Cannot Install Any .NET Frameworks

Hey,  I've been trying to install any version of .net framework on and off for about a year now, but never really spent much time on it as it wasn't imperative. Now though, I need at least .NET Framework version 3.5 for a program I want to run, and I cannot get this to install. I have a moderately new PC running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 64 bit. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and 4GB of RAM. I've had trouble installing some other programs, such as Python, because of Windows Installer Errors. But apart from them my computer runs pretty well. I cannot remember whether .NET Framework ran when the PC was new but I also can't remember having problems with it. I remember the first time I tried installing a .NET Framework I got error code 1603 and was told to uninstall and  reinstall all versions of .NET Framework, I looked in Programs and Features but found none. I then tried the .NET Framework Automatic Cleanup Tool but still could not install. Now, I checked programs and features found none then ran the cleanup tool before I tried installing .NET Framework 3.5 from Microsoft but I still got this error log:   [08/22/10,18:26:29] Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (x64) 'package': [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (x64) 'package'. MSI returned error code 1603 [08/22/10,18:27:10] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indi

WPF: If Heineken did MVVM Frameworks Part 4

MVVM is to have an instance of a particular Model (say currentPerson) inside my ViewModel (say PeopleViewModel) which is exposed to the View (say PeopleView). The View binds and edits the Model directly.

This definitely flies in the face of what most people consider to be the holy grail of MVVM pattern, but it's a fairly new pattern, so people are still finding their way with it every day, and this works for me very well. The reason I do what I do, is for the following reasons:

1.I have always had the luxury of being able to write my own UI specific Model classes. I would even do this if I was using some other Model classes first, such as LINQ to SQL or LINQ to Entity Framework. As these classes don't have everything a proper WPF Model class needs in my humble opinion. Though, they are pretty good, as they are Partial classes and use INotifyPropertyChanged/DataContract etc etc
2.I am a pragmatist and I do not like writing code for the sake of writing code. I have seen some MVVM apps where the author has had a Model with 50 properties on it, that are simply repeated in the ViewModel abstraction, where the ViewModel added nothing. On that day I decided I would never do that unless I have to.
3.I honestly see no harm in writing directly to the Model from the View, JUST SO LONG AS if the Model is InValid its data NEVER makes its way to the database. I honestly see no pro

SqlServer - Windows Account to install Application from Gallery

Referring to this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/download-and-install-an-asp-net-application

I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:

I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.

I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.

My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?

Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.

VWDE 2010 Won't Install Ajax Control Toolkit on XP Pro

To my displeasure I cannot find VWD2005 which at one time would generate a complete web.config for Ajax so I downloaded and installed VWDE 2010 to a clean install of XP Pro.

I've created a new tab on the toolbar for the controls but after I select the Ajax dll to add the controls to the toolbar it grinds away and then goes poof and closes down the task leaving VWD look as if I had never even created the tab in the toolbar.

Any advice here?

Ive seen a lot of articles on how to do this and in particular this http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/06/15/tip-trick-creating-packaged-asp-net-setup-programs-with-vs-2005.aspx#7162670 I am however stuck on the final part of this tutorial, im using the code Scott provided but have two errors,  heres part of my code where the errors are

How to install the Css Friendly Control Adapter Source Code

Hi guys really new to ASP.NET I was trying to install the CSS Friendly control adapter but for some reason the instructions on the website seems outdated. I downloaded all the files (Source Code, DLL, Browser) I believe I need to add the DLL file to my website's Bin folder and the Browser file to the APP_Browsers folder is this correct? After I place this files how to I get it working? what do I have to do?

Also if I want to create a new DLL file from the Source code how do I do these? I opened the web-site with Visual Studio 2008 and I can see all the files in the solution explorer? But how do I compile this to a DLL file? I tried doing a build solution but all I get is an .sln file???

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Attempting to install a Reporting Services for MOSS 2007

Greetings

I am tasked with writing reports for existing MOSS 2007, for that i am doing a test installation and test connection to a test moss server (copy of the main one)

So, i have a already set and running MOSS 2007. I am following theese tutorials

http://mosshowto.blogspot.com/2009/03/reporting-services-sharepoint-multiple.html#Creating-report-Server-databases-

But in my case, i have only two machines - one with main site moss and one with reporting services and sql for reporting services.

So far, i have installed SQL server, installed moss and reporting services on the reporting services machine.

I joined my moss into the existing farm successfully.

I've set up reporting services according to the tutorial (Except i use an account provided by test server administrator, which has all rights granted, since we dont bother with least privellege here, not a very big company...)

But when i check the /reportingservices page i see an error (its in russian) that teh server is wrongly configured. rsServerConfigurationError is the kind of error.

The tutorial said that i should see a blank page at this point. I will continue tutorial futher tomorrow (work day ends now

SQL Server Reporting Services not able to install on Windows Vista Home Premium

Recently I had a weird problem while trying to install SQL Server Reporting Service in my local PC. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and I wanted to configure SSRS in my PC. During the installation, the setup wizard listed all the services that we want to install and I found that only Reporting Server checkbox option was disabled and I wondered why??? I thought it may be becuase of some installation problem and tried again and its useless... I googled lot of sites for 3 days and finally found that due to some IIS issues, it is not possible to install Reporting Server in Vista Home Premium version. Reporting Server needs some specific IIS features to be installed in the machine.

But unfortunately those features are not available for Home Premium users which in term restricts users not to install reporting server in our PCs... Also, Microsoft has accepted it as an issue and its not possible to get it install in Home Premium...just wanted to share and might be useful for someone like me.
