Office 2003 integration with MOSS 2007

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

All my documents are opening as read-only when I open from SharePoint sites even when I click on "Edit in ..." option on some machines.

The users seem to have correct permissions on the site.

Office 2003 integration with MOSS 2007

Hi ,

All my files/docs in MOSS 2007 open as read-only with Office 2003 standard edition in some machines.

The user seems to have sufficient permissions to edit but still not able to do so.

Any suggestion?

Sharepoint 2010 integration with Office 2010, 2007,2003

hi, i am looking, if some one know about the details or link, for the details about the Sharepoint 2010 integration with Office 2003, 2007 and 2010 versions. We will be migrate in couple of months to 2010 but we have mixed flavor of the office version in our environment. We have 2003, 2007 and 2010. Is their any blog post or anyone know what is now possible with 2010 but not in the 2007 or 2003. like a comparison chart.   thanks WSi am at entry level administrator

Sharepoint 2003 + Windows Terminal Server 2008 + Office 2007 problem?

Hi, We have a customer where some users runs Windows Terminal Server 2008 with Office 2007. They open documents from a Sharepoint 2003 site. When they open an excel sheet they get a button in the document which says "Server workbook: Click edit workbook to edit this workbook" and there is a button: "edit workbook" The users clicks "edit workbook" but get an error message saying there is no connection to the server.  They are able to edit the document, but not save it back to the sharepoint site. Most other users work on their local computer with Office 2003. Here, everything works fine and there are no button/message stating its a server workbook.   Is this caused due to some compatability issues between Sharepoint 2003 and Office 2007?   Best regards, Thomas Hansen ErgoGroup AS

MOSS 2007 and Word/Excel 2003

Hi, I am working with MOSS 2007 and building a context webpart which contains links to various places. One of the the links is trying to go to a Bookmark in a Word 2003 document. Upon attempting this it only goes to the top of the document and not to the expected bookmark location. I then tried to define a named range in an Excel 2003 file and had Sharepoint point to the named range. The same behavior occurred, it simply went to the top of the document. Here is a code snippet which points to the excel name range called Base: <A href="http://tserver4/sites/HALBI/GON/Shared%20Documents/Parts.xls#Base"> Does anyone know of any issues with this scenario? Thanks, Larry

Opening office Documents in MOSS 2007 document Library.... You get a prompt to login...

Install MOSS 2007 and ProClartity 6.3 (PAS6.3) on the same Microsoft Windows 2003 Server

An install of MOSS 2007 and ProClartity 6.3 (PAS6.3) on the same Microsoft Windows 2003 Server seems to be problematic. MOSS 2007 creates a default website and stops the normal default website. As soon as PAS 6.3 is installed it installs to this stopped default website. How can I overcome this issue?

MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010 Hybrid Upgrade Approach on Windows Server 2003 x64

There's some guidance circulating about upgrading to 2010 with a mix of In-Place and Database Attach upgrade methods. My Central Admin and SharePoint Web App are on a 64 bit server, but it's running on Windows server 2003 x64 and not on Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2. SharePoint Team Blog says Server 2008 or 2008 R2 is required for SP2010. If I want to do the hybrid upgrade approach, is it possible to first upgrade the OS to Server 2008 R2 on the server where my Central Admin and SP Web App runs?  Or will this break MOSS 2007?

How to legally install OWSSUPP.DLL from Office 2007 in an Office 2003 environment.

There's one important subtlety in the Office 2007 Microsoft Sharepoint Client Support module (OWSSUPP.DLL) that isn't present in the Office 2003 version: when you click on a document link, you get a prompt asking you whether you want to just open the document Read-Only or check it out and edit it.

What I'd like to do is install Office 2007 OWSSUPP.DLL in a workgroup of about 50 people. But I'd like to do this *legally* and in such a way that it's not viewed as a hack.

Does anyone here know how to do this?

Thanks in advance

Exchange 2003 Inbox and Calendar webparts for MOSS 2007

I've created one Inbox and one Calendar wepbart as descibed here:

using  OWAInboxPart and OWACalendarPart (code below).

When deploying them and placing them on the same page, only one of them will show anything. It looks like the last added webpart works, while the other won't.
If any one of them is placed alone on a page, they work as expected.

Does anyone know how to make them work togheter on the same page?

Thank you for your time!

Best regards,
Hans Erik Storeide

What compatibility issues present with MOSS 2007 and Office 2010?

We have been running MOSS 2007 for a year now and recently upgraded office workstations to Office 2010.  I am trying to research what compatibility issues might be experienced with this match of products.  Thank you for any examples.

Help to manage migration from farm WSS 2.0/MOSS 2003 to farm WSS 3.0/ MOSS 2007

we need to move an application (only a site collection/portal site)  hosted in farm using  WSS 2.0(SharePoint Portal Server 2003 integrated with Project Server 2003) to a new farm where is installed WSS 3.0 and SharePoint Portal Server 2007.

We do not care at all about the part managed by Project Server 2003 . We are interested to obtain all lists, items and users information stored in the application (basically all the content part managed by MOSS 2003).

Which is the best strategy to get the job done ?

We have tried these steps to check if our strategy could work but it didn’t:

Moss 2007 and Infopath 2003 client

System config:

SharePoint 2007 SP2 - 64 bit Standard edition

2 WFE, 1 APP/index,  Clustered SQL DB Servers (SQL 2005)

Issues is with Infopath forms saved to a document library (NO FORMS SERVICES ENABLED - MOSS Standard license), no code behind, just XML based form with a number of fields in it linked to an xsn that is located on another server entirely.

Client machines are IE 6 Infopath 2003

When form is opened by an owner - works fine, client opens no issue

When form is opened by a contributor - unless checked out first or if the "Require checkout before allowing editing of file" is disabled works fine

When form is not checked out to contributor or if the user if a viewer the error is:

"Infopath cannot open the following file:<filename>.xml. The file does not appear to be an infopath form ."

Show details:

"The processing instruction in the file is missing or invalid"

I tried a couple tests, I logged into Windows as a user who had viewer rights and then logged into MOSS as a user who has owner rights. Issue still happens. So I am assuming there is a second call being made by the InfoPath client using the windows identity and integrated auth.

If I download the file to my desktop it opens just fine. I cannot determine what ch
