Date

  2                             01/25/2008                           06/19/2009

Count gives me the same answer regardless of the number of rows

I always get a result of zero from the following code sequence even as the row count changes and I just do not see what the error in my syntax is.

MDX, count of rows with non empty measure

I have a fact table with 8 measures that aren't always all available. I'd like to aggregate them with AVG() so I tried to create a calculated member:
where I1 is the measure (aggregated by sum) and #Indexes is a count of rows automatically created by SSAS. But obviously the #Indexes includes all rows, also the ones with empty measures.

M1   M2 ...
null   5
10    6

I have to have 10 as AVG rollup of M1 in this small table and now I'm getting 5.

how could I solve this?

Adding rows to a databound DataSet/DataTable from a ThreadPool thread does not update UI

I have an WPF .NET 4.0 application which creates a TreeView in the main thread, and databinds it to a DataSet which contains two DataTables. The datatables have a simple relationship between them which represents a two-level tree. When the treeview is initially drawn, it correctly displays all items from the two datatables as a two level tree.

When the DataTables are updated from the UI thread (add/delete/modify a row), the treeview is refreshed and the changes to the databound DataSet DataTables are visible in the treeview.

If changes to the DataTables are made from a ThreadPool thread, no exceptions are thrown, but the UI is not updated. I am using a threadpool thread because the changes will be initiated from multiple network devices and processing their data is fairly CPU intensive.

I am assuming that change notifications are not being propogated across threads for DataSets/DataTables.  Is this assumption correct? If so, are their recommended best practices to overcome this limitation?

Dataset has one field, populate a table 2 columns wide n rows deep

A dataset returns a single field of child names, instead of presenting this as a single column table, I would like it to be multi column.

Dataset returns:

I would like to display it as:

Child3 Child4

GridView1.Rows.Count multiply by ten?

 I am displaying the below:

C# code behind

CCount.Text = GridView1.Rows.Count.ToString();

I need to multiply the GridView1 count by 10 and display in C10Count.Text

C10Count.Text = Convert.ToString( GridView1.Rows.Count  * 10 )

What is the proper syntax please?

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

jQuery: Highlight Gridview Rows with Checkbox

Im learning and experimenting with jQuery and ASP.NET. Below is a simple solution I created to highlight rows in a gridview by clicking on a checkbox next to the row.

Gridview setup:

Highlighting Rows with TextBox OnFocus

In another article I explained that how you can make the rows of the GridView control clickable and highlight them when they are clicked. In this article I will explain that how you can highlight the GridView rows when you focus on the TextBox which is contained inside the GridView control.
