Problem Excluding Section In Quotes From Regular Expression Match

Posted By:      Posted Date: November 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Hi There,

Currently I have the string:

"WHERE Column_1_Name = 1 AND Column_2_Name = 'Test Column Criteria'"

& my desired matches are as follows:

However, so far, I can only achieve

'Test Column Criteria'

via: (([a-z][\w]+)|('[\w ]+'))(?!('[\w ]+'))

via (('[\w ]+')|([a-z][\w]+))(?<=\3)

All help appreciated much appreciated.

(I'm using the .net engine, case insensitive)

Regular Expression to Match

Here is the kind of text I want to match via a regular Expression

The id="dgSchedule" is always present in the TAG but its location may differ

The table is span over multiple line/contains white spaces/tabs...

I have the regular expression to match the start and end tag respectively over a single line

\<table .*\>

The problem is to match the whole table span over multiple lines

<table cellspacing="0" rules="all" border="1" id="dgSchedule" style="border-style:None;height:100%;width:100%;border-collapse:collapse;">
	<tr class="blackbar" align="center" style="background-color:#7FB4DE;font-family:Verdana;font-weight:bold;height:20px;">
		<td>From Place</td><td>To Place</td><td>Time</td><td>Bus Type</td>

	</tr><tr style="background-color:#DEECF5;">
	</tr><tr style="background-color:#EFF5FA;">
	</tr><tr style="background-color:#DEECF5;">

regular expression problem

i have to check if an input string is valid based on the given regular expression.. this is the regular expression.

(a(bb+aaa+((ab)*bb+(aba)*aa)(a+b)*) + (b(aa+bbb+((ba)*aa+(bab)*bb)(a+b)*)

+ is an OR

* is a LOOP, it is optional, it may be done as many as a user wants.

i've tried many ways to solve the problem that my professor gave me but my knowledge isn't that enough to solve this problem..

any help would be much appreciated.. :D thanks!

Javascript Regular Expression Problem

Hi all,

I have the problem about using regular expression.

At first, I found currency textbox script at http://blog.developers.ie/cgreen/archive/2009/04/24/currency-field-with-javascript.aspx.

Thank you Mr. Christopher Green for first solution. Smile

It is very cool script for inputable only decimal number.

After that, I had more requirement about "currency textbox can inputable '-' sign".

Ex. It can inputable '-23.89'.

I try apply regular expression in below function

function fnCurrencyOnly(o) {
            var sValue = o.value;
            var sKey = String.fromCharCode(window.event.keyCode);
            if (document.selection.createRange().text == sValue) {
                sValue = sKey;
            } else {

Regular Expression problem

Hi every one,

i have a problem in my Regular expression i tried couple of different ways but they are not working as i want.

i hope you guys have the solution

'On the form load

Dim mytext1() As String

Dim mytext2() As String

'On button click

mytext1 = Regex.Split(RichTextBox1.Text, "\s+")

mytext1 = Regex.Split(RichTextBox1.Text, "[ \t\r\n]")
the last two lines works identically but there is a little difference but i can't get it. so can anyone tell me how they really work?
and now to the second problem.
i want to split my text into words excluding spaces and characters like semi colon, colon, coma, period double qoutes, question mark, exclamation.

Regular Expression Word Count :: Problem when word wrapped in "", need "eg" to be counted as 1 word

Hi very new to regular expression, i have the following js function to return the number of words displayed in a text area.

 var matches = textarea.replace(/<[^<|>]+?>|&nbsp;/gi,' ').match(/\b/g);
 var count = 0;
 if(matches) {
  count = matches.length/2;

This function works perfectly except when a word is contained in double quotes: eg "word"

This will come back as 3 words, and I need it to be 1

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regular Expression Match Exact String

I'm looking for a regular expression that satisfies one of the two conditions (Reg Expression OR Exact String Match W/ Underscores) listed below.

Thanks in advance

Can we use regular expression to match numbers not preceded by a specified set of characters

I have been trying to come up with a RegEx that would match numbers (including decimals and negative numbers) that are not preceded by a specified set of characters. For example:

Specified set of characters (not including comma): c, t

Input string: “This c2 is one element. And t-4a, d25, c2.54, v4.28, q58 are other elements”

Desired result (the numbers not preceded by c and t):

The pattern I tried: [^ct](-?\d+\.?\d*|\.\d+)

The matches I got (Note: I fetched the results from Group 1):

I don’t want the numbers in bold to be returned since in t-4a the integer -4 is preceded by t, and in c2.54, 2.54 is preceded by c.

Can we refine the above pattern or is it even possible?

Thank you.

How to match regular expression in c# with two grouped expressions

I would like to match a string separated by "/" followed by an expression like 1..100 and again string separated by "/" followed by 1..100, here is the string format.
here is my regular expression
Regex regAppDH = new Regex(@"/String1/String2/String3/stirng4(\[[0-9]|[1-9][0-9]\])/string5/stirng6\[[0-9]|[1-9][0-9]\]")
This regular expression does not match after the first group expression ( before string5)  , can any body help to get this expression working.
stirng1,string2,string3,string4 and string5,string6 are alpha numeric and fixed.

Need a regular expression

I have a required field validator for a texbox, but I just found out that the texbox can have a space in it (for a delimiter, let's say).

I checked the .net and regexlib.com, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I simply need a regular expression that basically excepts any character string including spaces in it or even a space by itself

Can someone help me out?

Matching set of characters via regular expression

I need to be able to match sets of quote and space characters in a string and replace these accordingly. I currently have this done in 2 lines of code, but would like to use regular expression so that I can use only 1 line of code. See below: var Qt = unescape("%22"); //quote char var Sp = unescape("%20"); //space var Cr = unescape("%0d"); //carriage return var Lf = unescape("%0a"); //line feed var CrLf = Cr + Lf;  //carriage return & line feed stringOut = stringIn.replace(Qt+Qt+Sp+Qt,Qt+Qt+CrLf+Qt); stringOut = stringOut.replace(Qt+Qt+Sp+Qt+Qt,Qt+Qt+CrLf+Qt+Qt);   I want to replace space in string like in pattern below with carriage return line feed: (in hex) 22 22 20 22 or 22 22 20 22 22. This needs to return 22 22 0D 0A 22 or 22 22 0D 0A 22 22   Line in green above will only match and replace 22 22 20 22 , but I want have regular expression into 1 line of code which  will match and replace either 22 22 20 22 or 22 22 20 22 22
