Login failed for user (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

Hello
I have a dedicated server, which runs windows server 2003 web edition. I access the server using remote desktop. I have installed sqlserver express 2005 on the server, along with management studio express. I have problem running the sql script that would install the database. It says that remote connection is disabled by default on sql express 2005. So this is what I did ( as suggested by this article: http://www.datamasker.com/SSE2005_NetworkCfg.htm):
Enable the TCP/IP protocol using the Surface Area Configuration Utility
Make sure the TCP/IP protocol is enabled in the SQL Server Configuration Utility
Make sure the SQL Server browser is started.
Make sure SQL Server and SQL Server Browser are exempted by the firewall on the server machine. sqlservr.exe and sqlbrowser.exe as an exception in the windows firewall

Still no success. Reading various articles on internet, a few suggested i should grant access to certain user by running the following command
osql -E -S %SERVER%\%INSTANCE% -Q "sp_grantlogin 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'"

The problem is that i keep getting the error login failed, even when i try to connect to the sqlserver using management studio. When I use remote desktop it logins as administrator.
Can someone please

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Bulk load data was expected but not sent

Hi everyone We've had this error twice now from our C# code. Nothing is changing the columns, but I've noticed though that it appears to happen when two threads are attempting to bulk insert into the same table, generally millions of rows. The docs say that SqlBulkCopy.WriteToServer is not guaranteed to be thread-safe, but is this the problem here? It feels like it. I've seen some posts where people appeared to have experienced problems in similar circumstances (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqldatabaseengine/thread/85d51484-6381-46bc-bcce-63b58b362d2d). There is no identity column just a non-unique clustered index that is (spid) process keyed to each thread. Do I need to synchronise access to the table for WriteToServer - is this a known problem? Many thanks Reg --- System.Data.SqlClient. Login failed for user: Reason:Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure err

Hi,

I have installed a named instance of SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64 bit on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64 bit. The os is running as a VM ware virtual machine.

I have created an AD security group for database engine sys admins on that machine. I added my user to that group.So for example;

domainname\machinename_SQL_DBE_SysADmins is a user with SysAdmin server role permissions. User domainname\MichaelEFF is a member of this group.

When I log onto the machine as this user and run the management studio with run as administrator I cannot log into the database engine. The log shows the error:

Login failed for user: Reason:Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error

I've read many posts where the MVP says that the UAC is not passing the group membership. Is this the case? If so then how will role based access ever be possible with windows authentication? How can this be resolved?

Thanks!

Michael

An exception of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException' occurred and was caught

When the Stored procedure is executed through SQL Server Management Studio, its taking 23 seconds

When the same Stored proc is called through web app, its throwing below copied exception. It is noticed that when the data is more than 100k records this exception is thrown other wise expected records are shown in UI. Another stored proc from the same app returns over 150k records without any excetpion.

Can't conclude that the exception is in Stored proc, because it works from SQL Server Management studio, but throws below exception from Web app.

Your help is appreciated in resolving this issue.

Setup a login account for system backup, but now allow accessing data

Dear All,

My problem seem quite contradiction. Not sure it's possible to do. My question is we used a symmatic software to backup our SQL databases. It require an admin right SQL user account to perform it. However some of database is quite sensitive e.g HR data. I don't want to let the IT staff to make use of this privilege to read the data. Is there any solution on this?

Hi,

When I run a program, it pop this error :"System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Implicit conversion from data type ntext to varchar is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query."

So, I run the stored procedure in Query Analyzer, it don't have problem, result is showing as expected.

What cause this happen?
