Upload buffer report: Ui to SQL via WCF for BackgroundWorker Progressbar

Posted By:      Posted Date: November 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

Hi,

I am trying to solve a little mystery. The WPF program that I am working on allows the user to upload a large local image (a scanned image of a birth certificate). The image is converted into a ByteArray. The ByteArrays are large +700K, therefore the upload to SQL 2008 Srv. Media Dbase runs in a backgroundworker process. My question is the following: since I am not using a filestream or memory stream to upload the ByteArray to Sql Server, but a regular Insert Into or Update command and BasicHttp WCF Protocol, is there a buffer anywhere in WCF that reports back the sent amount of bytes so far? If so how do I hook up to it?

I'd prferably like to grab the amount of data sent until I initiate the upload, use that as start number, then with each increment of bytes sent (something like max WCF transmit buffer / (byteArray / 100)) have the backgroundworker report to the progressbar and increment the percentage of the progressbar... I understand how to do all this, I have just no clue about a possible buffer in WCF and how to grab its values. Then again there might be an easier way of doing this???

Thanks in advance.

SSRS 2008 R2 After using SSL, In Report Manager new datasource link, upload file link, subscription

Hello,

I have provided my setting and environment information below. My goal is to set Report Manager and Report Server URL with SSL connection so all URLs uses HTTPS (Secure connection) all the time. and remove HTTP access .

I applied following settings for this but I am getting errors. With Current Settings that I mensioned below, I am able to login into WebService URL successfully with all links working. For Report Manager URL  I logged in successfully but for some pages I am getting HTTP links instead HTTPS. It shows HTTP links for new datasource link, upload file link, subscription links so it shows blank page

I tried to look for solution and I applied but did not worked. I did some experiment with changing urls using application and manually from RSReportServer.config file but still not succedded.

Steps taken to solve problem:

  • To force to use HTTPS only, I tried to change SecureConnectionLevel = 0 to  1,2 or 3 but when accessing to Report Manager it gives 401 Authentication error.
  • If I remove http://+:80/ReportServer and tried to visit 2nd URL with HTTPS. The Web Service URL opens successfully. but Report Manager url gives me er

Unable to upload report file to SSRS 2008 R2 Express

I'm attempting to upload a report file into an instance of SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services (Express edition), and I'm having difficulty. While I can do things like create folders and manage security, I am unable to upload a report definition (.rdl) file from either the web console or via the ReportService2005.asmx web service. Both avenues eventually time out and generate a 401 error (though I am not sure that this 401 is legitimate, as it takes over a minute and a half to generate the error).

This instance is running the web services on a non-standard port (8080) in HTTP (not HTTPS) mode, as it's on a Windows XP Pro machine with an existing website on IIS.

I have looked at the report server access log, and this appears to happen when it errors out:

    rshost!rshost!380!10/13/2010-14:39:10:: e ERROR: ReadCallback(): failed to read in read callback.

Upload Multiple File using JQuery in asp.net

In this article I have explained how to upload multiple files using file upload control. I have used jQuery plugin for uploading multiple files.

I have also explained how to check for file type, file maximum size limit using jQuery & also using server side validation code.

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

Multi File Upload Using JQuery!

Everyone knows about the file upload in .NET. But the multi file upload is some what difficult in .NET. For that purpose we can have some AJAX or JQuery!. Jquery is the latest advanced version. It will give some animated upload. You can try it for your own!!!!

ASP.Net Upload Image to MS Access Database

As you learnt from the previous articles to upload image to the SQL Database in ASP.Net 2.0 and stream that image into the memory to retrieve it from the database and display it on the web page. In this article you will learn how to upload images to the MS Access database in ASP.Net 2.0

First of all create an Access Database and place it in the App_Data folder of ASP.Net web site project. Then create a table "tblImg" with the following fields:

Alternating row background for first column of a report

is there a way to make the first column of a report use the an alternating background color?

I have the background color set for the entire row however it does not work for the first column if the color is set to an expression.  If I just set it to a color i.e. red it works just fine. If I insert a dummy column to the left it works just fine (but the dummy column does not work, presumably because it is first??).

In the file below only the textbox for part number does not show an alternating background.  All others work correctly.

<TableRows>
            <TableRow>
              <TableCells>
                <TableCell>
                  <ReportItems>
                    <Textbox Name="PartNumber">
                      <rd:DefaultName>PartNumber</rd:DefaultName>

file upload in chunks or not buffering in memory before writing to disk?

What are the options for handling file uploads to reduce the memory footprint?  Is there a way to upload in chunks?  Is there a way to stream upload directly to disk instead of loading entire file in server memory?

Thanks

Upload transparent PNG image

Hi everybody

I'm creating a website where it must  be able to upload, crop and resize images. This works until I use transparent PNG images. When I upload a transparent PNG, the transparency becomes black. I've searched the whole internet, but found no solution so far. Can someone help me? This is my code. I'm working with MVC 2.

			try {
				HttpPostedFileBase file = Request.Files["image"];
				file.SaveAs(Server.MapPath("/Uploads/" + file.FileName));

				ViewData["ImageLocation"] = "/Uploads/" + file.FileName;
				return View();
			}
			catch (Exception exc) {
				return RedirectToAction("UploadImage");

How to use report viewer 2010 in VS 2008
