Datasheet view lookup column issue

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

When a column that has a lookup is empty in datasheet view and I attempt to update a different column I get this message: the text entered for isn't an item from the list. select an item from the list, or enter text that matches one of the listed items.

I found this hotfix, but it did not apply.

Any ideas how to get this resolved?

Issue with People and Groups type of column in datasheet view of shrepoint list.

Hi,

We have a list created in MOSS 2007 which has a column of type people and groups. When we open the list in datasheet view and try to add records for people and groups type of column the column shows only records from All People section of the site collection. I have verified this for another site collection within the same web application where I am able to see all the users though they are not in the All people section of site collection.
Could anyone please let me know if I am missing any setting or if there is any change required to see all the user names in the people and groups type of column in datasheet view.

Thanks ,
Deepak

I couldn't change the forecolor of the lookup column in AllItem view (SP 2010)

I have a custom list with 2 columns: Title, and a LookupColumn. In the AllItem View, the color for both of them is pale blue. I want to change that color to darker blue #0000FF. When I tried to change the color in SharePoint Designer 2010, I can only change the color of the title column to #0000FF, but I couldn't change the color of the lookup column. I see that the lookup column is already surrounded by the tag <span style="color: #0000FF">......</span> but somehow the color is still pale blue. When I tried to apply the background color, font, etc, they all worked. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.

Bulk editing issue - list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view

On a sharepoint page i click on 'Actions' tab then select 'Edit in Datasheet'  and i see the following error message

"The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons: A datasheet component compatible with Windows SharePoint Services is not installed, your browser does not support ActiveX controls, or support for ActiveX controls is disabled. "

I am using XP professional, IE 6.02 to access the sharepoint site.

I was hoping that the hot fix KB938888 would fix that issue, but it did not. bulk editing is a nice feature that i would like to use but i have never been able to. The link to export data to Excel works fine.

if anyone has suggestions, thanks in advance

Some names in people lookup are not available when in datasheet view

I am trying to do some list updating (new items) while in datasheet view. I have some names (from our AD) that are not showing up in the droplist of names while in this datasheet view.  The names do show up if I go to standard view and create a new item there.  Any ideas what may be causing this? This is problematic because I'm actually trying to move this data in from an access database and I have about 275 records that won't go in because the names are in the list.

There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you're are trying to accomplish.

Issue with opening SharePoint library in Windows Explorer view

I am having trouble opening a document library in Windows Explorer view. The portal is MOSS 2007. I have installed Office 2007 and IE7 on my computer. The error that I get is
"Documents in this folder are not available. The folder may have been moved or deleted, or network problems may be preventing a connection to the server."

Issue in Infopath 2007 browser form - cascading dropdown using owssvr.dll filter view

Referring the below link, I created a cascading dropdown. The parent dropdown has sharepoint list as datasource and the child dropdown has xml datasource that points to owssvr.dll filter view. The cascading drop down works fine in preview but throws error after publishing as admin approved form - "form cannot run the specified query" exception when trying to execute xml datasource i.e., when a value is selected in parent dropdown. The security is 'Full Trust". In the event viewer the error message states "401 unauthorised" for the user a/c. the xml data source is an approved udcx file and in central admin, have enabled cross domain for infopath service. I have tried different solution provided in tech forums but issue still exists. Not sure whether Im missing something. Can someone guide me in fixing this issue?

BDC Entity as a Data Source for a Lookup column

Is it possible to create a custom lookup field type to have a BDC entity as the data source?

wss2.0 update/delete/hide lookup column that does not display any values

Hi All,

I have a document library that contains a Category column that is a lookup field. This is a default column that is a required field when uploading documents to the document library. The Category column is empty and I am unable to amend, hide, make it not required or delete it.

I have gone to Modify settings and columns -> clicked on the Category field to edit, but there is no option to amend the content or delete it. I am only able to amend the Column name and Description.

Since then, I have amended the column name to eg. Category1 and created a new Category field as a lookup and linked it to the correct list.

The problem I am facing now, is that I cannot hide, delete or make the Category1 (old Category) field NOT required. Either I would like to update the original field to display the correct values or alternately hide, delete or make the column not required.

Please help.

SSIS Lookup Transformation Issue

I am having a strange issue, In my data flow i have a Lookup Transformaton which will match on key columns of the fact and is followed by a condetional split that would deside if it should insert (old db destination) or go to update (oledb command) or ignore if no change. I have packages running for the last 1 year with the same logic. But in the recent packages I am experiencing a problem.  example: Key columns for join are - type_no (varchar 16) with all numeric values except one record wihh ' '(space) in it  and type_cd (decimal(18,0)) with values(0,1,2,3,4,5) It worked fine when I test the package. After couple of day running in schedule I get integrity violation and huge file with failed records which are supposed to be blocked at the condetional split as they are already in the fact. When i add a data viewer what i found is for all the llokup columns its having nulls (no match found). Workaround that is working for me for now is - I select full cash and say ok in the lookup transofrmation and again open it and set it back to no cash. Then it starts working as expected. Did anyone come accross this kind of issue? is the some standard that I have to follow to make sure this doesnot happen again

Persons and Groups column in datasheet

Hi - we have a problem where we have a column in a datasheet in sharepoint. The column is a person and group column and shows all people/groups etc as well as their presence using MS communicator. Works great on all PCs expect one which is using office 2010 32 bit. When you access the column in the datasheet via that single PC it only shows one option "NT authority\authenticated users" - instead of a list of the people and groups. Any ideas of how to fix this? Thanks

SharePoint 2010 datasheet view 64 bit vs 32 bit

I think that the Windows 7 64 bit I have is causing problems between My Office Suite (32 bit) and my IE 8 is (64 bit). I am not able to edit in datasheet view and my upload multiple documents is greyed out? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
