Sharepoint 2003 + Windows Terminal Server 2008 + Office 2007 problem?

Hi, We have a customer where some users runs Windows Terminal Server 2008 with Office 2007. They open documents from a Sharepoint 2003 site. When they open an excel sheet they get a button in the document which says "Server workbook: Click edit workbook to edit this workbook" and there is a button: "edit workbook" The users clicks "edit workbook" but get an error message saying there is no connection to the server.  They are able to edit the document, but not save it back to the sharepoint site. Most other users work on their local computer with Office 2003. Here, everything works fine and there are no button/message stating its a server workbook.   Is this caused due to some compatability issues between Sharepoint 2003 and Office 2007?   Best regards, Thomas Hansen ErgoGroup AS

Do SharePoint 2007 and VS2010 have to be installed to the same Windows Server machine?

For WSS 3.0 development using VS 2005, I learned that we need to install VSeWSS to the Windows Server where the WSS 3.0 was installed.  For MOSS 2007 development using VS 2010, do we need to have VS 2010  nstalled to the same Windows Server?  Thanks, Jeffrey

SharePoint 2007 + PowerPoint gives "Contacting the server for information" for a long time

I've never had this issue for but today all of a sudden I tried to open a PowerPoint document posted to a document library on our SharePoint 2007 site and it gave a message saying "Contacting the server for information" for a long time.  It eventually opened but not until after 5-10 minutes.  Does anyone know what might have caused this?  The file itself is pretty small, only 70KB, and as I said we haven't had this problem before.

MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010 Hybrid Upgrade Approach on Windows Server 2003 x64

There's some guidance circulating about upgrading to 2010 with a mix of In-Place and Database Attach upgrade methods. My Central Admin and SharePoint Web App are on a 64 bit server, but it's running on Windows server 2003 x64 and not on Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2. SharePoint Team Blog says Server 2008 or 2008 R2 is required for SP2010. If I want to do the hybrid upgrade approach, is it possible to first upgrade the OS to Server 2008 R2 on the server where my Central Admin and SP Web App runs?  Or will this break MOSS 2007?

SharePoint 2007 on Windows 7 with SharePoint 2007 Server?

I have been using SharePoint Designer 2007 on Windows XP successfully on a client's SharePoint server.  When I use the same install program (freshly downloaded from Microsoft) to put SharePoint Designer 2007 onto a Windows 7 machine, then when access that same server, SharePoint Designer reports: "Server error: The version of Windows SharePoint Services running on the server is more recent than the verssion of SharePoint Designer you are using.  You need a more recent version of SharePoint Designer". I cannot find a more recent version of SharePoint Designer 2007 other than SharePoint Designer 2010.  But SharePoint Designer 2010 does not work on SharePoint Servers of version less than 2010! : is this a bogus error message? : is there a update to SharePoint 2007 that will work? : any other thoughts.   Thanks!--rms www.rmschneider.com

Renaming a Page in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

I created a page in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.  I want to change the title that displays at the top of the page.  I chose "Edit Toolbar Properties", but it does not let me change the title.  I went into the page's properties and renamed the "file" that contains the page.  But, that did not change the actual title that displays on the page.

Any ideas?

Running Sharepoint Server 2007 and Exchange 2007 on the same box

I work at a charity foundation and we have a low budget for hardware, but we have four servers as follows:
1-Windows 2003 R2 Active directory and SQL Server Standard.
2-Exchange server 2007 on 64-bit Windows 2003 R2.
3-Exchange edge server.
4-ISA Server 2006.

We have a maximum of 50 users. I would like to install Sharepoint Server 2007 on the Exchange Box which is a Core 2 duo and has 4GB RAM...
Besides the problem with the OWA site and sharepoint sites, are there any other problems or disadvantages that i should be aware of ?? If so is it better to install a virtual server like Vmware on the exchange box and install Sharepoint on a virtual server? or just try to get that extra server box???...

Any help is appreciated .....

Managed Properties in the Advanced Search page of Sharepoint Server 2007

Hi all,

I want to search a custom field in a SharePoint list by using the Advanced Search page. I followed this post http://interdata.cl/?p=368 and i was able to find all metadata properties without any blank.  For example, I´ve created columns called "Baseline", or "Milestone" and it works properly, but for example, "Document Code" doesn´t works.

The field shows up correctly in the Advanced Search properties, but whenever I do a search trying to specify my custom property I get the error message: "Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information.".

if I look at the Managed property in Central administration, it tells me "Number of objects with this property: more than 350", so the data is mapped correctly to the property.

Thanks in advance,
