ajax setting in web.config httpHandlers

 I'm using an autocomplete contol of ajax toolkit. Yesterday a user found that it had stopped working (it wasn't generating the list as you type letters in the textbox). After hours of troubleshooting, I found that in web.config <httpHandlers>, this line -- <remove verb="*" path="*.asmx" /> was placed after the <add> line like this:

<httpHandlers>
    <add verb="*" path="*.asmx" validate="false" type="System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/>
    <add verb="*" path="*_AppService.axd" validate="false" type="System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/>
    <add verb="GET,HEAD" path="ScriptResource.axd" type="System.Web.Handlers.ScriptResourceHandler, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" validate="false"/>
    <remove verb="*" path="*.asmx"/>
</httpHandlers>

I fixed the problem by removing the <remove> line, but it seem

Setting size of Grid Since Ajax Resizer Changed It

I'm sure that wasn't a very good subject, but I couldn't think of a better one. What I have is a page that has an UpdatePanel on it with a GridView control in it. It was originally displaying at a particular height and width according to the CSS style I have setup for it in my style sheet. However, since adding an AJAX Resizer control to the UpdatePanel, it is now defaulting to a much smaller size.

How do I get the grid to default to that same height and width that is in its CSS class? I don't mind putting it in the ASPX page or whatever, just need the grid to default to a larger size than the small little box it defaults to since adding the AJAX resizer.

Setting maxItemsInObjectGraph in a WCF REST config file???

Hi All, I am trying to create a new WCF Rest service. I used the online VS2010 WCF REST 4.0 template as a base. I have a service up and running and have been testing it using IE/Firefox (currently it is a read only API, so I have no need to post anything back to the service). I have an issue when the number of items being returned is too large, IE give me a "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" I turned on tracing and was able to confirm the issue is with the maxItemsInObjectGraph property (defaults to 65536) <Message>Maximum number of items that can be serialized or deserialized in an object graph is '65536'. Change the object graph or increase the MaxItemsInObjectGraph quota. </Message> Using the defualt WCF Web.config file I have no clue how to set this value as it doesnt seem like a standardEndpoint can have this value set, or have a custom binding or behaviour assigned to them (at least I don't know how to set them). Here is the default web.config file the template created. Does anyone know how i can update/increase the maxItemsInObjectGraph property?      <system.serviceModel>    <diagnostics>      <endToEndTracing propagateActivity="true" activityTracing="true"   &nb

AJAX enabling web.config

Hi, I've recently noticed that to enable AJAX on sharepoint, all I had to do was add the following httpHandlers entry.  What's going on here?  I thought you had to add a whole bunch of config sections and other things, but this one does the trick.  The only AJAX control I'm using is a telerik control, could that be why this works for me?

<add verb="GET,HEAD" path="ScriptResource.axd" type="System.Web.Handlers.ScriptResourceHandler, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" validate="false" />

Get a changed Setting from the app.exe.config

I've got settings that I use in my app (paths, etc - My.Settings.whatever), but with the app. config file, the user can change them.

I'd like to get one or more of the changed settings and put them in a log file.....

How can I retrieve the changed setting?

property setting in report server (2008) config file is not working as expected.

Hi,

I have set the <WorkingSetMinimum> property to 2.4GB in my reportserver 2008 config file.

By defintion, <WorkingSetMinimum> setting means,

  1. Lower limit of service memory consumption; memory will not be released if the consumption is below this amount, though the service will not reserve the designated amount of memory when it starts.
  2. If service uses more than the designated amout of memory, it will release back the memory only till this declared value and not beyond that, which means it should keep 2.4GB as designated.

See this link for definition: http://books.google.com/books?id=mzY_Xo_9J-gC&pg=PA589&lpg=PA589&dq=What+is+%3Cworkingsetminimum%3E+in+report+server+configuration+file&source=bl&ots=r_xhRp8erj&sig=E_o0-Dh2SXOgMNrW3sptt5oZrYI&hl=en&ei=f5mjTNeNM5O8ccmErJMI&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CCAQ6AEwAw#

Web.Config (Tag ) help

Can any one help with protecting files and sub-folder?
I have a window web hosting with framework 2.0/3.5 laid-out as follow

/root = www.mydomain.com

this has its own web.config

Setting the page theme outside of the web.config

Hi

I'm using a flash app to upload images (EAFlashUpload - http://www.easyalgo.com/eaflashupload.aspx) which works great, but there's a problem.

For reasons beyond my understanding, if a theme (page theme = "white") is declared in the web.config, it doesn't work correctly; even if there is nothing in the theme folder at all! Oddly though, it's happy if the theme is set at the page level. Problem is, I don't want to have to hard code the page theme into every page. Is there another place I can set the page theme? I've tried in the code behind of the master page (pre_int), and also adding a web user control with some code behind to the master page.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

How to deny user with c# code instead of setting web.config?

Hi, I have some pages that need user to sign in. If not, I need to redirect user to signin page. I know this can be done by using some code like"<system.web><authorization><deny users="?"/></authorization></system.web>" in web.config.

But can I just write some code to do the same function?

like in page load method, I can check whether user is sign in, if user is not signed in yet, how can I redirect user to the login page by using code? and how can I stop sending the content of the page to user?

Can anyone teach me about this?

Thanks!

Setting of sharepoint 2010 custom WCF service "web.config" file for both HTTP and HTTPS

Hi,

        I have created a custom SharePoint 2010 WCF service that is deployed to 14\ISAPI\MYService folder. The issue i am facing is that this service should be accessible from all Web applications, that can be HTTPS (i.e. SSL) enabled or normal HTTP. If i am making in web.config file for web application that has HTTPS enabled, then it fails for Web applications having normal HTTP configuration. My requirement is that when this WCF service is deployed it should accessible from all web applications that can be HTTPS or HTTP both. I went through number of blogs and tried whatever option they had suggested but none of them worked for me :(. Here are some of the blog that i tried:-

Clean Web.Config Files (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

.NET 4 includes a new version of the CLR, and a new .NET 4 specific machine.config file (which is installed side-by-side with the one used by .NET 2, .NET 3 and .NET 3.5).

The new .NET 4 machine.config file now automatically registers all of the ASP.NET tag sections, handlers and modules that we've added over the years, including the functionality for:

.ASP.NET AJAX
.ASP.NET Dynamic Data
.ASP.NET Routing (which can now be used for both ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC)
.ASP.NET Chart Control (which now ships built-into ASP.NET V4)
What this means is that when you create a new "Empty ASP.NET application" project in VS 2010, you'll find that the new default application-level web.config file is now clean and simple:

Microsoft AJAX CDN

Content delivery networks (CDNs) are composed of "edge cache" servers that are strategically placed around the world at key Internet network points. These "edge cache" servers can be used to cache and deliver all types of content - including images, videos, CSS and JavaScript files.

Using a CDN can significantly improve a website's end-user performance, since it enables browsers to more quickly retrieve and download content. For example, instead of having a browser request for an image traverse all the way across the Internet to your web server to download, a CDN can instead serve the request directly from a nearby "edge cache" server that might only be a single network hop away from your customer (making it return much faster - which makes your pages load quicker).

AJAX GridView Checkbox Select All in ASP.Net

In the previous article GridView Select Multiple Rows you learnt the multiple row selection in GridView control. Here you will get the C# code sample to select all the gridview rows using single checkbox server control. You can highlight the selected rows with different color and Font state Bold. If you want to use the selection values on different ASP.Net

AJAX GridView Paging and Sorting using C# in ASP.Net

To enable the GridView Paging and Sorting to update the GridView Data without refreshing the ASP.Net web page AJAX Extension controls are used. UpdatePanel is used to hold the GridView control that triggers the events for the controls placed inside it. By Default UpdatePanel triggers the asynchronous postbacks for its child controls.
